Thank you all for the the thoughtful comments and the seasons greetings. I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and we have a better year with Covid disruptions than the last! We are still hoping to travel into Death Valley this winter and open the mine this spring. Frank and Sharon.
I have a question, what do you do in preparation for mining explorations, do you get permits and give the county a date when you're exploring and a check incase something happens?
You have the best job in the world. Look forward regularly to see what you are exploring. Peace to you Frank, Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year with more to come. Good day too.
My level of fascination with mining must really be obvious because all my gifts today were related to Michigan mines 😅 Thank you for inspiring such an awesome fascination! Merry Christmas Frank & Sharon! 🎄
Hello Frank hello Sharon Mery Christmas and happy holyday Thank you for this interesting Video Waiting for next Part Take care stay healthy Yours Frank Galetzka
Good evening from Southeast South Dakota. What perfect timing for me to wind down eat some good food have a smoke with a Bud and watch the best dam show on RUclips.
I've heard about this; mine just haven't been to it through, so it's pretty cool watching you and your wife go explore em and hearing about the history about them.
I was up there in the 50s as a kid, then again in the early 80s, there was a lot more standing out side then, interesting to see it today...... Ilived in Keromeos years ago, still have family there, take care
Great video! When you mentioned Nighthawk my ears perked up. I live in the Seattle area and have always wanted to visit the town. Quite a few of the original 1903 buildings still stand so it's recommended as a "haunted hike." I knew about the mine in Nighthawk but had never heard about the mines on the B.C. side. WA government and US government are blocking off access to so many mines. I hope you can get down to our state at some point and document some mines before they get closed down.
Merry Xmas and a happy healthy new year Frank and Sharon . That 20litre pail you found with fuse bundles . Those are tape fuse - they have a blasting cap at one end, and an ignitor with a metal cap that has a slit in it at the other end . That slit is to slide in some thermolite wire, then crimp it securely on all the fuses for each hole you have loaded with explosives. 40 or so holes in a small drift round. Then you light the thermolite, and it in turn will ignite all the fuse in the order they have been crimped onto the thermalite . For blasting oversize and small shots you can flip up the crimp end and manually light the tape fuse with a lighter . Its been a while, but I think it was a burn rate of 1 foot / minute . I did cringe a bit when you tossed those fuse bundles on the ground - they still have blasting caps attached - and a whole bundle of those somewhat old caps going off in close proximity to you, would probably be ugly - shrapnel from the caps as well .
Seasons greetings to you both 🎄 🎅 It did look confusing lots of places to explore. Oh no Sharon's going in without the rat protection hoodie. It was so big when you moved into the newer part - I say newer but still over 60 years. That tipping cart was super cool. Look forward to seeing some more of the Danko. Thank you Sharon and Frank. Take care and be safe. 👷🏻♂️⛏👷🏻♀️⛏ ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi folks , Happy Crimbo to you all , Hi Frank Hi Sharon great one for Xmas day looks very interesting and extensive ⛏🏕🎅🏻🐀🐀 Have great Christmas 🎅🏻look forward to the next one 👍
I'm just sitting here thinking of all the time it must have taken to dig out these tunnels like this. I wonder how many people passed away in working this mine? Thank you for taking us along with you guys on your exploration of these mines. It's beautiful and suspenseful all at once. You all be safe and careful.
Hi Frank & Sharon, what a cool find, I think this mine is going to be pretty expansive. Do you think it will connect with any other mines ???. Thank you for sharing, I hope you both have a great Christmas, much love. xx ❤🎄✨
Frank, my son Robbie and I ran into a not so nice rattler in a tunnel up there. He threw a rock and hit it and it got pissed off and came for us so we ran out. It had been sitting on a pack rat nest that about filled the tunnel.
I’m guessing you will leave us some free ester eggs artifacts when you open your mine, can’t wait I’m bringing my flat boy. Everything is commonwealth in Canada.
What an amazing (but creepy) mine! Love the video! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from NB Canada! Also, looked like a creature skittered off into the shadows at 5:10? Awesome!
Hi, just came across your channel, going to binge watch :) I've recently bought a piece of gold/silver ore from Danko Mine. When did the mine close do you know?
Well Frank you got some more toys if you can figure a way to get them out and back to your Museum well you and Sharon look like you're having a lot of fun you guys take care and Merry Christmas to you
@@exploringabandonedmines well how are you going to cut a road in if he won't let you make Road isn't there an easement through that property to get you your property
Here we go again. Lead the way Frank. Don't scare the animals, their armed with sh*t. Found the main line! Locomotive, cool. And now the found a cool ore cart. Walking around in circles.

@@exploringabandonedmines OMG!
Merry Christmas to All and to All a goodnight.
5ish years ago I started watching your videos. Now you inspired me to work in a mine!
I couldn't love it more.
I love it underground. I love even just shoveling muck underground but hate doing the same on the surface!
I've heard about this; mine just haven't been to it through, so it's pretty cool watching you and your wife go explore em and hearing about the history about them.
For next year I hope you do more educating about the history and geology of these mines 👍

Epic episode. With how many raises and declines you guys went past, that mine looks like a monster. Looking forward to part 2!
We went back and explored them later in future episodes.

Glad you enjoyed it
Here in the UK we try to respect mining artefacts we find and leave them undisturbed and intact for others to enjoy.
I guess you have a lot more than we have. We are trying our bet to look after what is left.
Thanks Merry Christmas to you and your family.

2:47 I spent about an hour and a half hunting, and can't nail that engine down. A *lot* of the design looks like a pre-war Wisconsin engine.
