John Davis is rapping, but it's Charles Shaw who's singing the chorus. Brad Howell also sang on some of the songs including Blame It On the Rain.

How in ANY WAY was the music fake? So 2 extremely talented musicians made a phenomenal album, but chose to have 2 good looking talented dancers promote it? That's called marketing.

I know that this is old, but I can't help it. They could actually sing. This studio picked them up when they were singing. But the contract they signed gave the studio full rights, and the studio decided that they wanted other people to sing over them. They had already spent the front money, and they were completely broke, so they didn't really have another option.
The first time I heard this song and saw this music video was on a big screen at a local beach town nightclub in Southern California. I was starting to walk out to leave and I looked at the screen and stopped, Woh! Those guys are so cute!! I was hooked! It's funny though, I never bought their album or a cassette. I was a single girl and my money went to more important things I needed, from rent to groceries. Later when I found out that really wasn't their voices, it was a big shock. And then the news media was all over it and made their lives a living hell. It really wasn't their fault and they didn't come up with their dual singing name or music. They were talked into it and paid very well at that time. They're German but they do definitely sound American, and the original singers were American but weren't sellable enough. I guess the guy who invented and put together Milli Vanilli thought the original singers were cute enough.
I haven't seen the music video since the late 80s! But watching it again, and you know they're from Germany, born and raised, they do sound too American. Really good singing voices but it's unfortunate that these two were put in the middle of it all and they just couldn't make their own comeback, I blame the news media and gossip magazines and gossip reporters and the paparazzi for that. And then one died of an accidental overdose. It was ruled by the coroner an accident. But I bet he was suffering from depression and had been to rehab. The song is still pretty cool and these two will always look hot and gorgeous to me. ❤😊😉

I went to boarding school in 1989, I just turned 11. People had Milli Vanilli Smash Hits posters on their wall. They may have faked it but who cares now. I still love them as they were a part of my childhood. Don’t know if anyone still remember Smash Hits Magazine nowadays.
