      Dude I just realized you had a Vacant Space RUclips channel after writing you a big long comment about how you should really have a RUclips channel for your band. I was under the impression that you only had Spotify and Instagram because of the links you shared. Anyways I gave both your channels a subscribe. Hopefully you can continue doing what you are doing. But also, it’s sad to say, unless we change what most people view as good music, pop music and trap music especially is gonna stop us musicians from making a living and stop future musicians from even being born…

    The most important thing for a band to be successful is to write songs that appeal to a lot of people, i.e. to have a hit, combined with good marketing. If you're serious as a band, then focus on that. Go about your jobs to have money to live on and invest the rest of your time in your band to get the best out of yourselves. What the greatest bands/musicians have in common is that they write good songs and work day and night for their success. Vision and hard work make the difference between amateur and professional.

    I can identify. I was in a band in my late teens into early twenties. Played to 200-500 people regularly. Even that was nowhere near enough momentum to do music full time, let alone make it big. I had to come to a realization that it just wasn’t gonna happen for me. Here’s what I decided to do instead: write and record music on my own. Writing and recording is an outlet for me. It’s my therapy. So 15 years later, I have a wife, two amazing kids, a great career making great money, AND I have a 40+ song catalog of originals recorded that, if I’m being honest are just okay songs (even though I love them). Nevertheless, I still have that book of music to show “I accomplished that”. I write all the music, and play all the parts except drums (hire a drummer) and record at a local studio to get a premium sound. It’s a great way to let go of the dream while still exercising that creative side of me. I recommend you try it. Good luck to you. I’ve really enjoyed your sound a lot!!

    • @adamsaffron6721
      @adamsaffron6721 7 месяцев назад +1

      You recommend he try letting go of his dream? Wtf? I know you mean well, but if you and he are this talented, then the dream should be attainable. (I know that may not be the case given most likely to the undervaluation of music .)
      I think JunkieXL has better advice for the dreamer: find a job that supports you but where you can still think about music. Whether that’s a kind of physical labour or programming so you automate your job and create time for yourself, you can do it.

      @@adamsaffron6721 The reality is that, in order to “make it”, talent has to be immense and timing has to be just right. Right place at the right time discovered by the right person. The likelihood of that happening to ANYONE is next to nothing. Every year spent at a dead end job that simply finances the pursuit of something with a 0.0001% chance of coming true is a year wasted. I’m not saying give up on your dream. I’m saying “change the dream”. If I told my 23 year old self 20 years ago that, once you give up being a rock star, you can still write and record music, PLUS you can have a great career making the kind of money my parents would have dreamed of making while having a wife and two amazing kids….THAT is WAY more of a dream come true than playing dive bars on weekends while breaking your back laying bricks throughout the week.
      Wisdom is learning from those who came before you. I can tell you that this RUclipsr has great talent….and a platform I NEVER had a couple decades ago. If it was gonna happen, it probably would’ve happened. At the VERY least I would recommend this RUclips musician set a deadline for EXACTLY how long he’ll continue to pursue it and THEN change the dream.

    Hey dude, as a frontman and songwriter of a band I feel everything you’re saying. It’s hard to keep a band together, let alone gaining a following, also while dealing with some pretty heavy issues myself. It really comes with a lot of frustration but at the same time nothing has been as fulfilling in my life as making music. Your band is great btw I think you guys could easily “make it”

    I agree with the advice about putting more regular videos out. Also, as you may have already considered, try making contacts with as many creative and motivated people as possible, artists, animators, editors etc. because you never know what collab opportunities could come along. Online art and music hubs and irl meets could be worth a try. Also, your music is more than good enough to make you all a living off, so don't be too modest when putting yourself out there. Many a band has made it due to an almost irrational self-belief. Get stuck in lad.
