When you compare a game with Tenchu you're raising the bar to such a level that anyone who pays attention to you will know the amount of quality you're trying to convey! The missing shadows thing is really offputting. Other than that this game looks amazing. I love to play even games that aren't meant to be stealth games in some sort of stealthy fashion. In Breath of the Wild, most of my kills were from afar or above with arrows and bombs and I avoided hand to hand combat as much as possible. Awesome review, Mark!

I really loved the original Tenchu and its sequel, so when you mentioned your character's fragility in open combat and the fact that you get bonuses for avoiding killing, I thought: "that's not Tenchu, that's classic Thief!" But still, great review overall. I appreciate you telling us the drawbacks of this port too, that's a huge factor in deciding whether to get games on this system or on others 😀
I have this on ps4, and on the surface this game doesn't look like much. Once I started playing it I was pleasantly surprised. I too am a huge Tenchu fan, and this one feels alot like "Shadow Assassin's" which was my favorite. The stealth ranking system is similar to Dishonored which is also a good thing. Great video Bro. You convinced me to try it. I got the Shadow edition which includes the dlc that allows you to pick between the male and female characters. Once again just like Tenchu. 👍
This game scratches my stealth itch; I love the switch but there are so few really good stealth games for it. Reminds me equally of Tenchu, Dishonored, and Splinter Cell.
Just picked it up for £3 down from £15 played a few missions, first killing everyone then no kills and its great fun! 100% worth 3 quid and I'd of probably paid full price for it too! (So far)
Oh god Tenchu! The time I spent on that game......awesome. This looks great but doesn’t look like much of a graphical improvement and £20.....a bit steep maybe....I will be keeping an eye on it and will definitely pick it up if it drops to around £15ish. Great review, thanx 👍🏼

Honestly, the shadows' draw distance kinda makes the Switch version a no from me. It's too important in this game. I'll have to pick the game up elsewhere.

I bought this game for $22 coz I miss Rikimaru the LEGENDARY NINJA of Tenchu: Stealth Assassin... I love this game even though it's not perfect atleast I can tell it has a tenchu vibe on it. I also got TENCHU games on my mobile phone via emulator.
Seems interesting and fun and I like the style as well! The only downside for me is what you said... The shadows rendering and the repetition! Great review! I'll keep an eye on it I'll get this or the 2D version alternative: Mark of the ninja (or both... XD)
Greetings guys, i was thinking about this today. have you guys ever considered posting your conclusions section of game reviews to metacritic or open critic? i feel like they would be extremely helpful as most on the sites dont really have great break downs or often just repeat and review spam with one copy pasted review
Huge bummer about those shadows. I hope that's something they can patch, as it almost seems like it would be worth losing other detail at a distance to keep those. I already own this on Steam, so probably the actual result here is I'll be prompted to go finish it there. So, thanks! 😉

Last year I had an issue of no software that connects with the. After the direct today, we'll now I have another problem, too many games I want, not enough time or money. Plus I want my son to do more than play nintendo
The guards have light swords so they are ready for a shadow monster but if it someone with an actual weapon they are defenseless... Sorry Linceworks this is not what true Ninja fans are after but Sekiro is coming next month so its ok.
Well the protagonist is someone who can blink next to you in an instant and is supposedly extremely difficult to see in the shadows, and the very purpose of stealth is to catch people off guard? I’m not sure what it is you’re after. Not to mention if a guard does spot you they will act VERY quickly

I think you’ll still have fun with this game. You have different abilities you can invest in and use to make the gameplay experience diverse
