One message is very clear- commit crimes, and this place is waiting for anyone. I became a father almost 4 years ago. I can truly say that I am a good father. I succeeded. Why? Because I understand the value of very simple things..e.g. sitting outside on a nice day, climbing a tree, privacy......and I understand the importance of things like being a good citizen, holding a job, helping an old lady carry a bag, living within my means... @@polerrodriguez8658 Yep the punishments are too severe in America. In Europe you rarely do even 20 years for the worst crimes and their societies are much less violent.
Yes and no. Some crimes like a murder with extreme cruelty or torture I don’t think you get a second chance. Because if you’re that kind of person with that mentality or capability to torture someone before you kill them or the same with children I honestly don’t think you deserve anything but prison or death. Sometimes though, as a father of two, I feel like if someone did something to harm or kill or abuse my children, I know what I would do to somebody and I Feel that’s truly the only circumstance where you should have a little bit of leeway in the sentence or parole possibility. But I do agree with you that a lot of non violent sentences are absurd in the length of time given. It doesn’t help in most cases, it’s detrimental to the suspects mentality and outlook on life.
Are u serious....so tell that to the family of a mudered son or daughter......ask them when they get they second chance...sorry i know the consequence if i commit a horrible crime...so im not going to do it...we worry about the criminals sayimg they deserve another chance but what about the victims.....😳....
@@mrblackalchemist nah people that kill and harm children don’t deserve no second chance at all it should depend on the crime, if gang member kills another gang member then maybe deserve a second chance but if you are out here harming innocent people who aren’t part of that criminal world you don’t deserve any sympathy
This is what's needed...I made a terrible choice and did 25 years in VA prison off a life sentence. Trying to educate the youth since I've been home and teaching on my own youtube channel at Lessons Learned by Khalid Karim 75.
What was the choice you made, sir? Which led to you being incarcerated ? You were sentenced to life ? Where did you do that time ? In which institutions ?
This video is the absolute truth, I went through Graterford in 1985-1990. As i was growing up people would try to tell me where i was headed but like all good hard headed kids I knew better then anybody else. Now I have a record and a lot of jobs are out of my reach. There is a stigma attached to being a convicted felon, people look at you as if you are less than they are. Hopefully this video will be shown in the main stream to the young people that really need to see the message that it carries and hopefully it will help to keep more kids out of places like Graterworld. MY thoughts and prayers are with the men and women that are incarcerated and the ones that are being released.

Brilliant! Poor buggers, a lot of them were only present when the crime was committed and so very young. I hope the courts look at releasing some of these men very soon!
I watch this documentary monthly! I keep it on my reel! What a great job getting the talking points across without all the yelling we’re used to seeing in other videos! I also like how they men tell us their charges and what led to them getting LIFE! That must be a hard wake-up daily. Thankyou for this video! It keeps me in check!
Prison Sounds like a steady 9-5 job to me with no responsibilities! They want to try working 3 shifts and studying to qualify (like Police Officers and other emergency staff)
I seen alot of prison documentary but this one is real like all prison movies is real, but this one makes me Humble to be free I seen 2 people I know in this doc. The one seen that got me was the sergeant doing the intake process to the brother real shittt!! Thanks to everyone in this doc🙏🏾✌🏿
Out of all the jail and prison videos I've binged on, this is the best, most honest, and real I've ever watched. This helped me want to be more careful with what I do to avoid this as much as I can. This is so sad..
Thank you sir. From a (former) inmate to a Sgt, that does alot for a man who's locked up. The way you treat a man inside prison can really determine how he does his time, or even if he gets more time. Being treated like shit for months and months, and in some cases years, can drive a man to do something he wouldn't normally do. Thank you Sgt.
Most of these boys would not be here if they had positive role models growing up. All boys need a strict but fair father figure in their life. Someone that will come down on them when they are out of line. It's sad to see one mistake can ruin your life. I blame the parents for letting them run wild. You don't let teenagers do what they want.
Until this video, I felt nothing for ANY inmate in any prison anywhere in the world! In this video, I see a lot of truth and sorrow and despair from these MEN who threw away their lives and are heartfelt sorry for the pain and suffering they brought upon their victims and families. I wish them all good luck and,if possible, peace of mind!!
I was in the Ford, left in Sept 03 and never been back. Alhumdullah This should be shown to all 8th graders and again at the end of 11th, beginning of the 12th.
I dont know how this video got into my rotation, but it kept my attention and I appreciated their honesty! This is Sad, but educational and since young kids are going to prison and being sentenced to death at 13, 14 and 15, these types of documentary may need to be shown in schools! This maybe a deterrent for some!😲🤔
The deterrent that kept me from seeing a prison was the 1983 film Bad Boys starring Sean Penn and a field trip to a juvenile detention facility. I was a kid so that left an indelible mark on my psyche. The fear of being preyed upon or shanked made the decision very easy to never engage in criminal behavior. I take my freedom very seriously.
Thank you for sharing .... the youth need to see this... there is no life in the Drug game.. the gangs.... why take your freedom so lightly ... thanks again to the guys who cared to Share for others to avoid their mistakes ...
in most countries the average criminal makes 200-400k a year if you calculate profit from crime per year in jail. Many more make hundreds of millions per year if they are smart and commit financial crimes. "hush puppy" stole 1.7bn USD and did 4 years in a US prison, that works out to nearly 250m a year profit, and has only paid 2m USD back. Crime absolutely pays well, only top atheletes and hedge fund managers get any where near the criminals earnings. Also it costs 100k + per year in rent to keep one in there. Free food, free security, no work, free drugs, easy sex etc.
Truth and Definitely 💯 you are still in prison when a loved one is in prison alongside 😢 with you and you feel guilty just the same 😮 and it's still sad and Definitely not 🚫 the same no matter what or how you feel

I was their too had a BD- Number in Feb.1990 the prison was designed for3000 but had crammed 5100 of us in there at the time. I had Armed Robbery & got 7/1/2 to 15 Yrs. I was on E-Block only for 7months then got classified to a new prison called Frackville, I was pissed because I didn't get anymore visits. My peeps wouldn't travel 3Hrs. Each way. But I did get job& my peeps sent me M.O 🤪
1am to 4am are the most torturous 3 hours of everyday. Your arms are jello from pushups and cannot do one more, the tier is quiet, the lights are dark, the hours are heavy. Now the thoughts start. The twisting and turning in the pit of your stomach, the uncontrollable thoughts of what you’re missing and how you ended up in this very cell, in this very block in this very prison. Realizing how short and precious the 75 or so years of life you’re given. Wasted in a box made of steel and concrete. Absolutely brutal. Worse than any physical pain someone else could cause you.
Only in America though, in the rest of the world it's just two different words for being behind bars but in the USA there is a difference between jail and prison

My uncle was killed by a juvenile who laughed and bragged about it...mhe can rott i there...juvenile or not u know right from wrong....i know we all did dumb things as kids but if ur a murderer...a rapist or like that u dont deserve a second chance my uncle wont get one so he shouldnt either..

Screw prison. I was in and out for years. Been out since 2010. I still know my inmate # and phone pin #. All I had to do was quit drugs and I quit getting locked up. 13 years sober and counting
Someone made a comment about being in prison and not being guilty how sad that would be. I was responding to their comment... thank God for DNA! Have you ever heard of black supremacist?
a lot of these guys should be given parole, because, after a number of years, they mature, see the full extent of what they had done, have clearly changed, and such should be re evaluated.

But you O' father, you search my heart and know what is within it. I ask for you to purify me and make me aware of what is within me. I thank you for cleansing my soul from impurities, so my thoughts can be good. Then my words won't be daggers to the one's I love. O Lord, I desire rivers of living water to come out of my mouth. I desire to speak words that uplift others. Thank you father because you're helping me to see the world beyond my emotions. You're helping me to think of others. To you O' God, I am forever grateful. I cannot believe PA DOC allowed this video to be made. Graterford had a crazy reputation among all PA State Prisons and the stories were true. I was involved in moving the inmates from Graterford to Phoenix. Most inmates and staff didn't want to move to the new prison. It was their home. It was a rough place that's for sure. Lots of drugs and violence. The blocks were HUGE. I always treated the inmates with respect. Anyone can end up in prison. Did you ever drink and drive? Get in an accident and someone gets killed. You're going to do time. Even if you're squeaky clean. That happened to a friend of mine. So don't be quick to judge.

Life.. pain... what does it all mean
You can tell most of the guards don't even have basic human respect for these guys. Sad.
I'm glad you said most. I didn't meet that criteria my name was Sgt hissinger ask any inmate about me at the Ford everyone treated like a man
Thank you sir.
You're so right
most of these boys would've never been here if their momas didn't make a baby
and now we have many "one parent" families. It's hard enough with TWO parents! Where will it all end?
Stephen Ellis hopefully all the problem children just kill each other with minimal collateral damage.
Reatha Mayette you mean the signal mothers are the ones to blame

Until this video, I felt nothing for ANY inmate in any prison anywhere in the world! In this video, I see a lot of truth and sorrow and despair from these MEN who threw away their lives and are heartfelt sorry for the pain and suffering they brought upon their victims and families. I wish them all good luck and,if possible, peace of mind!!
I feel they are just the people that got caught. Because so many have done wrong and are walking around
What it took you to watch this video to realise we all just human beings who make wrong choices?nimrod!

I dont know how this video got into my rotation, but it kept my attention and I appreciated their honesty! This is Sad, but educational and since young kids are going to prison and being sentenced to death at 13, 14 and 15, these types of documentary may need to be shown in schools! This maybe a deterrent for some!😲🤔
I agree
@@1whocs486 I 2nd that!!! Start at the elementary school. No joke.

Real talk
Even if you do the most menial of jobs outside of prison, it's 1000 times better than being in prison.
in most countries the average criminal makes 200-400k a year if you calculate profit from crime per year in jail.
