The Megadrive version was scary as fuck. It gave me nightmares as a kid. I thank my big brother for that. He purchased that accursed game. 🤣💀

Megadrive Ver. was amazing. Played it as a teenager, lots of atmosphere, quite a creepy game and death scenes were awesome.
Only thing I did not like was the horizonal screen space was a little cramped, so sometimes when running full out aliens would hit you before you could react unless you knew they were coming. But one of my best sega megadrive memories back in the day. It was errire as hell, can still hear the noise of the alien butting the door!
If I had to have only 10 megadrive games, this makes it in there.
Alien 3 (Friend who always lent me games even though I seldom had anything for him! - thank you ian walters!)
Sonic 1 (I know 2 was probably a better game but the first blew my mind as a kid and great mems of Xmas day-I felt luckiest kid in the world)
Streets of Rage 1 or 2. (I still have the SOR2 cart as I had it for birthday *brother* and could never bring myself to sell it)
Splatterhouse 2 (Just loved the atmos and gore)
Castle of Illusion (one of early games, music, nice environments)
Golden Axe (one of first games I saw on MD, played it when kids at school brought it in)
    SF2:SC Edition (I was a SF2 junky without a snes!)
Strider (Weird ass game and a great arcade conversion)
Quakshot (cos mum bought it for birthday, I pulled a tantrum thinking it was a sucky kids game and I really loved it and it taught me not to be such an ungrateful, know it all shit)
    PROBABLY SOMETHING I FORGOT EXISTED

I loved both Mega-drive and Snes versions equally, both had their own unique vibe. I do however have to give the crown to the MASTER SYSTEM version, its an amaizing effort!

Oh yeah, Matt Furniss went to town with making the soundtrack pop from the SMS's soundchip for that one.

The SNES had its own interesting look compared to the other 16-bit versions. It looks like the Amiga version got a bit less love than the console ones, there's no parallax at all and it looks a little flat and lacking in detail compared to the Megadrive version. I nevertheless remember playing the Amiga demo at the time and being reasonably impressed.

But SNES version was boring almost non-playable, compared to Genesis

My friend had the amiga one, I had the mega drive one, at the time it seemed a good effort.
However the megadrive had the brilliant matt furniss doing the music, which really added to it.
Always liked the snes version for looking a bit more next gen, but I always felt the megadrive version was the best version.
      They were happy times!

Yeah I do think the Amiga version could have been better with more parallax and serious, where is the music during the game? The C64 version had music and sound fx, no reason for the Amiga version to not as well.
I wouldn't say it was a bad port but could have been much better, but to be honest, I didn't really like the game on any platform.

Also the only version which was hiding the map during the tunnels, where you would only be able to see the line of sight! ( but I'm biased as was my idea!)

The SNES version looks and sounds absolutely brilliant but it gets a little tired quickly you spend all your time creaping about bent over to shoot the face huggers. Gets boring quickly but it doesn't have a time limit, Oh I hate a time limit.

I'm probably biased, but I loved the Amiga version. I did later get a MegaDrive and felt they were similar. I played the SNES version recently and it didn't really invoke joy. Went back to the Amiga version I guess as that's where I came from.

I will always regret for skipping SNES version for almost 20 years. When I finally tried it, I just couldn't stop playing it. I understand why people can find it tedious to play, but for me it was structured perfectly. Such a great game. Mega Drive and NES versions are good, but they was designed around time limit, which makes them horrible in my eyes and I wasted my childhood playing them both...

Besides is a nice alternative to Super Metroid, as well as a cool predecesor to the Nintendo DS game Aliens Infestation(which I'm still trying to find since I thought it was wicked cool when the trailer for that game first appeared on RUclips years back)

Some of these versions I never knew about as I grew up on the Genesis version. I'm really surprised at the lack of detail that went into the Amiga version down to even lacking the parallax scrolling. Maybe they were rushing or were on a deadline to get the game out. But, I'm very impressed with the C64 version the most. They managed to pack that much animation, HUD detail including radar, incredible music, multiple aliens on screen, and gracefully performed with zero slowdown from what I saw. Not even the Game Gear or Master System versions which are on more powerful hardware could run without slowdown. Thanks for showcasing these as it makes me want to find and download the C64 version. Maybe it's abandoned ware by now lol. 😇

The levels were compressed to fix into memory and also fit the entire game onto a single floppy. And the only version which hid the tunnels which should of been done on all versions, but people opted not to do that, I felt in a tunnel you get the Alien vibe of not knowing where you are or going. There was no requested NTSC version either it could of easily been made would of been even smoother at 60Hz.

For the pure gameplay I prefer absolutely the Mega-Drive-version, it had perfect sound and music and it's so satisfying to blow the aliens away.
The SNES-version is in my eyes a total desaster, but I give a point for the great graphics in the intro and I think in the outro. But else, the game to play is garbage.
