When I was deployed to Kuwait, there was a Sherman at Camp Beuhring, just sitting near the patch of sand we called our motorpool. honestly it's the coolest tank.

I also went to Saudi Arabia during Operation Friendship, something that was such a big disaster that you can find almost no info about it online except some Arabic news article. Our Battalions HQ company got to go to Iraq, our Charlie company (infantry) went to Oman, and our Alpha company (sister Armored company) went to UAE. It was very hot and I got to ride a camel.

Honestly, the 76 has gotten me from 4.7 all the way up to 10.0 It's a phenomenal medium tank that just blows everything around it out of the water. I have zero doubt that they'll eventually move it to 5.0, or even 5.3

Strv103s are broken at their respective BRs if their player isn't a dumb fuck who rushes, on city maps you: camp a corner then move on...on open or mixed maps you camp and dominate the battle with your laser rangefinder, low silhuette and armor that even APFSDS can't pen.
This is my 79th attempt at asking spookston to play the t32e1. All the shermans are one of the most consistent vehicles in the game in any br thats why I love them so much gotta be one of my favorite tanks in the game.
They're the most consistent vehicle in knowing that most people probably know the weak points and where to insta kill you. They're undoubtedly fun to play though. Except once you get to the higher br Sherman's. They're just incredibly out of place then

In terms of logistics, Sherman tank is perfect for fighting across the Pacific & the Atlantic. Ease of productions, maintenance & crew training is the key to fight a long war of attrition.
Plus 90% of the time they are revenge bombs. But to be totally honest if I saw someone slaughtering my team like spookston id bomb them too. When you're that good you become a priority target.

Chieftain recently had a video talking about it where he said the tests of such improvised armor usually showed that it not only overloaded the tank and made it less maneuverable and prone to breakages, but often actually increased the effectiveness of enemy fire. Track pieces would protect enemy shells from shattering and increase angle pen, similarly with sandbags and wood. Random soft crap on the tank was usually not thick enough to protect againsy heat, but would give the warhead long enough to form the copper enema even with imperfect fusing, etc
Reverse speed aside, it's just hard to go wrong with a US Sherman. The 105 Sherman at 2.7 was busted, the regular 75 Shermans feel so nice, the 76s are a nice step up in firepower, and both Jumbos are a joy to use when not uptiered. The power of stabs, .50 cals, and power traverse with only 1 exception in the US tree. And yes, I do love the idea of a 4.7 "Super Pershing" :3
At 3:12 i made the exact same shot with a tiger E and it non penned. On protection analysis it said the effective thickness of that spot is about 110mm and showed the pzgr round penning it consistently and killing the tank
I love the m4a1 76, I think I have the most kills in the US tree with it! I just didn’t really see the need to drain the hours into the other 76 Sherman’s when they were just marginal improvements. Also 4.7 is fun to bully stugs and panzer 4s
I highly suggest that you try out the M60A1, with the recent br changes the thing is a beast. Compared to other MTBs at its br the thing just seems to tank shots, and it’s gun although isn’t spectacular is more than enough to deal with 90% of threats frontally with its APDS. It just seems to farm nukes.

That'd be the M4a2 and M4a3. The m4a1 was nowhere near the heavy tank as those two. Though I've heard no German fans compare it to a heavy tank. Honestly I will say that the Sherman's were pretty mid of ww2. They weren't great tanks, but they weren't bad tanks. In fact they weren't entirely meant for direct tank on tank combat. They were meant to be infantry support. Although having the cannon did mean it could stand a chance against a tank if it ran into one.

There's something about the Shermans that make me feel satisfied playing them. I drive it, I aim it, I shoot with it, it feels really smooth. Whether it be in AB or RB. Like an ultimate form of balance.
One thing that i have noticed with the Shermans, or rather with American tanks in rank 3/4. Is how much quieter it is then vehicles of other Nations. I end up catching people so much more by suprise with the Shermans than any other tank.
Hey Spook, you should play the Semovente 75/46 M43. It's a deeply overshadowed italian tank destroyer which can deliver an heavy punch but it's deeply ignored the potential it has. I am not gonna surrender in proposing this. (Day 85)
The new ammo boxes give the Calliope a hypothetical maximum rocket count of almost 130. I've been loving the vehicle and think it'd be cool to see a rocket spam video with it.
I love this tank and the fact it doesn't really have a tech tree lineup at 4.7 is really sad. Either you have to uptier it to 5.0-5.3 or you have to uptier 3.7-4.0 tanks to its BR to have at least something to spawn in case you die.
Hey, I really think you should revisit the ELC Bis. I was not a fan of it when it got released, but I think it’s much more playable in the current META at 6.0. It’s basically a scorpion, but better imo
I don't know if you will see this Spookston, but you can tell if you have been spotted if you look in the bottom left corner of your screen. You will see a binocular Icon, that when it lights up means you have been scouted. It's right next to the Icons that also light up when you lose important crew members.

When it's realy just the CAS Pilot going for the first and most convenient target he sees about 90% of the time lmao. They're Air Vermin. If there is such a thing as "the best tank" then M4 Sherman was absolutely the best tank of WW2. Not particularly impressive in any one category, but so damn versitile, ergonomic, reliable, easy to maintain and widely available.
The Shermans up until the Jumbo 76 are fun to play and a very good learning experience, after going past the Shermans, it is suffering all the way to the SepV2 Abrams, with very low win rate and very difficult stock grind.
"What is up with American 4.7 teams." Sweet mother of God, you hit the nail superbly on the head on that one. I was playing this exact same tank at the exact same BR bracket last night for like 3-4 rounds in a row, and in all those rounds, we got fucking steamrolled. I'm not kidding, it was a complete and utter wipe. Granted I wasn't doing so good either, in fact I was pretty dogshit. But I was trying my absolute hardest to at least score a kill or two per life, but my team? You'd swear to God they all would funnel into the same exact, highly contested point, get slaughtered, respawn, and do it again. It was absolute agony, I just had to quit out of anger and get off for the night, it was so bad.
Spookston, I don’t know if this helped, but i think the M4AI 76 Turret might have saved more tank crewmen lives by not having a muzzle. i don’t know if this is true as well, but apperently Panzer crewmen were taught to target the Sherman’s with the 76mm because it was the Turret that can ACTUALLY Penetrate the front of the Panther,panzer 4 and Tiger, and si ce it doesn’t have a muzzle brake at the front, it could have helped a little to hide the 76mm. (unless they know the general shape of the Back of the turret and the barrel being longer for the 76mm, instead of the shorter barrel of the 75mm gun)
Sherman and it's derivatives are underrated. I have tried the German and Chinese tech trees and the Sherman is the best medium tank overall. It not about what benefits you won't have if you pick it, it's about what disadvantages you don't have to deal with if you drive the Sherman.
Warthunder logic be like “can’t pen 30 mm with a 76” that’s fine. They’ll figure it out. “can pen 1 mm with a 50 Cal.” that’s not historically accurate.
Spookston giving the snail and idea for a battle pass sherman. Also I play this tank more than any other and as of recent US 4.7 has lost every bit of brain activity. Was in a squad of three and we combined for 18-32 kills per round and often found ourselves the only ones left on our team. Our teams would generate at most 7 kills and be cleaned off the map.
The M4A1 (76) is honestly pretty darn good even in uptiers. I never rely on the armor of a Sherman unless I'm in a 75 Jumbo in a downtier, but the 76mm gun with a stabilizer is fantastic. Honestly I'm tempted to make a lineup of just Sherman 76 variants, could probably do fine with that. The armor scheme is similar on all Sherman variants except the Jumbo, so uptiers are't as big of an issue since the armor doesn't seem to work most of the time anyway. Would love to see the M103 or MBT-70/XM-803

I think it depends on the design. The Panther and Tiger 2 look naked without skdeskirts, for example.

My guess for why you are so often the target of bombs is that you are usually in a strategic position, making you the most important/obvious target.

The new ammo boxes give the Calliope a hypothetical maximum rocket count of almost 130. I've been loving the vehicle and think it'd be cool to see a rocket spam video with it.

I love this tank and the fact it doesn't really have a tech tree lineup at 4.7 is really sad. Either you have to uptier it to 5.0-5.3 or you have to uptier 3.7-4.0 tanks to its BR to have at least something to spawn in case you die.
You should try the Eland 90 it has a half decent cannon and is the literal definition of a rat tank, AKA right up your alley.

Hey, I really think you should revisit the ELC Bis. I was not a fan of it when it got released, but I think it’s much more playable in the current META at 6.0. It’s basically a scorpion, but better imo

I don't know if you will see this Spookston, but you can tell if you have been spotted if you look in the bottom left corner of your screen. You will see a binocular Icon, that when it lights up means you have been scouted. It's right next to the Icons that also light up when you lose important crew members.

T-34 is the least bucks for the bang WWII Medium tanks built to roll out of bombed out factories as fast as many as possible, readily available to fight the battle right outside, and repaired with whatever was still in the toolbox within the hour to transport troops to fight more nazis

(outside WT and other games) I doubt that the T34 was one of the best tanks ever made. Infact I believe that the M4 has much more to offer than the T34
T-34 design good, took them a while to get higher quality tanks on the field. Were, dirt cheap, easy to produce and Just solid
If there is such a thing as "the best tank" then M4 Sherman was absolutely the best tank of WW2.
Not particularly impressive in any one category, but so damn versitile, ergonomic, reliable, easy to maintain and widely available.

The Shermans up until the Jumbo 76 are fun to play and a very good learning experience, after going past the Shermans, it is suffering all the way to the SepV2 Abrams, with very low win rate and very difficult stock grind.

Sweet mother of God, you hit the nail superbly on the head on that one. I was playing this exact same tank at the exact same BR bracket last night for like 3-4 rounds in a row, and in all those rounds, we got fucking steamrolled. I'm not kidding, it was a complete and utter wipe. Granted I wasn't doing so good either, in fact I was pretty dogshit. But I was trying my absolute hardest to at least score a kill or two per life, but my team? You'd swear to God they all would funnel into the same exact, highly contested point, get slaughtered, respawn, and do it again. It was absolute agony, I just had to quit out of anger and get off for the night, it was so bad.
That double armor M4A1 would be an awesome premium.
Spookston, I don’t know if this helped, but i think the M4AI 76 Turret might have saved more tank crewmen lives by not having a muzzle. i don’t know if this is true as well, but apperently Panzer crewmen were taught to target the Sherman’s with the 76mm because it was the Turret that can ACTUALLY Penetrate the front of the Panther,panzer 4 and Tiger, and si ce it doesn’t have a muzzle brake at the front, it could have helped a little to hide the 76mm. (unless they know the general shape of the Back of the turret and the barrel being longer for the 76mm, instead of the shorter barrel of the 75mm gun)

Sherman and it's derivatives are underrated. I have tried the German and Chinese tech trees and the Sherman is the best medium tank overall. It not about what benefits you won't have if you pick it, it's about what disadvantages you don't have to deal with if you drive the Sherman.

Also I play this tank more than any other and as of recent US 4.7 has lost every bit of brain activity. Was in a squad of three and we combined for 18-32 kills per round and often found ourselves the only ones left on our team. Our teams would generate at most 7 kills and be cleaned off the map.
The M4A1 (76) is honestly pretty darn good even in uptiers. I never rely on the armor of a Sherman unless I'm in a 75 Jumbo in a downtier, but the 76mm gun with a stabilizer is fantastic. Honestly I'm tempted to make a lineup of just Sherman 76 variants, could probably do fine with that. The armor scheme is similar on all Sherman variants except the Jumbo, so uptiers are't as big of an issue since the armor doesn't seem to work most of the time anyway. Would love to see the M103 or MBT-70/XM-803
