For those asking about the black chicken, She was a cull from the feed store that they gave to us and we’ve had for almost 5 years. She was born that way👍❤️
Any flightless birds' protection against predators is running. Nugget saw the barn as a cave he would occasional go in for protection. Once you closed the door, his exist was blocked and his "Fight or Flight" instinct kicked in.
Jason I really loved this video. Goldie and Nugget know what they need. You and Brooke are so intuitive with your furred and feathered babies, always having their best life in mind. I love that. I'm hoping your winter garden makes it through the rough weather, certainly looks like it will, but time will tell. Ya'll stay warm ❤🙏❤
Pond area with the trees is beautiful. You folks are doing a great job developing the Cog Hill 40! It’s calming to watch your videos. Thank you for sharing with the Squad. 💕🇨🇦
Hi Jason (just a suggestion on the chicken bus) I feel side rails for the stairs would be A MUST! Not only will it prevent Brooke from slipping and getting hurt but it will also prevent you and Mary Carl from getting hurt as well
I thought that same thing when they first built the bus and every time I see one of them using those steps. Even one railing would help. It's not going to get safer as you get older either.
I love my dancing gardener back. I’ve been a fan for years. Liking every video because I truly do. But one thing I always remember is your chaketta banana hat and your dancing. That’s what kept me intrigued with your channel. I’m glad you’re cutting a move again. Plus I love how you’re always smiling. I couldn’t pick a better spouse for you than brook. You were meant to find each other. God blessed you both for finding each other.
My little silkie rooster is mean as a striped snake. I finally got him to quit flogging me. My son is 6'3" and weights 250 and he still goes after him, and he runs from him. It makes me laugh really hard.
God gave us these critters to care for. Glad to see the ice is gone. Ice is no fun unless your ice skating. Love your humorous conversations with the critters.
Here in Syracuse, New York it's cold and gray and 22°. Watching your video today warmed my heart! Nugget, Goldie, Biscuit, Sylvester, Moody and the boys, the chickens and geese, Peaches - I just love seeing them all! You and Brooke go the extra mile to make sure they are safe and comfortable, and it's like the love you spread to your farm comes right through the internet and fills me up with sunshine! Thanks for working hard to make and share these videos!
Just wanted to let you know that you and your family take great care of your animals/pets. They’re really all pets. In addition to the great care you give them you also shower them with love. Hope Brooke is feeling better. Yall take care in this crazy weather we’re having.
Nugget is the biggest sweetest Emu that I have ever seen compared to so many others that I have seen. Even Goldie seems sweet. Maybe one day close to as sweet as Nugget but not as sweet. Probably since y’all have loved on him since birth. So glad your garden is doing good. Hope this cold weekend doesn’t harm it.
I guess nugget had to show you. He is the sheriff he doesn't get put in stall lol. It's amazing how they can keep warm. But they did, good to know for the future. Love how the geese come running when you bring them the food. Glad your vegetables have survived so far Jason. Praying for Jami 🙏 🤲
IT has taken a while and it's wonderful to see the pond is filling up and the geese and ducks enjoying it! So much more of a natural setting for them. Everyone stay safe and warm 🙏
Cracked corn is the main ingredient in scratch feed for hundreds of years. The cracked corn and whole grains keep the crop working and the gizzard grinding away. That does produce energy.
I love how u love and care for your animals.. the moments with Jesse and Nugget especially. Amazing how the cats stay around and r so loving., even to the other animals…a CogHill video always puts a smile on my face!🩷🙏🩷
One of the things I love most about your videos is seeing how naturally you just start loving on the animals, especially when they come up to you. I have seen other channels that are so into making their video that they push them away. It makes me sad to watch them not take the time to give some affection to them. I love that you , Brook and Mary have such tender hearts for the animals and that you treat them like family.
You've let Nugget & Goldie have their freedom..💞 He doesn't like to be locked up. I imagine he did panic in a small area.. I'm glad to see their using the other shelter its more open & they can see whats coming at them.. Their in tune to their environment.😊 Have a great day.. 🩷🙏🙋🏼♀️🐈🐕
What a great, heart-warming video. Having dealt with claustrophobia, I understand those feelings of anxiety. How comforting it must have been for Nugget to have someone who understood what was happening and let him out. Again, thanks for sharing such a great video from start to finish. 😊
That’s all my mom fed our chickens when I was little w hatched the gags under our old heater in the living room. Baby chicks were everywhere we kids loved it
Glad it’s warming up. The way you and Brooke thought about getting Nugget used to the barn was interesting. Then you saw his reaction and changed plans. Good parents.
Here in Winnipeg, Manitoba it’s wonderful to see the racks of seeds showing up in the stores! God’s promise of spring to come! Despite the cold now. Take care all. ❤
Jason, when I get an aggressive roo, I catch him up, and haul him around upside down while I do the rest of my chores , like collecting eggs, feeding the girls etc. then cradle him in my arms while holding feet still and talk to him, like "we don't pull that around here etc" Ive never had a second problem. Roosters are easier to break of bad behavior than geese, but I do mean geese same way
Maybe Emu's are pretty adaptable to the cold? I am glad they are okay now. Mildred loves the hay. Hope the animals and the garden survive well in the cold days coming.
Great video Jason. So glad the big freeze has passed and temperatures are coming back to normal. All the animals were ok with all the love care and attention you gave. Have an enjoyable weekend take care and God Bless. 💕🙏
Hope Brooke is feeling better 🙏🙏 Praying for her and Jami who had. Surgery today 💗💗 I'm glad that Nugget is doing better now but he is on the outside, he didn't want to be in the barn. God bless the family 🙏🙏🙏
You know it is all about the roots! I would imagine the corn takes more energy to digest, thus producing body heat? Nugget might have thought he was being captured! Neco at Our Brown Farmhouse, has Frankie their Emu and he goes in and out of his house at will without a door! I think closing the door set him off! Just leave the door open and he will go in and out when he wants to. If he's cold, he will figure it out and go where he wants! (You know aa lot of crimes happen at night, so he has to be available! LOL! )
Good Morning All. It's still snowing in Elverson,Pennsylvania. Hope you all have a good day. Would love 70's here. I love your honey. Im not a coffee drinker. Lv and Prayers all.
Just shoveled 6-8 inches of snow.. We had 3-4 inches yesterday. For the last 5 days single digits to negative temps. Next week mid 30°s, it will feel like Spring. January thaw? Brrrr NW Indiana up by Lake Michigan
My heart is full when I see how much you care for your critters. Love watching the progress of those greens as well. So glad they didn't freeze burn. So far anyway. The sheriff is looking good. As is your entire farm. God bless y'all and y'all be good.
I'm betting Nugget felt trapped. He feels better when he can do his patrols. 🤔😊 It was nice to see that it looks like your garden survived the cold temperatures. That is good news indeed. 💖🙏💖
Was 4 below here in midcoast Maine at 6:15 am this morning. So glad you are warming up .Nugget is a free spirit and has too live free of walls I get that .❤
I used to have a chicken up here in New England who would always sleep on the horse's back to stay warm when it got REAL cold... like 10 degrees and below. Not sure the horse appreciated it though. One thing is for sure... we are far better prepared for the cold up here than Alabama. Then again.. we're not growing Collard Greens in January.. that's for SURE. 😅
Glad you all are warming up. We warmed up yesterday to 75 and it felt great but the north wind and temps are back again today. Keep an eye out for that with your garden this weather has been crazy this year for us southerners.
BEING CLAUSTROPHOBIC, IS A SCARY EXPERIENCE BUT NUGGET PROBABLY FELT OUT OF CONTROL AND THAT IS NEW FOR HIM. .......................GLAD THEY ARE ALL DOING SO WELL.
I think the reasoning behind the corn is that their digestive system works harder to break it down which helps them stay warm. That's what I've been told anyway.
It's not that the digestion works harder, it's that the corn quickly metabolizes into sugars, providing energy which converts to heat. This is what distinguishes corn from grains that are slower to metabolize and cause less spikes in sugars. The fast metabolization equals energy.
Great video, I'm glad everybody made it through the storm fine even your garden seems to look good. Praying for healing for Brooke. Enjoy your blessed day XXXO 💕😁
🌺Happy Birthday Brooke🌺 Hope you have a wonderful day!!! Hope your garden makes it ok, I am know that you will do your best for the animals, you care so much! That's why we love you guys! God Bless!
Good morning Jason, it’s Love’s Priceless Warmth that keeps the Cog Hill Collective warm during these cold snaps. Warmest thoughts to you, Brooke and MaryCarl. 😀👍👍👍
Aww Nugget, maybe you felt a little closed in you are used to the wide open spaces and having that free feeling. I'm glad you're o.k. go find your happy spot and relax.😊
Good call on letting Nugget seek out his place of comfort when it's cold. So glad SO FAR that your garden is doing well. Last year was a disaster so that cloth really is working. Every one looks happy and glad that the weather is getting warmer. Next week will be a good reprieve for them. God bless!
For those asking about the black chicken, She was a cull from the feed store that they gave to us and we’ve had for almost 5 years. She was born that way👍❤️
Thank you, Jason. I was just going to ask. 👍
guess I didn't eagle eye them as well as I thought, 5 Years?
Now that is real diversity. Could not expect more from Cog Hill. ❤️
That black chicken is beautiful 😍
😅Jimmy crack corn and chickens do care! 😅
Hi..... Thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍👌👌👌
Peaches has changed so much since the move! She just goes all over now, where before she just laid into her house! She loves the new barn!
She used to walk everywhere at the old Cog Hill Farm and slept under their carport 😅
I just Love Moody. ❤. He is such a Handsome gentleman ❤❤
Any flightless birds' protection against predators is running. Nugget saw the barn as a cave he would occasional go in for protection. Once you closed the door, his exist was blocked and his "Fight or Flight" instinct kicked in.

I was thinking same thing. Totally safer 💯
Yep. I’m with y’all. Railing!!
I love how Nugget is definitely listening to you talk!

Glad you guys are warming up.
My Granny fed her chickens dried corn. I have their corn shelter for dried corn. We gathered a lot of eggs 😃🇺🇸💖
The sheriff thought he was in jail ! Another wonderful video, hope Brooke is feeling better and you all have a great day
I love how the ducks and geese swam over to where you feed them when you poured their feed in their container.
God gave us these critters to care for. Glad to see the ice is gone. Ice is no fun unless your ice skating. Love your humorous conversations with the critters.

Also please keep Jami in your prayers today. She has surgery today. Thank you all . She is a very strong woman but still needs our prayers.
Prayers for Jamie🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Absolutely! Praying for a good outcome on Jami's surgery.
Amen
Absolutely🙏🙏🙏
Jason, do you talk to the chickens and thank you for their thanked them for their eggs when you’re by yourself and not filming
Jesse is a babydoll.
IT has taken a while and it's wonderful to see the pond is filling up and the geese and ducks enjoying it! So much more of a natural setting for them. Everyone stay safe and warm 🙏
It's such a beautiful scene looking at all the birds swimming in your pond now
I wish everyone took care of their animals like you do! Love you all
I can't tell you often enough, but I enjoy your videos. Y'all are an impressive couple and family working a well run farm. Thank you. 😊
Thank you so much and so glad you enjoy 😊
Jason, you are a remarkable caretaker !!! I look forward to seeing you and Brooke.
Love those frost covers from Hoss Tools. They did an amazing job !! So glad you’re starting to thaw out up there.
Cracked corn is the main ingredient in scratch feed for hundreds of years. The cracked corn and whole grains keep the crop working and the gizzard grinding away. That does produce energy.
Mr Cheese is so precious coexisting and guarding his chicken friends ❤
Biscuit is such a pretty girl. Nugget is something else!
Sheriff Nugget just wanted to be able to protect his farm animals.
I love how u love and care for your animals.. the moments with Jesse and Nugget especially. Amazing how the cats stay around and r so loving., even to the other animals…a CogHill video always puts a smile on my face!🩷🙏🩷

Glad that Nugget is ok, evidently he doesn’t like close spaces. Have a great day and hope all is well.
So glad y’all and the animals have survived the cold. Happy Birthday Brooke. God’s blessings
Amazing what the sunshine can do to lift our spirits after a deep freeze in weather. I love all your dogs--EVERY ONE OF THEM!
What a great, heart-warming video. Having dealt with claustrophobia, I understand those feelings of anxiety. How comforting it must have been for Nugget to have someone who understood what was happening and let him out. Again, thanks for sharing such a great video from start to finish. 😊

Jason and Brooke you certainly pay such attention to your animals when you try something new. Nugget is so lucky.❤😊
I agree 👍 he must have thought he had done something wrong.😂 Well at least you know that you can't lock him up.❤❤❤❤
Glad it’s warming up. The way you and Brooke thought about getting Nugget used to the barn was interesting. Then you saw his reaction and changed plans. Good parents.
We love all your animals, and worry about them too in this freezing weather. God bless y'all.❤🙏🙏❤
Here in Winnipeg, Manitoba it’s wonderful to see the racks of seeds showing up in the stores! God’s promise of spring to come! Despite the cold now. Take care all. ❤
You are so right Jason! As ‘animal’ parents we worry about what we think they need, when nature knows what they need!
Wondering if Nugget was fearful of the blue van in there?
I love it that you have all those different colored eggs. I smile every time I see you collect them!🥚🥚🥚🍳🍳🍳🥚🥚🥚
Got my fingers crossed for the CHF garden!! Thank you for another wonderful video!
Silkys are looking happy, we miss Mary Carls wisdom and teachings
Good morning Cog Hill family. Will keep finger cross for the garden 💖
Maybe Emu's are pretty adaptable to the cold? I am glad they are okay now. Mildred loves the hay. Hope the animals and the garden survive well in the cold days coming.

Good morning Cog Family. Nice to see you are warming up. Your plants are doing really well. 😊🤗💞🐖🐷🐓🦃🐐🐮🦢🦆🐈⬛🐕

Happy Birthday, Brooke. Loved seeing all the animals today. They are so well taken care of.
Great news that it’s warming up. The cats are not afraid of the large farm animals
They all have gotten used to each other ❤️
I used to have a chicken up here in New England who would always sleep on the horse's back to stay warm when it got REAL cold... like 10 degrees and below. Not sure the horse appreciated it though.

@@CogHillFarmSure hope your Greens all make it Jason. You have worked SO hard on that beautiful garden. 🙏
Thanks Jason down on COG HILL FAMILY FARM = Thanks very much 🙏🙏🙏 👍

Glad you all are warming up. We warmed up yesterday to 75 and it felt great but the north wind and temps are back again today. Keep an eye out for that with your garden this weather has been crazy this year for us southerners.
I'm so grateful for you and Brooke caring for your animals 🙏🏼🥰
Thank you so much!
BEING CLAUSTROPHOBIC, IS A SCARY EXPERIENCE BUT NUGGET PROBABLY FELT OUT OF CONTROL AND THAT IS NEW FOR HIM. .......................GLAD THEY ARE ALL DOING SO WELL.
That pond looks so cold. 😊 Hope the garden survives. 😊
I think the reasoning behind the corn is that their digestive system works harder to break it down which helps them stay warm. That's what I've been told anyway.
True and the high starch content provides the carbohydrate for energy.
It's not that the digestion works harder, it's that the corn quickly metabolizes into sugars, providing energy which converts to heat. This is what distinguishes corn from grains that are slower to metabolize and cause less spikes in sugars. The fast metabolization equals energy.
Dried worms can be fed as a treat when it’s cold too. Thought they had meal worms grubs, it’s a dried worm. ❤
It’s the high carb content gives them fuel to warm up
Beautiful cloud pattern in your blue sky with a balmy 38 degrees.😊
Happy Birthday Brooke! Sending prayers
Great video, I'm glad everybody made it through the storm fine even your garden seems to look good. Praying for healing for Brooke. Enjoy your blessed day XXXO 💕😁
I wish we were going to be in the 70’s!!! I’m ready for Spring!
Sure are glad everybody are good and expecting warmer weather.. God bless❤
SUCH FRIENDLY AND ADORABLE ANIMALS ON YOUR FARM
We got 4 inches and now another 3 inches of snow with Temps hanging around the 20s! So enjoy your weather!❄️🌨😳
Those silkies are so cute❤ Love the scene around the hay feeded. All the fur babies make me feel wonderful ❤❤❤

🌺Happy Birthday Brooke🌺 Hope you have a wonderful day!!! Hope your garden makes it ok, I am know that you will do your best for the animals, you care so much! That's why we love you guys! God Bless!
Thank you so much!!😊
Nugget likes spending time with you Jason just as much as Holly does.
Can’t get over the amount of eggs the hens are producing. Wow! Glad you listened to the Emu. 😊. I am not surprised though. 😊 ❤
Good morning Jason, it’s Love’s Priceless Warmth that keeps the Cog Hill Collective warm during these cold snaps. Warmest thoughts to you, Brooke and MaryCarl. 😀👍👍👍

We’re getting the freeze starting tomorrow (here in SC). Then by Wednesday we will be in the 70’s. Love the roller coaster! Much ❤️❤️

You are so intuned with your animals ! ❤❤😊
The cold has drifted up to NC. We will be lucky to get out of the 30s for the next two days. And it’s windy. Well all be glad when this cold leaves
Watching the video ❤
Love the fur babies and all the feather ones too❤️
You are so kind😊❤️
So funny that we color our white eggs at Easter to look like natural eggs
A fam I follow in ALASKA, HAVE Some of the healthiest looking chickens I’ve seen. They give corn for that very reason, to help them keep warm.
The garden looks great, those collard greens looked like nothing happened at all. The frost cloth seemed to work a treat!
