      The real racism , thinking minorities can't make it without special help from the government , it's racist to think that minorities can't get it together enough to retain ID to vote ; if minorities don't think like you , they often become your target

      tstocker69 The real racism is ensuring that there is not an even playing field, and condemning people, who have to climb the mountains or step over the boulders, for complaining about and trying to remedy the situation!!!

      Rene Curry... if you give one group special treatment because you perceive them to be at a disadvantage (I don't know what you might call this mindset) what happens to the other groups? And how do the super privileged non-disadvantaged groups allocate their time properly in order to 'level the playing field'? Do they just have to work extra hard? I am genuinely trying to understand the logic.

    Could Michael Steele's position be more pathetic? It must be so weird clinging to a party that clearly wants nothing to do with you. He talked about racism coming from the top...the president...the leader of the party, but he still wants to be part of it. Mind-blowing..

    • @ajs11201
      @ajs11201 Год назад

      I agree. There's a serious disconnect here. I truly believe that in his heart Steele is a good man, but something's not quite right in his head. Since around 1970, since the advent of the Southern Strategy, the Republican party has been first and foremost about hating and disenfranchising Black people. Of, if you want to flip the lens and look through the other side, Republicans are about White supremacy. That didn't just happen. It's been baked in to the party since the late 1960s. Then along comes Michael Steele in 2009 and proclaims he wants to be the national leader of a party that hates the very essence of his being. I just don't get it.

  • @PeanutsAssorted
    @PeanutsAssorted 6 лет назад +25

    Michael Steele seems like a good guy, he's actually able to call out his own party for its problems and doesn't just pretend everything's OK just because he's republican. I won't be shocked when he starts his own conservative party.

      Dottie McGee I didn't hear that at all. I don't think he ever said he would be okay with it. I heard him explain that it didn't make sense that he was an affirmative action hire because, if he was, he wouldn't have had to go through all he did to win the position. To me, he was emphasizing that he worked hard and earned it fair and square.

    I can't bring myself to feel sorry for him. It's his party and those "elements" he now speaks of were in existence when Michael Steele was chairman. They were proudly vocal and active during Obama's presidency.He stayed there, turned a blind eye, excused it and rejected it's pervasiveness. So now he just has to accept that there are many in his party feel he was only elected BECAUSE he is black. Affirmative action gone wrong 😂. If he wants these people to stop saying that he didn't earn the RNC chairmanship, then he needs to stop criticising Trump and support or excuse EVERYTHING he does and says. Problem solved. Just get in line Michael.

    The Republican party is broken. It must be fixed. We need principled individuals in office who have been duly elected by an informed and engaged electorate. It was not that long ago that the 'never Trump' movement included many of the people now supporting him. The longer the Republicans continue to support Trump, the longer it will take the GOP and the country to recover from the damage he is doing.

    There is no shame anymore. Racism did not decline as I thought it had, it just went underground. We have not advanced as much as I thought and that is sad. I read an interesting quote: "can someone who was born blind be racist?"

      polara1se I heard that too! “You got it babe.” I’m sure he is already regretting it, but I sort of wanted to see Joy react. Maybe she didn’t hear it because producers were talking in her ear about the next segment?

    And yet he's still a Republican.
    Steele is very personable...even when he was heading the RNC it was hard to dislike him (although I did), but for him to stay in that vile, mob-like excuse for a party after all this horrible behavior is disgusting.

    Brother Steele, I respect you for your principles as a member of the GOP, and your accomplishments at the RNC. From the time the "Dixiecrats" infiltrated the party, the specter of race has always been there. The unfortunate irony is that now it has been publicly directed at you, that you know speak out against it.

    I am not a Micahel Steele fan, but he did a decent job for the GOP and helped them win majorities in the house and senate. Watching the GOP throw Michael under the bus and act like he didn't help them win accuse Micahel of spending money like a drunk sailor and replace him with the ultimate wet noodle Reince Priebus made me look at the GOP with an even bigger side-eye than I did before and it confirmed that party has a problem with strong black men even if the black men agree with them.

    The GOPs racism problem is Not a that of a legion of Racist. Its a systemic problem that the GOP shares in with this whole nation.Its a problem in which the element of RACE is intrinsically important when it shouldn't be. Throughout rhetoric and policy decisions alike the irrelevance of RACE is made relevant.

    Michael Steele had to be cognizant of the role an African-American man in the Republican party would play. In no small part, he would be a useful tool for Republican party officials as a frontman, however hard in reality he had to fight for the leadership role. Mr.Steele, as a white woman in this nation years ago, I had to make choices that had to do with my principles and party sexism. It was costly. You, sir,knew what you would gain by your mercenary choice, and, for that, you have been rewarded to this date and continuing. So stop mooing like a cow stepping on its udder.
