Please... you who complain about too much rubato, Angela Hewitt is a living entity, not a robot!! And a very talented human all things considered. Play that Bach music yourself, and see how much work it demands, and as she is doing, play it by heart!!
👍🏼🎹❤WOW!!!! Fantastic, exciting and 100% convincing interpretation: Tansparent, profound, lively, emotional, perfectly structured, beautiful sound - Marvellous grand piano of course, too :) Thanks for uploading!
That comment is pretentious and hubristic. Why not accept that all of us are works in progress, and that this is how a great artist felt/heard/saw the piece on that given occasion? The arts are not like sports with one standing atop a heap of also-rans. The festival/competition/# of "likes" phenomena have corrupted music making. I must say that I am exceedingly proud of this Canadian artist resisting the blandishments of various self-appointed "experts" (of unknown provenance), and continuing to find her own, evolving way in this repertoire, which belongs to the world. May she prove even more cussedly Canadian as she continues on her journey!
Sadly fugue is In dire cognitive dissonance to the style fortunately chosen in Prelude. This mental illness isn’t easy to overcome and perhaps with focus and the time, she would be able to play polyphonic texture also in better alliance with Bach’s intentions, without common OVERSIMPLIFICATION.
We have the special task to convey: This is a precious message from the very knowledgeable instructor who believes that this artists is capable [!] of overcoming her last limitations, ALL THE WAY. Otherwise she won’t bother wasting time… Then Angela would be unsurpassed in her excellence in Bach. She is very close, and if she re-records the fugue with more courage - it will be world’s top interpretation ! Help Angela to get beyond a few of her still remaining blocks. She will be grateful eventually for this insight. Mr. Paolo Fazzioli had the informal lesson with Ms RG
Exactly! Check out this version by Gulda. It's the true Baroque form. The fugue is amazing! ruclips.net/video/mJ5IkHlKQrw/видео.htmlsi=yDEIzIuZQsro5De-
Hewitt is well known for her excellent Bach, but for whatever reason, she seems clueless here. The fugue is terrible, awash in rubato and meaningless emotion. Bach fugues are amazing structures, like musical Eiffel Towers, and need symmetry, precision, and rock solid timing. They should not be played like quivering pillars of Jello. If you want to hear this piece played in a proper Baroque form, listen to Gulda play it. ruclips.net/video/mJ5IkHlKQrw/видео.htmlsi=wFKEO_1G8DiNV3x9
Hahaha "meaningless emotion" is a hilariously misguided insult! Bach can be played like a mathematical formula spat out by a computer if one wants, or it could be a sublime emotional musical journey. Bach sounds good no matter what, but I would do some serious self reflection on the purpose of music if you think playing like a mathematical formula is a superior interpretation to playing with depth and emotion.
@@PointyTailofSatan yeah that's Frederick Gulda playing it. How about you record yourself playing it and show us how to not be "quivering pillars of Jello."

Absolutely marvellous!!!!!
Love it. Love it. 🎉🎉🎉
Her finger legato is amazing (among many virtues)
A seriously great and masterful performance, with so much life in it. The composition itself is testament to Bach's amazing creativity.

Oh blab blah blah you just like to hear yourself expound with self righteousness.
Fantasia cromatica eccellentemente eseguita! Bach superbo!
Fugue begins at 7'28"
Actually you can type 7:28 so that people can click it 🙏🏻😁

And who are you? Sadly, apparently, someone unable to let a world class artist make her own choices.

ordinary God
Ich hasse es, wenn sie husten oder Geräusche mit der Nase machen...wie ängstlich sie sind....
What a horrible performance!
Too much rubato for my taste. Bach didn't write it like that. Compare this with a superb performance by Andras Schiff.

I don't know that Schiff recording off hand, but I generally find him dull. This playing sparkles

You should play it for us to prove what you mean. Then we can all judge you harshly.
