Glad to see you posting videos again. I found your Catalina vids to be both inspiring and informative when I sailed there from LA. Drop an email if you get to the Bay Area and want to get on the water.
WOW! Surprised you live in Ca. The Mississippi is a long way from there. Let me know if you ever decide to trailer one of your boats to Florida and cruise around the Florida keys or bahamas.
Nine Hundred Dollar Luxury Yacht I think Herbert’s range is a little short for the keys, but I’m looking into upgrading the Cal 25 to a 28’ or equivalent for cruising the keys and Bahamas. The more budget I can get, the sooner it will happen.
@@SmallCraftCruising I like to have a buddy boat along just in case, whenever possible. I have the Carver 27 which I plan to cruise around the bahamas in, and a MacGregor 26 sailboat I use in the Florida keys and possibly the near bahamas. If you'd like to cruise around with another boat tagging along, let me know. I live in Merritt Island, by Cape Canaveral, so you'd be welcome to stay at my place if you want to see a rocket launch or use some tools to fix anything. There is a low 7 foot bridge before my dock which Herbert probably won't fit under, but there is space in the Banana River just off the intercoastal waterway where you could anchor and dinghy to my dock. You could even fit Herbert into my driveway on its trailer. My email is Sciencelookers@aol.com email me a while in advance if you want to do something. I'm usually on my boat and out of touch during the first part of summer. I really admire what you're trying to do with Herbert. Deciding not to do much to the sailboat is probably a good decision as well and took more self restraint. The one addition I would highly recommend is some solar panels and a couple of deep cycle batteries (for both boats). Alpicool makes some real low power fridges that can be set to freeze as well. They are about the size of a cooler. A freezer and small fridge are really nice additions to a boat. The ones that use a solid state cooling device are cheaper but use a lot of power compared to the Alpicool ones with a compressor. My 45 liter Alpicool has a small compartment that is refrigerated when the rest of it is freezing. Thats nice to put a days worth of frozen food into so it can thaw while staying refrigerated or just for keeping a couple of drinks cold. I can cruise for a long time without needing to stop for groceries because I cook a bunch of food and freeze it before leaving, then microwave it when I'm on the boat. Cooking and freezing your food is something you could do here if its more convenient. Its less than a days trailering to reach the Florida keys from here, so everything would stay frozen during the trip. The solar and deep cycle batteries run the microwave and coffee maker through an inverter so I have most of the comforts of home even on a small boat. The solar is easy to set up and so nice once you have it. Just running some fans when you want to sleep at night is such a comfort, I put some sort of solar on all my boats now.
you should pull up the suzuki outboard when you are running the mercury..water pressing in to the outboard while not running, can cause damage to the engine
Charli Sierra the outboard mount is too close to the transom and doesn’t allow for it to be high enough. I need to take it off and add a 2” spacer between the transom and the outboard mount.
Good to see Herbert back online. Please continue posting.
Glad to see another video about this boat! I really enjoyed watching the others.
