This short video is very helpful!
I visited Berlin 10 yrs ago so my reference is very much out of date😅 the train looks like it would be a smoother, more spacious ride than the old airport bus.

    It‘s 4,90€ one way for anyone that‘s interested. Whereas a taxi can cost you 30€ + ☝️

Gorilla - in 2018 you would have arrived at Tegel - the "OLD" Berlin airport. It was not possible to catch a train to or from Tegel at ANY time, as it had no train station & was not serviced by any train. Buses or taxis/rideshare were the only option (apart from your own vehicle). The new Berlin airport (BER) has its own train station & is directly serviced by the FEX. I believe the train operates about 21 hours per day, stopping at around 1am & resuming at about 4.30am.

Its also served by S Bahn, Regio and even InterCity trains! And in the future there’s an U Bahn extension planned ;)

This method works if the traveler doesn’t bring 2+ luggages. I recently used the FLEX and U barn from the airport to downtown Berlin. It was tiresome, as the stations for my transit didnt have the elevator work. I need to hand carry two heavy luggages between different platforms

Typical, the elevators and escalators are often broken on German transport

Are you able to use the same ticket for your onward journey?

Within Berlin yes, but not for rides to other destinations in Germany.

Even after 12 pm or later?
Because once (2018) I arrived really late and only buses were available, had to take an Uber 🥲😅

new airport now and there are quite a lot more transportation methods such as the s-bahn (s45 or s9) and the regional train (FEX). the s-bahn usually has services from 3 or 4 am to about 1:30 am
