Thank you for the lovely demonstration, and for explaining the difference between dura-lar and drafting film. I was all set to order the wrong thing and you definitely saved me some headaches!
Thank you so much for the discussion on drafting film. I found the DuraLar at Hobby Lobby and was so tempted but resisted and ordered the double sided from Dick Blick. It just arrived and I haven’t tried it yet but am so happy to know my decision was right. The chicks are too cute!
Love Your Videos! I'm building my first Paper and Pencil Supply collection and the info on Graphic Double-sided drafting film vs Duralar taught me a lot. Thank You 🌻
Dear Milly, 💕 This video truly blessed my day and answered some questions I had but also gave me serious guidance. I prayed so hard because I now teach 150 students.. Yes😂! I said it.. Wow! The school just gave me more darling students but that means more work for me, and I'm an intense Art History -art teacher teaching Albrecht Durer and Fra Angelico for Christmas x😅 but when I saw your darling chickies, I thought I could have the kids just draw *One little chick for Thanksgiving time in 10 days-- My class meets. ?? Will that large sheet of draft paper- From BLICKS be able to be cut into 50 little 5×7 -- sheets... Enough for 2 classes full of students you think? I appreciate your help! Thx u dear!!! Soo subscribing and love your work🎉😊! Sincerely, C
Hi, can you please show me a pic of the grafix drafting film package if you can as i am in australia and for grafix i can only see dura`lar when i google. I wil be joining patreon soon.
Hi there! I only get it from Blick’s art supply here in the States. I couldn't find a seller I trusted on Amazon. Blick’s does have an Amazon storefront so maybe that will help. The company is Grafix. Here’s the link of what I use. www.dickblick.com/items/grafix-drafting-film-matte-24-x-36-x-005-2-sided--single-sheet/
Thank you so much! 🙏It's in the description I used Grafix Double Sided Drafting Film amzn.to/43xzdQo (Not Duralar) also I talk about the choices at the 4:36 mark :-) I recommend the slice tool it's designed for crafters: Slice Tool amzn.to/3AGtsCC Let me know how it goes for you!🌻
Thanks Molly and I cannot thank you enough for the reference for the drafting film. I have found a place in Ontario, where I live, that carries the grafix drafting film and I just ordered the crafters knife from amazon. Thanks again and excellent tutorials. @@MollysFineArt
Molly, amazing work!! I have so much trouble with my dura lar. Layering is not possible but in my opinion on paper layering light over dark, like white whiskers is very limited, too. 1 problem: after ERASING gently I can’t make a layer again, the tooth are GONE 😢 2 problem: deep colours like black look weak despite drawing on both sides 3 problem: smooth areas. Looks very streaky with coloured pencils. I managed to make a hyperrealistic peace, but it was sooo exhausting 😮 does it better work with Grafix?
@emilyerdbeere9210 Hi there thank you! I had the same experience with Duralar. That's why I switched to drafting film it’s totally different! In this video I’m using drafting film. The details are in the description. Let me know if you try it!
Great video, I’ve just started using polydraw with polycromos, and was wondering about blending, and this demo is very enlightening. Sorry if I missed it in your links, but whick said odourless mineral solution do you use please ❤
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it! I used Gamsol however, a good friend of mine that uses drafting film all the time recommends odorless terpenoid instead. He said OMS is too oily. I’m going to use terpenoid on my next project starting tomorrow! 👏 I’ll be posting updates!
you say or on any paper, but I didn't catch any information about what to do differently if we are die-hard paper-only artists . I simply do not want to use this artificial paper product nor do I want to use Pastelmat as I can not tolerate the surface. I have many quality papers in my repertoire.
Hi Elizabeth! Thanks for the question! I've achieved similar results using Bristol vellum or smooth paper with a lot of colored pencil layers. The more layers the better the eraser and Slice tool will work. 🌻

Thank you so much!🙏 The sheet cuts easily. Blicks has some large sizes you’ll have to see on their website. 👍 FYI It’s really different than paper!
Very nice. I just discovered your channel.
Awesome! Thank you!🤗
Is it possible to frame it behind glass or will it rub off?
Yes frame it behind glass. The film shouldn’t touch the glass. There are stoppers you can get for the frame if needed.

Is drafting film the same as Yupo paper?
No totally different.
Excellent tutorial on using drafting film. What brand do you use and second, what is a slicing tool and is there one you could recommend. Thanks.

I got really excited until I looked up drafting film and saw the prices 😅
Oh no! Blick’s has the best prices it comes in a big sheet for $5.50 that you can cut lots of 8x10’s or 5x7’s. 👍
