Continuity check is what that plug is for, I'm not sure the exact sequence but it'll tell you if certain parts have power to them.
The line that was severed from the metal lines, is your vacuum advance which you had bypassed up and over showed at 8:50. I would save the cannister for the tank vent or cut it back away from the cab. don't plug it
Great video,I'll be doing this on a 82 I just bought. Same issues too,chugging, no power, shuts off. Hopefully it's this easy

I do not know if it will or not. Im guessing they will not approve.
@TheAngryHoneyBadger thanks. I live in California and they are more strict about this. Was looking into changing my carb out but it doesn't seem to be an option if I have to smog it. Thanks a lot man.
