i aint driven here since the resurface, but. line 4 looks like it will give some good racing. will be near flat if you get it right. need to do a day here soon
@@Wolemid only after the first kink. but as i say last time I drove there was a year after they built pylon. I was smaller then. i only got to play in the rotax a few times
In some ways a shame because Pylon was my favourite corner on a track I usually struggled on, but needs must and I think this is a great solution whilst the work is going on - almost reminds me of the hook at LLandow albeit with a very different approach to the corner. 2023 I had my first half decent result at Rye so hopefully I can do that again this year; I definitely preferred the track after it was resurfaced!
I remember in the early 1990’s racing the OG layout. That right hander was scary af as you were tanking at great speed. I hit Lewis Hamilton on the OG circuit. He was just a kid, about 7 or 8. Sorry Lewis.
all my years karting (25 years of it) i have never driven any layout but Pylon at Rye, Granted i dont spend much time at Rye so may of missed it before pylon got put in, but i am looking forward to a different layout, hopefully its smoother than Whiltons
@ pilon didn’t exist in 1993/4 I’m absolutely sure of it. Also at T1 as you loop round (what’s that called? Lasso lol) there was a WW2 pillbox on the inside - so observers would see you disappear behind the pillbox and reappear into what I should say is T2 right hand before the left hand T3 before the straight leading into the first left hand hair pin. The straight was longer but they use a shorter straight these days (mostly). That hairpin is where I rammed into the side of Lewis Hamilton. :(
Might I add - observers would have been on the side of the start finish line which was where the cars and trucks parked in those days. Around the pit entry etc.
What layout do you think will be the best? 1/2/3/4?

3 sounds cool, but it's still a tight track that needs extending and allow for more overtakes
It’s super tight. But there is no room to extend it to make it any bigger really. I think Layout 3 will actually give a decent overtaking spot though

You think? I think it’s gonna be a decent sized brake even for layout “4”

I think everyone preferred the track after the resurface 😂
Pylon is a very ballsy corner, you need to be fully committed to be fast through it

When will this happen?
The pictures are from Yesterday, I suspect the track will be ready for February
2 & 4 would be horrible.
1 (the normal track) which I really like and 3 I think would be pretty good.
2 is the original layout. But I agree with 4, think it would be terrible to use.
