Honestly at the beginning it didn't seem like they were that bad. Hell Chris Best does a fthrow to pivot f-smash. I think it largely due to nerves. Being up on the biggest stage in Melee is nerve-wracking i'd imagine.
Pivot fsmashing is harder than hax dashing, at least doing it consistently. It's a one frame input. And that's besides the point. Chris Best had good movement, and good ideas, empty hop grabs, empty hop fsmash while his opponent was above him, shield drops, edge cancelled dairs. Granted I've only watched the first game. But he definitely looked like he knew what he was doing. I mean I've definitely seen worse players by a long shot.

Imo scar just seemed kind of rude to both players. I get you gotta make the game seem interesting but it just seemed like with all of his knowledge of the game he was just belittling them

Retired a few years later! After the embarrassment from this set, I got motivated to get up to 17th on NorCal PR and had some 65th places at Evo/Big House. Playing on stage got easier and easier but it's always nerve wracking!

In 2016 I was bored and tuned in to evo on twitch. This was the first tournament set of melee I ever watched and I cannot be happier.
