This video has saved me £447.00. My garage quoted £450 part and labour and after watching this video I went to europarts and bought a 500ml can spay of Egr cleaner for £3.29. I did it myself and it took about 45 minutes to take the valve out, clean it and put it back. The car has restored all the power and performance it had before. Thank you for making this vid bro 👊🏾

Right folks! I have to share my recent experience, 2013 Avensis with check parking break system coming on and car going into limp mode. I had the car checked by 2 mechanics and both said I needed 3 injectors and an EGR valve. After watching this video several times I took on the task of cleaning out the EGR. Well when I say it’s like a different car to drive…I’ve amazing, very powerful, unreal and all warning lights gone off on dash. I am really hoping this stays the case as the prices ive been quoted are up on €1500 for 4 injectors and the EGR bypass. Thanks very much for your help and thanks to all in the comments for your guidance. I took a large amount of sut out of the EGR today then 🚙💨💨

  • @apportionated

Your tutorial worked perfectly. I watched it twice before doing it. I had problems with black smoke on cold starts and rough idling. I used your tutorial for my 2.0 D4D (2006) due to a P0400 error code. When I took the EGR valve off, it was absolutely caked in carbon. I used a hoover and a screwdriver then EGR valve cleaner to get it shiny again. Previous owners should be ashamed! I have no history on the car, and I'm only comfortable doing this sort of maintenance due to content like yours. Thank you so much, it's saving me a lot of money that I can't afford!

We have a 2008 177HP model. On that one I suggest to buy all 3 gaskets beforehand because there is a good chance that they will fall apart completely. I think I paid 12€ for all 3, and had to wait from Monday till Friday to arrive that's why it's better to have them before starting repair. Another thing: disassemble the EGR valve so that you can push with your finger and therefore clean entire valve. Use EGR cleaner spray but be careful to not touch it because it is very strong and it can peel off your skin (it happened to me, gloves had cracks). Also after you clean the major dirt it is good to fill up the valve with EGR cleaner and leave soaking for some time. Our D-CAT version is more prone to EGR clogging and needs to be cleaned regularly. We are cleaning at least once a year. There's a way to avoid all this by closing the passage and reprogramming the computer, they charge about 150€ but we preferred to not do this and rather just keep cleaning it. Anyway it's not a big deal because it is very accessible and easy to clean.

Helpful video but I have the same type Toyota avensis on the inlet manifold there are three ports on the egr inlet as you can see in this video only one is open . By cleaning the egr you are only scratching the surface. You must remove the inlet manifold because the ports into the cylinder head will also be blocked with carbon use a blade to cut the carbon away from the head and any cleaning of the ports have a hover sucking what you are picking away or have a blower attached to a compressor because carbon that has made its way down
