Had exactly same experience last year. Lost over 30% of my flock. I was saved by tetracycline. Applied it by instinct when every drug failed me. I was petrified! After tetracycline I backed it up with Amoxyline. All this happened before fowl typhoid vaccination schedule. I advice poultry farmers to treat their birds with antibiotics around 8weeks for prevention of fowl typhoid against their vaccination on the 10th week
Hello Doc. Well done. Sorry for the loss of that huge number of birds on our farm. It's great to always share such information, good or bad so as to get a lasting solution globally. It's good you got your hopes kept high
Really enjoying watching your videos. You are awesome. My dad raised chickens and loved his chickens more than his kids. When he came home from work each day he spent the rest of the evening taking care of his chickens. He got the local gardener to save all the leftover greens. My dad chopped all the greens finely and fed those greens to the chickens. He also got seashells and manually powdered them and mixed them with the feed which hardened the shell of the eggs. The chickens were very happy when my dad got back from work and they used to follow him. He had similar pens constructed for his chickens. One large pen was dedicated for mother hens and the baby chicks. Everyone wanted to buy my dad's eggs as they were super healthy as he fed them organic veggies from the local farmer. This is going back about 55 yrs ago. My dad's chickens laid eggs with double yolks. Good luck to you.
Keep on keepin' on bro.... I really like your quote in the beginning you can't kill the passion unless you kill the person.... You're amazing Daniel... Have a very blessed day... Still watching and as always I watch all the ads to help you get more money from RUclips
Courage brother, every poultry farmer has one of those days. Our hatchery once made a mistake and kept 35000 chicks that I was to receive 3 hours out of the incubators before bringing them. I wasn't informed about this, so that I could raise the temperature of my brooding barn. Result, the chicks caught cold and I lost 1500 of them b4 the end of that batch. Luckily they were only 2 barns out of my 4 barns. All the best brother ❤
Thank you very much for sharing your information and experience ! You are VERY inspiring, as well as uplifting to anyone who listens to your videos !! Never, ever give up and never give in !!! May the good LORD richly bless you !!!!!
Have courage brother. Soldier on. These are the real farming experiences. Most people only see the success and profits and don't pay attention to the mis-steps and heart-breaks
Appreciate your honesty and your experience,,,, wish you all the best in the future ,i to have experience of these horrific losses,,, but like you soldierd on
My mother puts fresh aloe vera pieces in their drinking water to control disease. May be you could try using them too. Otherwise sorry for the loss dear
Doc, take it from me, you are not a bad farmer. I have been doing poultry in Diani beach Kenya for more than 30 yrs. You can score 90% with one lot & 40% with another, NEVER GIVE UP!
this is not the first time in your channel, so you're not a bad farmer, always learn from bad situation , this is a lesson , and a better day would come.. never give up mate....
The only way around all these diseases in my opinion is getting the birds out on pasture as nature intended. You can keep them in mobile coops and chicken fence. You may have to reduce your flock size due to land space but will definitely be saving on other costs like meds, feed(10% less on pasture) and you'll ultimately have a much healthy nutritious product as a result. Just some food for thought Doc.
Now you made me stop ignoring fowl typhoid vaccine man. I always get upto fowl pox vaccine. Will vaccinate my KARI layers this weekend. And I feel your pain bud...we have to keep moving forward.
Love you Doctor Daniel. So sorry!!! Indeed we live, we learn. Will you do a video on all the cost, quantity and medical intervention for the birds. It's like an anticipate hidden cost that can creep on a Poultry farmer. Can you do a video on recommendation veterinary services available in Uganda. Rate their service to animal farmers.
Watching this from 2024. It really shows that Dr. Daniel really deserves his current success. He really went through it all. This video made me feel kind of sad actually.
How often do the birds get out of their house? Do they get fresh pasture daily? How is their waste matter handled? They could be spending too much time in their own poop.
keep on keeping on doc... all will be well bro... i like the enthusiasm n your attributing success to God. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed- 2nd Corrinthians 4;8,9
Hoping for the best for you. Buy or build a incubator if you can, and so you can hatch and keep your desired number of birds. Keep going you are doing a great Job/s🙏🏾❤💛💚
