- In this video I show how I created the fur on the body of a red fox portrait. I used a mix of Polychromos, Pablos, Lightfast & Luminance pencils along with different ceramic knives. (This was an informal adhoc video I created in response to questions from my patrons as to wanting to see how I was creating the fur.)

Fascinating, love watching and learning the fur texture.
Wow! Just wow. So beautiful! Watching you create the fur is awesome. Gives me hope!
I've watched this a few times for reference. Thank you for sharing it, it's so helpful!
That slice knife makes quite a difference 🙂
Wow. Wow and wow. Thank you for arranging this tutorial for everyone to see. I am very new to art in general. Recently I've been learning with pastels and pastel pencils. Now having watched your work I recognise that I have so much more to learn. Thank you again.
Holy wowzas! You’re like a magician! I didn’t see it looking this incredible based off the beginning stages. Pretty impressive skills!
Thanks for the great video ...i need one of these slicers NOW🤣
You have me mesmerised !!! Fantastic work , thank you for sharing your amazing talent ! We have two Deerhounds and this technique will be perfect to capture their likeness . I am certainly going to try this . Thank you 🙏
Fantastic - thank you for sharing your technique!
You are an extraordinary and talented artist! You draw with such confidence i am in awwe of you. Keep doing what you're doing and sharing. I love your work! I bought some grafix and going to try it. Thank you for the tips Lisa 😘 x
Thank you so much 😀
Ur drawing are amazing love it 🥰
The fur looks amazing Lisa. Thank you :-) Marion
Love, love, love it! Thank so much for taking the time to help us be better at our art endeavors!
Prachtig 🥰
Learned a lot. Thank you.
Very informative. Thanks for the video
So much information on technique packed into your tutorial. What brand of drafting film do you use?
Ok....I wasn't really convinced until you started scraping away with that knife blade! Amazing transformation! I didn't catch what paper you were working on, though, but I don't think it's Pastelmat.
Fantastic. Let us know how you do in the competition too. This is a winner!
Lisa, I never knew that you could do such a thing, I had never heard of drafting paper, cutters or any of these techniques!!!! I love it, it reminds me of those boards I had as a child, they were black, you used a blade to reveal a silver or gold colour underneath, but this is a thousand times better..... I have to get some drafting paper, a cutter!
Thing is I only have polychromos, and Pitt pencils, I take it that I will have to get Pablos and lightfast & luminance pencils to get the same effects as you have achieved?
Also do you have any full tutorials on doing this, if so which animals are they?
Sorry to interrupt your week off, you don't have to answer this today!
I am so pleased I joined your patron :) xxxx
Brilliant demonstration, thanks for sharing! By the way, I strongly suspect the ceramic blade is "catching" only on areas where you've already created a somewhat deep crevice with the blade, going in the opposite direction.
It is wonderful 👍🌹
But if we can see both the reference photo while you are working to allow us to observe?
Thnx
Thank you. This was an adhoc video whilst I was working. When I create my formal tutorial videos I always include the reference photo on screen too.
Oh WOW‼️‼️👏👏👏👏👌
Genuine! Thank you a lot for this video!
I recently bought on eBay a special edition box of faber - castell colour crayons which includes polychromes , albrecht durer , pastels and various bits and bobs . They have never been used by j have just discovered they are 20 years old . They are in perfect condition. Will they be ok to draw and colour with ??
Fabulous!
Wow, awesome, learned a lot. This is going to be awesome. Is there a ceramic knife you love using?
Yes, these are Slice products & I love the pencutter & the craft knife the best
Great work im curious never worked on fiilm before is is possible to blend at all with solvent
Wow I am amazed at this. I didn't see what kind of paper you are using either. How many layers of pencil did you put down before you can start the scraping? Thanks
Hi Mar, this was a demo on drafting film. Without going ack to watch the video myself I couldn't say how many layers went down in which area, sorry. But you should be able to see from watching the application process hopefully
wow I am going to try this. what kind of knife are you using?
This is a Slice tool. I favour the manual pencutter and the precision knife
Does this process work on pastelmat or only with drafting film? I was wondering if you could write a sort of list steps for a not English Native to understand better the various process, for example first Luminance with the shadows then polychromos then slice tool? ! Thank you so so much if you could!!!! 🥰
I was wondering what caused those vertical "texture lines" that you mentioned at the beginning of the video?
I wondered the same too! It could just be the formation of the surface during manufacturing, or the film could have been stored against something textured. I don't know for sure but it was of differing amounts across the sheet
👍👍👍😀
doesnt the paper break when you use the blade
Ummm... clearly not😏🙄.
Where did you get the brush to clear residue from please?
It's a brush used for gilding. A soft brush for use on gold leaf. You can also get an artists dusting brush
what is the name of the ceramic knife and does it work on sanded paper?
It is by Slice & yes, it works on all papers. I recommend you always test it first though on a spare piece of your support so that you get a good feel for the pressure needed
@@AnimalArtbyLAW Thank you very much Lisa and have a great 2020!
Wat kind of paper have u used please thanks 🙏
This is on drafting film
What type of paper was used for this demonstration?
