- We're living with the 2020 Ducati Streetfighter V4S for a week, so the first job was a trip to JHS Racing for a dyno sesh. Don't read too much into peak power numbers as it was like a cauldron in the dyno room, but the Tuono 1100 comparison is quite telling...

We need to see more of James. This man makes anything hilarious.
hes just so much fun on camera isn't he
He’s so wise and witty too :)
sexy too
Looking forward to the full 44T treatment... if you can get a SDR and contrast street/track between them that would be... very informative.
Add zh2 to the mix aswell
That 14.500 rpm roar is beast
Hurry up with the ride review!
Can't wait
44Teeth RULE!
and still waiting for my one, even though I put a deposit down last November!
We're shooting all this week 👍🏽
Miss you boys, hope you are keeping safe and fingers crossed we can. all properly get back out on the roads/trails ASAP ❤️
Had a quick half hour shot of our demo at Ducati Glasgow on the day of lockdown and I must say its a bit of an animal, same as the V4 Panigale a bit of a game changer for me!
This is cool. I own a '19 Tuono but I think both bikes are amazing. It is interesting though that the Tuono produces more HP and torque up to 9500 rpm. My Tuono is going the speed limit (70mph) at 8500 rpm in first gear. It looks to me like the Streetfighter engine starts to pull away from the Tuono only once you're well into 'go to jail' speeds. It's a great time to be into fast bikes.
First gear at 70mph with that power. Porn!!!,
Truth is that the power difference from 5.000rpm to 9500rpm is very small (only a couple of hp) and it won't be noticeable while ridding. Realistically both bikes should feel almost the same up to 10000rpm but after that the difference between them is chaotic...
Which is better
My '18 RSV4 revs out to 14,500 rpm and even it is tough to hang onto up there! Would love to get her to a dyno!
I can do an almost direct comparison. I have a 2019 Tuono Factory and my brother has a 2018 Panigale V4S, The Panigale doesn't pull away from the Tuono in any meaningful way until over 150 and then goes on to past the speedo stopping at 185, the Tuono tops out at 170. On the street the Tuono is way better, it feels much lighter and makes the Panigale seem like it doesn't want to turn in. The Tuono can be flicked about like a 500. The electronics are way better on the Ducati apart from the QS/Blipper which is sluggish and surgy on the Ducati. Aprilia fitted all the same electronics but didn't tune them to the bike so the anti wheelie just cuts the power dead on the Tuono but will hover the front wheel on the Ducati. Same thing with the TC. ABS on the Tuono will disengage the brakes completely when set to 3 and someone decides not to go at a roundabout. To make the Tuono safe TC on 1, Anti Wheelie turned off, ABS set to 1. why has it got 8 level TC and a bar switch?
The fact that the Panigale has loads of top end isn't a hindrance on the road because it has enough mid range as well.
This engine is bananas in the new Panigale, but I still feel they should have put the old 1299 V-twin into this new Streetfighter and tuned it for maximum low to midrange torque, and not be so worried about the HP. This Streetfighter will be best on track rather than street, but that’s not what people buy nakeds for.
ok so I'm a little keen to check this out..... cranked it up, sounds so good!
Congrats on 200K
Good to see James looking so well.
I just knew he was gonna say fz 50 😂
We need an hour long episode on the fz's. With roadtrip, challenges and tuning.
Thanks for the new dino graph inset. Nice touch there boys.
One of the other UK channels has a video of Tuono on JHS Dyno making 162HP, which brings those bikes even closer together :)
That thing is beast!
Am lovin James' safety boots. PMSL
Well,we learned a lot..thank U again,James and All...
Brighten up my day :)
200 K SUBS,well done gents
Michael Neeves speaks about all the calming measures Ducati took with this bike in a recent video on his RUclips channel.. as it was far to powerful to be just a naked Panigale V4. Perhaps that insanely high rev range is one of the tweaks they made 👍🏼
I have the 2013 1098 version and it was delightful.. wish I never sold .
I will await for the right priced v4 in the future for sure
Had a 1290 SDR which I loved, just got a 2017 S1000r with all the goodies which is great. While I like the V4, when the numbers came out I literally thought "well that's literally too fast" and it seems like it kinda is. 180hp with all top end....get the fairing, being a naked is almost a negative for this bike.
Yes, another proof the old 1098S Streetfighter still is the king. @44teeth would love to see you ride the old one and hear your opinion. Old skool analog brutalism instead of smoothness, but so much more fun to ride.
To me this is the real review of this bike lol... well done!!!
Gwarn 44 Teeth ! KMT waiting for the review 😂
Would love you to bring the zh2 and 1290 superduke r along to test 👍but brilliant upload very informative
Good to see you boys still doing stuff, where can I get a jhs t shirt from 👌
Dream bike, soon hopefully
Good vid again lads, looking forward to Supernaked shootout
Can we get a road test with this and the 2020 SDR? I think like you’re both saying, road-going riding on this will be interesting 😂
Lovely!
Make sure to compare it with a Tuono 2019/2020, track and dragrace, side by side on higher gears and so on.
Oh, and make sure to break the manner on the Ducati so you can give it a proper wheelie or two.
Great video! Would love to know the process he's going through as well with the screen and other devices he has to press as he tests the bike.
There's a 'how a dyno works' coming very soon 👍🏽
@@FortyFourTeeth Awesome!
Tune, exhaust and air filter time!
I dont wanna be Ducati technician. No, you need to be Ducati magician :D :D
Ahhh Ducati. Making bikes that arre notoriously horrible to work on since ages ago.
This bike is awesome.
Would love to see how it compares to the older two streetfighter 1098 & 848
Seems like a 1290 superduke is the best supernaked for the street, 140nm of torque and all the power is available at low rpms
I'm a Ducati guy... but yea the SDR is clearly the "common sense" street option, (if any of these crazy machines could be associated with common sense)... just don't get caught on your SDR at the track with your buddy on one of these.
I quite actually enjoy a bit of top end, I just sold my 1299 because i have wrist issues from working in IT and I like riding 200-300 mile days, i'm looking at buying one of the three (Tuono, SDR, SF V4), and I actually like to have the top end and not just get raped by a 600cc bike going past me screaming at 14.500 RPM ( i know im exaggerating a bit), dunno its nice to have it.
Gualter Guizado i don’t think any of those 3 will get raped by 600 on track. Top speed of all 3 are above 160 mph. I rode on the straight vs r6 before with the tuono and smoke it.
@@Guizas I agree... the problem on the street is that the SF does close to 90 in first gear... that means to be in the meaty part of the powerband I'm going to be in "extra-legal speed" territory anywhere in my state... IN FIRST GEAR. On the one hand... that's pretty impressive, but on the other hand... tickets will be very hard to avoid. I was thinking some aggressive re-gearing would need to happen to make the bike a bit more fun (it hates to wheelie with it's crazy tall gearing) AND a bit more street centric (I'm not a track guy).
Alternatively... I'm still shopping around to see if I can find a nicely farkled low mile 1098SFS, which IMO is prettier than the V4 and may be faster on the street at normal speeds (meatier torque band).
There is another Dyno with a guy doing the street fighter and the superduke together. The superduke only puts out 10 less rear-wheel Peak horsepower and spanks it like crazy on the torque. Also at 8000 RPM it puts out 45 more horsepower. I think as usual the Ducati overstated the horsepower. Another video weighed the sf and with full gas it was 457 lb only 6 pounds lighter than the superduke and in Canada a fully loaded superduke is $6,000 less money.
I own a sdr and this sounds really nice down low
I agree with James. Seems like a lot of rpm for what it does. It especially seems revvy when you think thats an 1100cc big bang engine.
Lets see the review with this, the 1290r, the ZH2 and all their chums. Or just those three because you only need Mossy along to help ride...
James always brings a laugh when he is on.
Back in 1985 everyone was buying GSX-R 750 I went with the winner FZ750. Yesterday on a conservative Dyno 172 Up 104 ft/lbs on the 2020 1290 Super Duke R at 7800 rpm.
It would be interesting to know what 'mode' the Aprilia was dyno'd in, I have it from a very well respected Italian tuner that the Tuono delivers a greater mid range hp in 'Sport' mode and this might make that mid range difference even more noticeable :)
Nice 1 guys
Great looking motorcycle but it is a track bike without fairings. I got the new SDR in part because of Statham's glowing, giggly review, and in part because of the way it makes its power. It will not post the biggest numbers on the dyno or the fastest lap times but as a street bike it is great (and obnoxious and dumb, sure, but still great). YMMV
This is why the 1299 is the best street bike out still.. do an overlay with a tuned 1299... the torque dif is insane
Crazy that Ktm does more
Trolling hell on here 😂 looks ace sounds ace will probably ride ace, technically amazing - each to their own
It sound nice😎
I’ve seen on other dyno pulls with direct comparison to one another that the Super Duke had way more power and Tourqe to 10,000 rpm and is only down about 10 hp but on contrast is way up about almost 30ft.lbs. It seems like the ideal naked would be a Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory with a Tuono bar, and a better exhaust note than both. It’s time for Aprilia to upgrade theTuono. It’s down almost 30hp to the RSV4 with little difference in Tourqe.
OOps! Forgot to add great channel and reviews, thanks :)
178bhp. 2020 sdr is producing 172 and 104ft-lb whilst the SF is weirdly giving a limp 77ft-lb. Cant wait for a back to back road test between these 2. What's that extra £5k gona get u between the 2.
From what I have seen the new 2020 Superduke makes more than 3hp over the previous model
All of the other dyno numbers we're seeing online are 20-25HP up on this, so wondering if JHS have a more honest dyno? I know some of the other bikes have had mods though.
I don't know, i think I prefer this to be honest, people say the SDR is the best for the street yes that's right because of the immense torque at 8k, but to be honest this has more than enough torque for the street, and then it gives you the top end of a race bike, and please don't tell me people don't use this I use it plenty of time, i mean you see plenty of race bikes on the street, unless you ride 100% inside the City then i agree, here in the UK you have amazing B roads and twisties to explore the torque, and then you find plenty of dual lane A roads where you can explore the RPMs.
She pushing 190-192 at the wheel with full Race Exhaust/Up-Map, i feel i never get past 10-11k -rpm either, why a V-2 StreetFighter maybe more enjoyable to ride!! This bike is scary powerful with full Race Exhaust/Up-Map from Akropavic, thank goodness for the Electronics to keep everything upright!!! I blacked out the silver radiator guards and added a black radiator guards from Evo-Tech, completely transformed the look of the bike- Super Aggressive looking!! Vinyl car wrap works wonders!!!
I was going to get mine powder coated but car wrap sounds like a great idea. What wrap / color did you go with? I was thinking satin black might be best.
Another great presentation. Can't wait till you guys get your gloves on a Z H2 up there!!
Bricks performance dyno’d a zh2 184.58 bhp 94.59ftlb torque
Meant brocks performance
208 claimed BHP and only 178.5 RWHP? That's a lot of loss by the time power gets to the road
12-15% crank to wheel loss is the norm. Media have switched to annoyingly constantly quoting crank figures as wheel figures dropped to less than previous models thanks to emissions standards.
@@mikefairfield7551 True, but the claimed BHP for the 2020 SDR is 180, and it's putting out 172 RWHP
Do you guys have to ride around with that billboard for a tag ?
Sometimes I wonder what would happen if that strap at the footrest ripped off at full power 😬
Ever see planes taking off from an aircraft carrier? 😂
Love my 17 Tuono. Look at that chart. HP and Torque lines are smooth as you could want and better than the Duc all the way to 10grand.
A classic, glass half full way of looking at things..
I do have to wonder, if the situation was reversed, if you wouldn't be saying "look at the power of the Tuono, pisses all over the Duc that packs up at goes home with it's tail between it's legs at 10 grand!"
True. People love to swear by what they own..
@@vanduc996 nah guy said it himself its not needed on the road. U want ur grunt early on and more power in the mid range. Cant hang in them rev ranges on the road where that SF is excelling over the tuono. Track totally different story but depends what type of rider u are. I prefer vtwins. My s1000r was better suited for a track over public roads
Yes, yes, I'm fully aware of what's preferable power wise for what conditions..
I was just pointing out how people love to gloat when their bike makes the most power on a dyno.
Ducati never used to back in the day, the in line fours would smack them silly for out right horse power and all us Ducati fanboys could do was whine about "useable road going torque..."
Now we get to win to the dyno chart brag off !
Seriously, James is the man, right...
What a quite beautiful (for a streetfighter) and totally pointless bike (in real life anyway). Always enjoying James. Thank you for the upload.
hi guys, could you tell me who loaned you the bike and how many miles did it have on the clock when you did the dyno session ?
Back in the day, that rise in the graph at 9000 would float the front up nice on the throttle in 2nd. Looks like Any rev or gear these days. Lol
The new Evo2 torque mapping has neutered the V4 models. A 200hp bike that won’t power wheelie?! Ducati needs to add a Race Pro mode similar to the Akra upmap that restores the last gen torque curve. Make it a dealer option.
I thought you where a ducati fanboy ??????
TSAR BOMBA sometimes you need a little sweet n sour sauce even if you love a good McNugget.
Wahooo!
Might have to go knock one out to this in works bogs
noob question, ducati says its 208 hp why its 178 in dyno?
How hot and or humid was it during this test? just out of curiosity.
Read description.
thank goodness for essential workers
I’ll keep my 2019 BMW-S1000R, now that is useable Power for the Street 👍‼️‼️
If I could afford it... Motus made a bike with usable power for the streets... Not even the ZH2/superduke can dethrone it.
I might pick one up to as a keepsake and store it
It’s making very strong and flat torque though, which is what you want on the street. On the street torque is king.
Isnt that way south of what Ducati claims? By about 30Bhp?
when are u announcing the bbb bike winners ?
The Tuono comparison needs to include the gearing the bikes use...
It's a toss-up. My Diavel has GOBS of power down low and nowhere near the RPM of the V4, but in stock form it was also rough and jerky at low RPM. IMO, better to have massive power in the mid to top end and keep low end soft for around town puttering or lazy canyon/twisty riding than have a heavy flywheel that makes the revs sluggish. Putting a lightweight flywheel on my 1098 transformed its power delivery, but the damned electronically-assisted starter was a weak link and broke the starter sprag. If I were still in SoCal I'd be itching all over to trade in for the V4S.
Please dyno a ZH2 too 🏍💨
I feel like a Monster 1200 makes more sense. Looks better with a belly pan too
PLEASE, Dyno the V4 S with Akrapovic full race exhaust system WITH map . I waited till 13,000 miles last October on my 2017 1299 S Panigale with Akra Titanium full race system, . 8 passes, 196 - 197 rear wheel horse every pull on 91 octane non ethanol fuel. I have a 2020 Street Fighter V4 S on order. Hope I'm not disappointed ...
we just did one unrestrected
The 1103cc engine has one of the most ridiculously over-bored bore-to-stroke ratio on the planet. It's not a mystery why the torque is mehhh.
81mm bore x 53.5mm stroke. That's not a stroke, that's a vibration.
i ride the Streetfighter all of my Bikes has at least 180 BHP i didnt feel in any case that the streetfighter has less power in the Low rpm,i higher rpm becommes savage for Street in high rpm by far to fast.
Dang 4euro RSV4 on JSH dyno Made 180. That's impressive for a Naked bike.
s1000rr 2020 207hp claimed 196hp@wheels
streetfighter V4s 208hp claimed 178hp@wheels
good job ducati
it makes 205hp opened up
Good
James you should have the 44 team follow you around vlogging for a day or better yet get your own youtube channel 🤣👌.
Not a Ducati guy, but man what a sound...
Ducati sure know how to overprice !
I mean yeah but considering it's basically a panigale without fairings, 7k€ less is a damn good deal
Not really overpriced here
Surprised at the low torque... I've had 3 SD-R's on the trot now and must be just spoiled by the stuff. No puff after 10k revs though. Who cares for the road!
@@AndrasMihalyi - Quite agree. Now I'm older and wiser, I know which I'd rather have (for the road).
Entertaining vid & a very nice bike but it seems pointless to make it nearly as peaky as the Panigale. They should've made it a low & mid-range torque monster & probably geared it lower too possibly..
2:47 What is autoblip? Did I understand it right?
Blips the engine to go down the gears. No clutch needed basically.
Hmm the 2020 superduke could be the one to trump both in the grunt stakes
What? a hardly 160bhp twin?
@@ampm9771 The dyno shows 172 HP and 104 ft lbs of torque at the wheel.
B W knowledge is power, some people should read before typing !!
@@bobaslavefett111 Yeah, dyno 😂
@@markshirley7639 and blind fanboyism is worst than lack of knowledge.
When u gonna get ZH2 on this dyno.......
Aren't these meant to be 210hp and 90 toque stock ????
At the crank, yes. Once the power gets to the wheel that's going to drop a lot. It will probably make a bit more than 180bhp though.
The atmosphere of the dyno room, the tyre, the tyre pressure and even the newness of the engine could have an effect on the horsepower figures.
Boom! Volume to very very very loud...
150-mph happens extremely fast on this bike with the full Akro race exhaust. !!! My StreetFighter is BONKERS FAST !! Sprint Air Filter Also !!!!
Super doggy nom noms. 👍👍🇬🇧
So only 4 lb-ft of torque more than the KTM 890 Duke R then .... thats not very impressive from the big Ducati ..
But it’s way more HP and this V4 is tuned for good strong torque with a mental amount of HP. When they tune engines, they decide how to balance torque and HP for the given application. There’s nothing to not be impressed by, you can’t have both 208hp AND some crazy high torque figure in an 1100cc engine. Some engines have more torque and less HP, some more HP and less torque. It’s all balanced by how they want it to perform. 77 lb-ft of toque at the rear tire is huge. The KTM 890 might have the same peak torque, but it’s got like 80 horsepower less! So this V4 is extremely impressive.
@@ilmostro16 You can have both, with a 1290 Super Duke. 172 RWHP and 104 lbs torque
I agree, @MotoGoat. 208 claimed BHP, and only 178.5 RWHP? That's a lot of loss, and the torque is about the same as a 2006 GSXR1000. I'd take your 890 for the street too, and then buy another bike with the leftover cash
@@ilmostro16 Not really. Check out the new CBR1000RR-R dyno ruclips.net/video/2Ew_wcqJUgw/видео.html
👌
Brocks performance dyno’d zh2 184.58 BHP 94.59ftlb torque
the ZH2 is a sweet bike... too heavy for this crowd but I'd love one for sport touring.
David Kuhn H2SX for me... I’ll never use a naked for sport touring... I barely like riding them around town
Is it worth SEVEN THOUSAND pounds more than a 2019 Tuono? (can be had for 13k new)
Thats the big question...
by the sound of it mate.... no
Tuono sounds better.
Imo it's not. Spend the money to trick out the tuono a little bit more.
Tuono not really a naked and pretty ugly IMO
You mean 14k new, show me a 13k one. If its worth it, for the person buying it maybe, the Aprilia is great bike but like Neeves said is an old platform now, it feels dated, its in need of a refresh. Im payinga lot of attention to these reviews I just sold my 1299 and im either buying this a Tuono or a SDR, and im very inclined to buy this, so yes for me its worth the £4k, as im not really interested in electronic suspension.
