A nice game overall, but the programmers had taken more effort for the quality of this game. If some issues of the atmosphere and the gameplay would be better, this game rocks!
In the normal game is only the option sound or music only. Both options played is boring anyway. I decided to play sound only and "mix" the music to a later point into the movie.
    Hope you like it... -

2:11 The alien that's just chilling upside down on the ceiling. That moment traumatised me as a kid, watching my dad play. I ran from the room, and couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks. Strange.

Oh yeah, this game was it that traumatized me as a kid to forever have nightmares about Xenomorphs - and to be utterly fascinated by them as well.

Great game. Many fond memories of playing this at my mates house on his Mega Drive. I never owned a copy back in the day but do now and fire it up for a bit of run and gun action.
The Amiga port is a good one, although missing title screen music, the sound of the alien on the loading screen and missing some in game sfx - the scream of the alien when being shot is a notable omission.
Also note the Amiga doesn't have parallax scrolling which is present in the Mega Drive version. Nonetheless, the music sounds great and the sfx which are present are good too. Gameplay is identical from what I can see so a great port despite some differences.

I liked both Amiga/ Megadrive and Snes versions equally, both brought something to the table for me.

I used to think the game was impossible on Genesis. Once I memorized all the levels I could tear through it in one life in about 45 minutes.

considering how utterly depressing Alien 3 was as a movie this game is remarkably upbeat.
    the music is awesome tho.
it would be interesting to replace the movie's score with this game music & see how it fits - just out of curiosity 🐹

It's more ALIENS (Part 2) than 3, with lots of aliens (vs. one in A3), the weapons and the tracker all from A2.

I remember playing this for the Genesis. Such a tense atmosphere because you never knew when the 'Morphs were going to come out at you, you had to conserve your ammo, and you have to rescue the hostages, all before the radar goes dead. This Amiga version looks and sounds awesome! Makes me wish I'd had the good fortune of living in the UK and having one as a kid.

  • @rafaellima83
    @rafaellima83 Год назад

It looks like they didn't even bother to make a proper credits screen for the Amiga version, because I am willing to bet the music here wasn't made by Matt Furniss and there was no "sound driver" written by Shaun Hollingworth, who indeed *wrote* a sound driver for the Mega-Drive which was used by 9 out of 10 European developed Mega-Drive games, but it would make no sense for him to do such a thing for an Amiga game.
Most of the guys shown on the credits, if not all of them, worked on Amiga games previously (as it would be expected from an UK based development team), but they were the ones doing the Mega-Drive version and I really doubt the Amiga version was made by the exact same people.

Lotus Petal: He says right there in the description that the Amiga version won't play both music and SFX at the same time; he mixed them so the video would have both. It's cool that the UK got this game, but I certainly don't feel cheated that we got the Genesis version instead.

This game was really good, because most of movie based games were unplayable and boring. It was actually one of the first survival horror games on the Amiga. The music and sound were amazing for the time. Some people say that SNES version was better, but SNES was more like A1200 when it comes to graphics and this game was made to work on A500 that was released in 1987. The other thing is that cardridge had more capacity and faster loading time and Amiga version was optimised to avoid disk swapping. Controls weren't bad at all. The slow turning around was actually a pinch of realism back then. I loved the radar and the pulse riffle sound. The Ripley character was really well recreated for the game. The xenomorphs were really scary and dangerous. They were fast and they weren't respawning endlesly which was really good thing. The only feature I would like to see in this game is that some prisoners that were rescued could help in some way running with Ripley and shooting the Aliens too.

how did you manage to get a full mix of the soundtracks? I just want to play them parallel to the game so I can have both music and sound effect while playing. I only find them online as short versions ( e.g. the first stage is 1:24 long ) But in order to have them properly playing I need them to be at least as long as the levels without resetting all the time...

Have idea that he used either a mod player or something like delitracker and did made a loooong track then faded in/out on the video as extra audio track. I did something like that too in the past.

Sega Genesis/Mega-Drive cartridge media known as megabits was expensive in the early days the game developer had to cut costs by using 4 megabit cartridge instead of 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 megabits deadlines, incompetence, laziness, rushing it out might’ve applied
