People and @gadgetaddict wondering why Filipinos prefer wearing bicycle helmets instead (based on own exp and survey with peers): 1. They already bought an expensive motorcycle, the authorized helmet is much more expensive although SOME dealers provide an authorized helmet when you purchase a new motorcycle (even 2nd hand ones sometimes). If they don't provide a free one, they tend to buy a cheap one. 2. The biike helmets are way MORE lighter and cooler (referring to air coming thru) than the authorized helmets. We live in a very humid country and people (including myself) tends to sweat a lot when using the more expensive helmets. 3. They think bike helmets can save them if a vehicle runs over them. 4. They use the bike helmets (sometimes no helmet at all) when going to a nearby place or the DILAG (Diyan Lang Ako Gang) 5. They're hoping and praying that there will be no checkpount to wherever they're going. 6. The driver has an authorized helmet but the passenger does not have one. Going back to reason number 1.
Nearly every rider says they have a proper helmet. But for whatever reason, they prefer to use the bicycle / skateboard helmet. Often the real helmet is hanging on the bike, or in the back box. Otherwise they say it's at home. Most dealers provide 1 or 2 free helmets with the bike.
@@GadgetAddict Gadget, I am not a motorcycle rider, I don't even dare back-riding on a motorcycle because of safety concerns. But, when I hailed and rode an Angkas for the very first time because of time constraints, and the rider made me wear a certified helmet, I suddenly realized where they're coming from when they insist on not wearing a helmet . . . wearing a helmet is so uncomfortable and cumbersome, especially in the midst of this heatwave. Your peripheral vision is reduced, and your sense of hearing is greatly reduced. Be that as it may, nothing still beats wearing a helmet for safety purposes. Helmets save lives!
Are paper or E-DLs not valid? LTO has been campaigning for the use of EDLS due to the lack of plastic cards. QR codes are even provided alongside the EDLs when opening LTO's online portal.
With all the news letting public knows about riding a motorcycle laws! Still more & more are trying not to follow it.. They are risking them getting killed or to pay a hefty ticket 😊
Tricycles and all three wheeled vehicles that are motorized should alse be required to wear helmets and shoes. They are registered as motorcycles and the risk of ejection from the vehicle is the same as a motorcycle.
I don't understand, Filipinos are supposed to be the most "social-media aware". Surely they've seen those wearing these bike helmets are being penalized. So why keep buying and wearing them?

I think you misheard. What I said is that it's not his fault. They already have a huge problem with people presenting fake plastic licenses - with various security features being duplicated. Imagine how much easier it is when you just need a regular inkjet printer.

RA10054 (helmet law) specifically exempts tricycles.
