- Godox has decided to revamp and rebrand their budget LED moonlight lineup with some incredibly compact offerings under the new name Litemons. Do they live up to their reputation for bang for the buck, or do they cut too many corners? Let's find out! We'll also be closely comparing it with the strangely similar Smallrig RC120 series.

Watched both videos and leaving toward the small rig 120d. Case and the fact you can run batteries is good for me.
It has certainly come in handy many times.
I have the exact same power switch issue a week into using it, I removed the cover and see it's soldered to the circuit board and hot glued to the cover on the other side. Before I try to replace the switch, I thought I give the switch a few good taps with the 2.5mm allen key I used to remove the cover. To my surprise, it's back working like new again lol.
Haha nice! But also Not nice 🤔
Good to know not getting this light again 🤣
Thanks for the your time and effort put into this very detailed video! it helps many including me. great work
Geez the artifacts in the video with the lightning effect. Good Review Wes.
I didn’t check the RUclips version. Looked great in the original edit at least 😂🤦🏻♂️
@@WesPerry It wasn't meant to be a critic. Just saying geez something went wrong. and more thank likely you are are correct.
Oh yeah, I totally picked up what you were putting down. RUclips is what it is ;)
Thanks!! I was looking for a review for this light. This is really useful!!
I was waiting this review. Thanks Wes for a detail review and comparison with the SM RC120. Both has pros and cons. For me the Output and arm bracket it’s very good elements on the Godox but no V- battery option it’s disappointed for me. Meanwhile the arm bracket durability of the Smallrig it’s questionable the option of V-battery and less fan noise it’s a plus. It’s a complicated decision here which one it’s better to buy.
Yeah, like I said at the end, I’m not sure. Haha
Thanks for the review. Very useful 😍.
thanks for a great video....Would the Amaran 100/200 be the better buy over the Godox Litemon series...since the cable loooks large...power ac
The power brick and cable look quite similar on the amran…I can’t speak to this myself but some have speculated that they’re both the same light on the inside.
your vids are always useful. thank you for the effort and the sharing. i am an appreciative subscriber. BIG thumbs up.
Thanks!
Finally
The Fair ❤ ..
Thanks, great xlr info!
All for you! Haha
Question : How would you power that light in the field ? I guess you can take 4 12V bateries connect them in series and get 48V , that would be very simple to construct , solder some wires ... but Charging ...hmmm.. so my question stands , how do you run it at field
Aputure actually makes a product specifically for this… but mount and batteries will set you back quite a bit (in comparison to the relatively low price of godox gear)

@@WesPerry oh yes , well im not a professional , i am ammeter , i can get 4 12V cells from motor bikes connect them in series and get 48V with unlimited Amperage , charge them in parallel all at once with car charger , make few connection and a box , all of that will cost me about 60$ , if i do it well it may even look professional :)
But im a lawyer , and i feel that kind of gear you are showing me is for pro Videographers , studios and pro photographers .
Tho i have to pay 400$ for the baterry , light , stand and softbox ... just one item , its not cheap at all , considering i alrady have 600$ invested in lights but speed lights .
And god knows how many cameras i have i dont even know , but i prefer to shoot stills with Canon 5D , gives me what i want the fastest , files are not huge , processing power not a problem .
And so on ...I think best bet for me is to make that battery .
So when would you pick the SL150 over this LA150?
The SL series is much larger/heavier. If it’s going to be in and out of bags and sets all day, it would probably more the way to go. The LA150 just isn’t as rugged.
looks like you forgot about Amarans :)))
I don’t know how 42 dB sounds but it did seem like you could hear the Litemons fan when you leaned into it. I think you mentioned the SmallRig was maybe 38 dB. Is it audibly a big difference? Would you say the Godox Litemons would still be okay for interviews near a mic?
Not a big difference no. It’s barely audible, but will simply depend on what kind of mic setup you’re using.
Hey. You mentioned the arm locks down well. What is the largest size softbox you’d feel comfortable using on it?
I’ve been using a heavy 42” softbox on it with zero issues. Not even a chance it’ll be drooping.
Wow! That’s actually pretty impressive.
Thank you Wes. Probably my next light...when available. Out of stock everywhere 😩
It’s not Quite on the market yet ;)
It’s available on Amazon USA
Would you still recommend this light today? as Oct. 2022
It’s not That old! Lol
@@WesPerry ok haha, but besides you I dont see any other reviews,, at least very few, so I was wondering if it was a good product.
How does these compare with the Godox VL150?
The VL series is more their “professional” line, big and metal and rugged, where’s this Litemons series is designed as more of a value lineup, light and plasticy. You can take from that what you will ;)
@@WesPerryhow about the light quality? I dont mind the build
How does this compare against SL150ii?
It’s much smaller, with much lower build quality though (SL150ii is a Tank). And has an external power brick, while the 1500ii’s is internal.
Which one do you think is better rc120 or litemons 150?
Probably the Litemons overall.
Does work connect with camera please 🙏
Can Godox SA-17 mount on this Light?
yep!
@@WesPerry, Thank you 😍
Why not do a simple output test first and talk for hours? I don't get this. Are these reviews bought?
What do you mean by an “output test”?
The light output levels of these lights are within a margin of error simply related to their rated power consumption (which I do measure the curve of, from min to max to test for accuracy).
And since you asked, brands do routinely ask to buy my reviews, but are always declined. Godox has never asked, though, as often doesn’t even return my emails/messages, let alone offer money 🤷🏻♂️😂
Also, if this was bought, I probably wouldn’t have told you it was broken lol
I will have a long term update for this out soon (already started). The gist: power switch now works (after dozens of uses and hundreds of actuations), and bowens mount isn’t holding up very well.
