I know that this is a older video ,but wanted to let you know that you are one of the only reviewers I trust .Big fan .thanks for your help it means alot
I got this laptop (better said: ultrabook) yesterday. I got the i5 4200u with 8 GB ram. I must say... this is an amazing laptop! The screen is so satisfying to look at, it weighs almost nothing (2.2/2.3kg). The Dolby surround sound speakers are loud (at 100% they actually hurt my ears). There is a 420GB HDD and a 25GB SSD, so you can install all your heavy programs on the SSD. Booting times are between 10 ~ 15 seconds, and it shuts down almost instantly. Since I bought this ultrabook for school there is only one downside: battery life. It's not particularly bad. Lenovo claims it goes up to 6 hours. With normal use (browsing the internet and typing an essay on Word) I found the battery life was around 3,5 - 4 hours. The charger has a small brick and weighs almost nothing so taking your charger with you is very easy. Overall, I love it!
Please upload your videos in 2k resolution. it is much, much better, and it can be noticed on Full HD screen whatsoever... I like your reviews they're very detailed and smart.. keep on doing it and all the best! Cheers
1080p IPS touch screen with full pad keyboard and illumination is a rare combo on any laptop! HDMI instead of the useless displayport (which NOBODY uses) is a great design choice for those who like to connect their laptops to television and projectors! Also this is the last generation (Haswell/Broadwell) of laptops with detachable processors and free DIMM. So you can upgrade your CPU and RAM. Having all this in mind this is ACTUALLY one of the best all around laptops for media and work i have EVER observed!!! The review was great!
Would this be any good at playing games at low-medium setting. The games I have in mind are Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite and Watchdogs (No AA)
djjsyui1008 I recommend choosing a Lenovo Flex 3 14-Inch Touchscreen Laptop . I've used. it's very good, i buy it on coupon links:---------->>>>>amzn.to/1FEgAH5 . Great service. Quality and fast.
I bought this laptop when it was on sale at OfficeDepot for $599. It has the i5, 6gb RAM and 1TB HDD. I replaced the HDD with a Samsung 512gb EVO 840 Pro (cloned) and up'd the RAM to 16gb and it's working very nicely. The battery lasts around 4.5 hours browsing the web with some video and online game play (Cookie Jam) at 80% brightness on Balance mode. The speakers are loud, the touch screen is responsive, wifi is fast and I do like the 2-level backlit keyboard. The only problem I have is the screen. It looks nice on subtle lighting but in bright lights the colors are washed out. I remedied this by increasing the contrast a bit and is now at an acceptable level. I also like the feel of the plastics Lenovo used, it's robust and not flimsy. My next project is to replace the DVD with a BluRay drive. The fan hardly activates and when it does it's not loud like some other laptops. I see some mentioned and you included about a cache SSD but what type does it use? mSATA? I always value your opinion and watch your reviews all the time when I'm in the market to buy something. Keep up the good work.
kanehi hey Kanehi what is the advantage to change HDD with a samsung 512GB evo 840 Pro (Cloned)? what is the cons of having the 1TB HDD ? How much is the cost for the ram that you added and also the samsung 512 GB... ?
therainbow therainbow SSD boots faster and programs loads faster. The original HDD is only 5400rpm which is a tad slow. Uploading images from an SD card is faster and post processing is a big improvement with an SSD. SSD was on sale for $240 and the memory was less than $80 for 16gb.
Good review. On point for sure. I bought this a couple of months ago now. The 14 inch model and very happy with it. Very well built and great specs for a good price. I only wish the battery life was a bit better
I recommend it for resistability. Once I dropped it on the hard (no carpet) floor from my bed and I only needed to push a plastic together in the place of the shaft. There was no significant damage at all.
I would love to see a review of the Acer Aspire r13 convertible. It looks like it's going to set a new standard for convertibles, and it won the 2015 CES innovation award. Love your page, your reviews are spot on. Thanks.
Hey Lisa, had a question regarding the Flex 2 14....would like to know your input regarding the battery life since there are varying reviews online...Thanks :)
+Mobile TechReview A day cant go by if I haven't watched a review by you guys. I love your in-depth reviews. So impressive. Your time used or rather spent reviewing a laptop is always worth it. I really never care if your videos take three hours, I just love your work. I just got one tiny little question, how well can it handle gaming? And if it does, what sort of games can it handle, like Battlefield, skyrim, GTA V, Call of Duty etc.
I am going to buy this Lenovo Edge 15 laptop with the Intel i5 and Intel hd 4400 graphics card will this be able to run games such as dayz and mine craft and other games such as h1z1?
How is the display quality? I got the 14" model and it has yellow light leaking from all the four corners? Looks really bad while watching videos. Did you also see it?

Some facts not in this review: 1. This model came with Superfish, even months later, they apparently didn't clean up the stock. 2. The touch screen sensor (made of glass) is very fragile and can break from simply using the hinge. 3. The charging only to 50% is a feature of preinstalled Lenovo battery management software, they claim it prolongs the battery life. There is a setting somewhere to control it. 4. That bulky thing on the back does hold the battery, it isn't really part of the hinge. However you have to open the laptop to see that. 5. To open it, remove the middle screw on the back, then lift out the keyboard and remove the small "lenovo" sticker to get to the screw that locks in the optical drive, then slide out the optical drive (which locks all the other parts against removal). However to remove the back you have to remove almost every screw in sight, including some hidden under the keyboard and some behind the optical drive. If you have to do it quickly (like at an assembly line), remove all the screws visible on the back, turn it over, remove the screws behind the keyboard, slide out the optical drive, turn it over again and remove the screws behind the optical drive. 6. Models without an optical drive have a dummy plastic tray in its place and no obvious connector if you buy the drive later. 7. Since someone asked: Some configurations do include an nVidia graphics card plugged into the mainboard, it doesn't conflict with the optical drive. 8. The wireless card takes up the only M.2 slot inside.
Hi Lisa, I don't see a optical drive in the spec of Lenovo Flex2 15 - 59422160. can you let me know which model number is one you show in the video? Thanks
Can't get into the Bios to change the boot priority. Could you please show to get into the bios of this laptop. there is no bios button on this laptop. Keep the good work going. thanks
+zaheer abbas If you need to access the BIOS, there is a little hole on the right-hand side near the front of the case, just in front of the SD card slot. Stick a paperclip in the whole while the machine is off and it will power up and allow access to the BIOS menus.
Can you PLEASE do a review on the HP Chromebook 14 - New Version (Snow White). I want to buy it on amazon but I can't find a video with the review. Thank you!
The core-i5 and core-i7 versions of the Flex 2 15 have backlit keyboards. The lower end models (A6, i3, A8) do not. These have a very similar look n feel keyboard, but just no backlit capability. So if you want that backlit keyboard capability, which is very sharp looking, just be aware of that.
David Trujillo Actually, the combinations vary arbitrarily. I had one with i5, FHD display, nVidia GFX, but no backlight and no optical drive. Only way to tell before buying is to read the price sticker or ask the seller.
Is the display adequate in terms of color-reproduction and such? Is it horrible to look at, or its totally acceptable for a non-pro, everyday user? Is the build quality going to be a problem?
MobileTechReview Thanks. One more question: is a GT 840M in a notebook going to make a noticable difference in casual use (i.e. youtube, 1080p video playback etc.) compared to a standalone i5 (Haswell)? I'm about to buy a laptop. I need a sturdy, portable one ,14' max., for heavy msword, multiple chrome tabs, youtube and such; nothing really fancy. I'm unable to decide what to get, the Flex2 14 (i5 with GT 840M) or the U330Touch (i5); they're about the same price in my country. In other words: U330T's better overall quality (due to metal) and better portability, or GT 840M? I don't care about the 300° hinge. I haven't bought any of them yet, so I may have other options beside these two.
lápi póc - paszmatyi Well you should care about hinge. And if you really only wish to do things you've listed you'll do much better without the dedicated GPU.
lápi póc - paszmatyi Of course take the FHD IPS, why is that even a question? I always thought these modes are irrelevant - they aren't. Right now I'd pay 100€ right away for the comfort of peesentation mode, although I'm using 17,3" 3kg laptop without touchscreen.
It doesn't have pen support, so if that's something you're looking for, get a different laptop/tablet. Otherwise, expect this to be about as powerful as any other Core-i5 ultrabook.
I have a very VERY big question! I have the same Lenovo as you, but for some reason, my computer says a dvd drive is non-existent on my computer and has no open key to push. I've searched a lot of places to fix the problem, but none have come up. I've never really needed a use to play DVD's since I have a tv in front of me, but now on the road, I wish I had something more trustworthy. I don't know what exactly to do. I enjoy using it with my gaming and editing, but the dvd drive and open key is missing. Should I contact Lenovo or what? -Meg

what is the difference between flex 15 and 15d? does the 15d also have an external removeable battery so can be replaced easily without opening it up? which is better?
If i can't flip it back into a tablet mode then whats the point? I've never seen anyone use their laptop in a tent mode or expressed a burning desire to do so.
I have this laptop and love it! I use it mainly for school and over spring break I did not use it. I did not leave it plugged in over this time. Now my battery has no charge and will not charge. Hey Lisa, I just bought the lenovo flex 2 15-00389 but the optical drive doesnt have a button and windows media player doesnt recognize it so I cant eject it from their either! Help how do I open it? MobileTechReview
I bought this, I like but I had some issues with it like I noticed the screen color compare to my other laptop / TV / iphone. I compared Google logo and noticed blue color is not the same as my other devices have, also compare with my friend's laptop (DELL), may be the lenovo laptop I got is faulty but I returned it and not decided to exchange. Could you please confirm the Google logo blue color is same as your other device like smart phone or something else other than lenovo.
yes, u can disable all touchpads on almost all laptops. You have to do it either in windows, or there usually is a button on or around the keyboard to disable it.
Stine Christensen minecraft? prolly if it's not continously used, you know that minecraft consumes a lot of cpu power. thus it's better to play minecraft on desktop. cause java.
Stine Christensen yes but for sims 4 you have to buy the game and inside the cd case there is a code for origin (a ea game website) and type in the code on there
Is this the Lenovo FLEX 2 Convertible Laptop with AMD A6-6310 APU 15.6 inch 8GB Memory and 1TB Hard Drive? please confirm? or may you provide me with a link.
Where can i find the serial number for my lenovo flex 2-15 i want to buy new motherboard because the original one died and i dont have the manual book either the box for my laptop :(
Not sure if anyone is able to help, my laptop won’t charge unless the charger is affixed within a certain angle, on top of that, the battery life is shorter compared to its original state. Anyone know any solutions?
Do you have to press the FN key every time you want to hit the F-1to F-12 keys i want to get this but if I have to I will not get this one can anyone let my know

That 300 degree angle defeat the whole purpose of having a touch screen. as a scientist I need to use it as tablet sometimes just for monitoring.

But my edge 15 doesn't have an optical drive...
