Forestry Mulching: Fighting Back the Wooded Takeover

  • In this video, Allison's Dad and I use the Bobcat T320 with the Forestry Mulcher to clean up a little bit on the far East side of the property where the woods have slowly been taking over. Going back through the years on Google Earth it is very interesting to see how the woods are slowly engulfing this area. The area is getting overrun with Bradford Pear, Sweet Gum, Autumn Olive, and vines are killing most of the small saplings that are trying to grow.
    Our plan is to get rid of the undergrowth and small trees in order to make room for the best trees to thrive.
    We're also leaving plenty of large areas completely undisturbed for the wildlife to thrive.
    Stay tuned for more Forestry Mulcher videos coming soon!

    Thanks for watching! Our plan for this far East area is to use the Forestry Mulcher to get rid of the small trees, brush, vines, and all the other junk in order to make room for the best trees to thrive. There are hundreds of Bradford Pear and Sweet Gum trees that are starting to take over, along with a lot of other invasives. While we are clearing some areas, we're also leaving plenty of large areas completely undisturbed for the wildlife to thrive. I plan on making some more Forestry Mulching videos soon so stay tuned!

    I so enjoy watching you as these 80 acres are being cleared and additions such as the little goats are added! I think my favorite "tool" is the mulcher which can take a big mess and turn it into a pristine ground cover!

    Do you plan to plant preferred tree species in this area? Like more oak or other hardwoods? Great video, keep up the great work.

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  9 месяцев назад +2

      No plans to plant right now, but we may transplant some later from other areas on the property. We are going to leave as many of the good ones as we can. We have a lot of good trees growing but they are getting choked out by invasives and vines and other small saplings.

    Just came across your channel. Amazing! I appreciate your willingness to leave habitat for wildlife. Your ponds would be a great place for Wood Duck boxes. Just a thought, there might be an opportunity to work with your state Department of Wildlife. A good friend worked to have part of his property declared a wildlife sanctuary. He also collaborated with a state university on projects. Might be an opportunity for grant money. Just some thoughts. Best wishes on the enterprise!!
