David Wilcox was so unique, so different from any other Canadian acts at the time, it’s amazing that he was Canadian. Was big with the Grade 12/13 and university crowds back in the 80s. Guy looks amazing for his age.
I have this exact Vinyl, has all his best songs! Took a while to find. My dad loved David wilcox, I love him, my daughter loves him, and I hope that carries on. This is music
I have seen him four times all in Kitchener at Blues Festival and he never disappoints Me each time I saw him he was just incredible each time better then the last I saw him by far one of my personal favorites
I think I wore my cassette out repeatig this song. I love David Wilcox. My wife and I saw him at a small venue in Niagara Falls - man he was so much fun. I've been trying to find him in concert again ever since.
I love this! Thank you for highlighting a Canadian treasure. One day he will get the respect he deserved all along. He took the blues and made them his own, in fine fashion...thats Rocknroll baby! Good choice people
i'm in my 60's now and still love to play his hits ..hooked from the 80s ..live in florida now ,and it's a shame how little he is known her...but his songs put me back to my toronto hamilton ,sparrow lake days .
I saw David at The Knob Hill Hotel in Scarborough Ont, late 70's. Then at The Nags Head North bar, just north of Toronto Ont. in the 80's. Had a great time. Great music.
Thanks for sharing this video Dave. I saw you play many times in and around St. Catharines years ago. I always loved the way you loved your guitar and it loved you right back. Perfect companionship you have with your guitar. You played the Welland House ( it's gone now... burned down a few months ago) in St. Catharines a few times and they were all great parties. Hope to see you again in the near future. Peace, Walter
Nags Head North - 1980 - 83 worked there. I would not miss a night. Looked after band room between sets. Very beginning I use to sit and chat with David before his evening in banquet room later to be main stage. So talented. David reborn!!! 👏👏👍👍
He played at Tonys East back in the 80s....Sent a note to him to wish Happy Birthday Buzz.....he broke out a song he made instantly....Ah I didnt get a buzz.....priceless....
That's how we kept our beer cold was a netted type bag we would load up with beer and hang in of the side of the boat and it kept the beer warm all day and the ice we used for the fish and if anyone came around no one would see any beer anyway been up to Lake Muskoka many times and know some people with cottages on that lake go up every summer to get away from the big city. Looks like David is going to be up to Lake Muskoka this summer in Bala for two nights too
Did you do a lot of takes recording this Dave, was there a lot of punch ins and doubled guitars. That intro sounds like three or more playing harmonies, really gives it a horn section feel.
Indeed. Shame on Boom 97.3 FM for not playing more David Wilcox. Wilcox is easily one of Canada's greatest guitarists and arguably one of Canada's greatest songwriters.
It's 2023 and I'm going to a David Wilcox concert this weekend. Life truly is a riverboat fantasy lol

Stop saying "was", he's not dead you know, in fact, he's got a daughter who's quite accomplished also.

David Wilcox is the reason I play guitar.

David Wilcox is the reason I like to hear David Wilcox play guitar.
A total national treasure that never gets the respect he deserves. Incredible guitarist and simply "Too Cool".
I was handed a cassette in the mid80’s

Dave's music was so much fun..... drinking beers in Northern Ontario with your buds
He had his own unique sound, and was great live.
David Wilcox is a national Treasure and "Layin Pipe" is one fo the greatest bangers of all time
I don't know why, as in; for one reason specifically....but I have always loved this song.

I was there to see him around that time. I worked in Thornhill at the time and went there after work. It was a great show. Great bar too.

“…and… a little companionship… some supplies…” brilliant
Proud Winnipegger...and a die-hard Jets and Blue Bombers fan!
Wow my little cover band did some of Davids tunes , most everyone liked the music even if they never heard his songs.
