How was the rock/clay so softe to sink fingerprints into
It is sand stone, wish I understood it, it’s amazing!
It's not clay. It's sandstone. It's relatively soft in this area so with rubbing and friction the sandstone will crumble away in tiny particles. Hundreds and hundreds of tourists rubbing their hands in the same spots wear away and create the prints.
