Great video! This kind of voice recorder is really convenient and easy to use. Not long ago, I bought a voice recorder of this renhotecic brand. After using it for a period of time, it feels very convenient and the effect is good. If you need a portable recording, you can use one as a spare.
Great video! Since you looked at quite a few spy pens, I'd like to pick your mind a little bit. I've looked at tons of reviews and videos , and can't seem to find what I'm exactly looking for. I was looking for the best spy pen that has the following, one touch record and shut off with NO lights on while recording or in pause mode, sd card( larger space like this one, at least 64gb) , good low light/night vision, wider angles, some form of stabilization( or best one available)so there is less movement when wearing in a shirt pocket, and 1080p or better. I know that's a lot to ask of a spy pen , but I figure if anyone would be able to help it would be you. Again, thanks for the great video, and any help you could give me regarding my specifications.
Great questions. You won’t get all of that in a spy pen or any spy device for that matter. 1080p yes, 128gig yes, 1 button record yes, no blinking light yes. It will blink briefly when you pause recording, it will blink briefly as you get the video started (you got to have some indication that it is working). And it will blink briefly when you turn it off. In regards to stabilizing it, attach it to a backpack or something firmer then a shirt pocket. I only ever hold the device in my hand or lay it down on the table (rarely). Don’t know of any wide lenses or low light. An camera is going to be grainy in those conditions (even my camcorder). And considering the size of the device, it’s really asking a lot. What do you want to use it for?

Ok thanks! I’m a real estate investor, so I was looking to use it on my house tours, which has a wide variety of lighting , and situations. I’ve taken pics in the past, but doing pics and video, and staying still can be challenging at times. So there isn’t any pic taking with this model that you did the video on, correct?
If you want to do a video tour I would just use your phone or a camcorder so you can see what you are documenting. And most camcorders have a photo option while videotaping just like a cell phone. Though I think the quality of video would b fine if you were using this pen, your phone would be good enough or a camcorder

Hi I have a quick question & I hope you can please reply back bcus the company is not. The plug & play adapter I hook it up on my iPhone but I can’t see the videos & I already installed a few of the apps that were recommended but not luck. I can see them on my laptop but not on my iPhone. Please help. Is there a new app? I can see other files that I have on my laptop wen I plug it in my iPhone but not the videos from my pen. Please help. Thanks

Might be bad in motion. Perhaps this could be useful for catching something while stationary? Sitting at a desk or standing in line at a store. I want my son to capture some questionable teaching practices at school but the audio might require a different device.

I have two questions. Does this take a regular micro SD card? If so, would make the most sense to just buy the 16gb one for $59 and then buy a 128gb card separately for $20. Second, how does it work if you lay it on a table or counter? Would I have to use something to prop it up or does it lay with the lens facing out?I use IVE, I should be able to just rotate the video upright afterwards. I’ve been using a Lawmate key fob but sometimes it’s too time consuming to connect to my phone to get the thing up and running. I want something quick into action
Great question. Yes, get the less expensive one and buy your own Micro SD. Secondly, that is one of the drawbacks fo a spy pen is the lay it down factor. Key fob is better for that. Get a key fob that doesn't require a connection to your phone. Put a link to that device so I can take a look at it. Get comfortable with videotaping without actually seeing on a monitor what you are documenting (if you aren't already doing that). Put the link in the comments

1:06 that's EXACTLY the problem for a "spy pen".
What about the viewing hight. Some pen cameras are to high in some pockets. So with no pocket, what happens then? I presume the pen cannot attach anywhere else. The video did not tell us about that situation.
This is where I want you to think outside the box as an investigator. You could attach it to a backpack, a notepad, hold in your hand (which is what I always did). Its perfect for an investigator who is following folks into stores.
Yes if I wanted discreet at that leval, I have many options of hidden cameras that are way more sophisticated. But if your not a Private Investigator, but want to use this pen for general use, it's pretty limited. For the public, you'd have to be wearing a shirt with the right hight pocket. No good wearing a T-shirt or something like that. I mean it's no good on your belt is it. So for public use the pen is limited. For an Investigator, they would use more sufficient equipment. They may not use this pen because it can be noticeable. It's to big and may look out of place. But I understand what your point is.

Yeah. Because it isn’t a camcorder. I challenge you to share a spy camera that does what you are asking. It doesn’t exist. No one care about that in investigation. This isn’t cinematography. This is covert video

I have been looking for a spy camera to use discreetly... unfortunately, in the video, you never explained where the camera was positioned when you entered Costco or dart... in the comments, you mention you had it held in your hand, but what good is that when you don't want people to notice you spying on them?
For the record, I'm not trying to actually spy on people... I just want to have it in case I am put in an awkward situation (police encounter, getting robbed, etc)...
It looks like a pen. So why would someone think you are spying on them if your are holding a pen in your hand? So arms to my side with my pen in my hand up right. I have video taped people for 100’s of hours in that position. Its covert, it is not as if I was walking around with a video camera in my hand. For my purposes, it works great. It might not be a good fit for you. Try looking for some key chain cameras like the 808 key chain camera on Amazon

My only input would be a lack of seeing it's outdoor capabilities. There was a couple seconds before you went into the store. But I'd be curious to see a little more. Sound quality when it has to deal with crowds, wind noise, etc.
I appreciate the feedback. I have a window of time I give myself to cover some of the key situations a private investigator might deal with. I know folks outside of the pi world watch these but I have only so much time to put these together. Its a good spy camera. But no camera is going to be perfect (especially a spy camera). For the cost and the longevity (I still have my first one from them and it still rocks)

Like all spy pens I have seen so far...NONE have a truly wide angle lens. Catching the action...WHAT HAPPENED....even with "fish eye" distortion common with a wide angle lens....is THE most important feature of any sort of body worn video recorder. A pen whose wide angle lens can be adjusted downward just a bit to counter the "angling up" of most shirt worn video pens....would also be a big plus. We know that consumer level body worn video cameras with wide angle lenses have BIG lenses......but....there are a lot of even older cell phones out there with separate wide angle lenses that are small and do a great job....like the separate wide angle lens on my old LGV20 cell phone. So...spy pen makers....GET WITH IT...and also figure in some species of video stabilization ah-la Go Pro....oh....and give us the low light capability of a 20 dollar Wyze V3 home security video camera !
No, most don’t have extremely wide angles but that has never stopped me from getting footage that I need to get in the last 16years. I think the mistake you make is assuming that this is a body camera when in fact, I never used it attached to my body. Body cameras in general are not really covert which is what these sort of spy cameras are all about. Now you can use older phones and get wide angle lenses on them but you are just drawing attention to the device which defeats the purpose of a spy camera. Go pros have a huge lens. You are asking a bit much from such a small device. I have used many many spy cameras and some have more advantages then others. But again, you are comparing apples to oranges. I have a Wyze camera but again...bigger device. We use these very specific ways that I don’t think you are familiar with hence your harsh judgements. I take video from these cameras to court and they are great.
@@PrivateInvestigatorAdvice Well...perhaps you and I have worked different streets. Note that all the cop body cams have a field of view of AT LEAST 120 degrees because that is really the minimum that is needed to have a good chance of captureing more of the action in front of you. I ended up making my own 1080P pen camera out of a 30 dollar MateCam that has a 120 degree FOV...I just wish somebody made a commercial version that is not so fragile as my prototype. If you happen to find one....pls send me the info and I will buy it in a heartbeat.

These aren't GoPros and aren't meant for you to film shit while you walk around. They're meant for you to sit across a desk and film your quack doctor mistreat you. Indoor stuff. And it has to work in less than perfect light. The cheap $30 spy pens work but not well. I like the single function of this one, especially since a one push function pauses it and starts again with another single push. So what sort of price range are we talking here? You can go as high as $175+ for a Vimel spy pen.
