The cast of sub zero and scorpion (even though scorpion was barely in the movie) were perfect. Especially sub zero. The actor did such a great job playing him. Even though sub zero had a mask throughout most of the film, we are able to see the emotions and deadliness through his eyes.
I liked it all the characters were decent. Kabal was awesome subzero and scorpion were awesome. If they do a sequel I hope they throw some revenants in so we get some more. Noob 😬

The director specifically said that if the movie did well and a second film was green lite by the studio, he would love to have Johnny (a big time fan favorite) in the Film as a main character or the main character. He also said he wanted a well known name to play the role, basically he wants to be firing on all cylinders. So far it look like it will happen but who knows what the director has planned for they story and script.

Yeah it was good, the battle between Hanzo and Bi Han/Quan Chi was awesome, season 2 in some parts was ok in others regular but overall it was nice and well done, also the actor Hiroyuki Tagawa from the first movie reprise his role as Shang Tsung.

I actually liked Mileena. While not identical, I really enjoyed her rendition. Her mouth had a "normal" resting state but transforms to a more brutal version when needed. The smeared blood was a nice added touch too.
The only part that bugged me, was them waisting a fight on a non MK character, but they gave the dude an animal growl, which was dope, so I forgave them.

Well the movie did not live up to expectations. They literally put all the best scenes in the trailer. But it still has potential for a good sequel, and better costumes I hope, especially for Shang Tsung. Dude looks like he dressed up in grandma's drapes and make up for a costume party.
Shang Tsung actor also lacks the screen charisma imo. Like when the scene with subzero in another realm, Shang tsung is the leader but lose with subzero in term of screen presence

Imagine if the new Mortal Kombat movie has a Post Credits scene where they show Chris Pine as Johnny Cage and Keanu Reeves as Kenshi. That is definitely a great teasing to a better sequel than Annihilation.
Looking back that Goro animatronik suit was not good. But for its time that was an amazing piece of technology just saying. People need to stop judging things 30 years ago with the standards of today. And that last statent goes for everything in our lives.

I still want to see it, but yeah it looks like there’s a lot of misses. That’s to be expected and doesn’t mean the film will be terrible. I do like the casting of Joe Taslim as I’m a fan of The Night Comes For Us and The Raid. Also Ichi the Killer and Last Life in the Universe are two of my favorite films so I’m glad to see Tadanobu Asano cast as Raiden. I’m a bit skeptical about the addition of a new (and seemingly unnecessary character) the way he was pitched in the interview I read was “as Paul learns about the tournament the audience is brought along with him to learn about the world of Mortal Kombat”. Meaning they basically added him as guide for the audience, but I feel like if they kept with the original story that would be unnecessary, but that’s judging it without seeing it. Other things that are a bit iffy are hearing Kano is more of an antihero, there’s no Johnny Cage (which is odd because the series may not have existed without him) and the CG looks terrible (but that’s watching it on a tablet screen or a computers screen so it may look better at the theater). I know that Sub-Zero doesn’t take Jax’ arms in any version of MK, but it’s different how he lost his arms in the comics, in the games etc. So there are concerns, but I still really want to see it and I shouldn’t judge it before I watch it. It could be good, but I think a lot of people are wary as video game film adaptations are rarely good. With a stack of comics, eleven games considered canon and other film and series iterations there’s a lot to work with.
Mileena will surely have the Tortakan mouth, we just dont see it yet. But she still doesn't look like the character at all. Imagine the uproar if Jax was white or Mexican.

New Mortal Kombat story disappointed me🙄only fights and fatalities were worth it but damn they just messed up. Alot thing happened in a single movie gave very less time to character development, everything happened so fast it looked like we watch a youtube explanation of that movie. There should have been a trilogy of movies or a webseries instead of that movie.

If you are a MK fan this will be an incredible movie I wont give spoilers but Cole Young addition to the movie was a great choice to get new and old fans united and excited and having a storyline. This director needs to stay the director for all upcoming MK movies. Johnny Cage is not dead and the movie indicates him for the sequel so I cannot wait for the sequel. I can just see this movie doing incredibly well at the box office and that this October will feature a massive MK revival for Halloween costumes. Kung lao Fatality is daaaaamn !

Cole doesn’t detract from the importance of the other characters - he puts the rest of them on an equal footing and acts as the guide into the MK universe for the audience. Particularly the uninitiated.

While the CGI Reptile in MK (1995) wasn't great, the Liu Kang vs Ninja Reptile fight is definitely one of the top 3 fights of the movie. Hope they do something similar and create a ninja Reptile.

One change they *need* to make in the movie is having Scorpion's famous/infamous line, "Get Over Here!" done by Ed Boon. The movie is honestly pretty well done for it's budget. It feels much more like a 100+ million dollar film
Aesthetic wise and certain characters, agreed. Everything else was pretty garbage.
I still want to see it, but yeah it looks like there’s a lot of misses. That’s to be expected and doesn’t mean the film will be terrible. I do like the casting of Joe Taslim as I’m a fan of The Night Comes For Us and The Raid. Also Ichi the Killer and Last Life in the Universe are two of my favorite films so I’m glad to see Tadanobu Asano cast as Raiden. I’m a bit skeptical about the addition of a new (and seemingly unnecessary character) the way he was pitched in the interview I read was “as Paul learns about the tournament the audience is brought along with him to learn about the world of Mortal Kombat”. Meaning they basically added him as guide for the audience, but I feel like if they kept with the original story that would be unnecessary, but that’s judging it without seeing it. Other things that are a bit iffy are hearing Kano is more of an antihero, there’s no Johnny Cage (which is odd because the series may not have existed without him) and the CG looks terrible (but that’s watching it on a tablet screen or a computers screen so it may look better at the theater). I know that Sub-Zero doesn’t take Jax’ arms in any version of MK, but it’s different how he lost his arms in the comics, in the games etc. So there are concerns, but I still really want to see it and I shouldn’t judge it before I watch it. It could be good, but I think a lot of people are wary as video game film adaptations are rarely good. With a stack of comics, eleven games considered canon and other film and series iterations there’s a lot to work with.
Mileena will surely have the Tortakan mouth, we just dont see it yet. But she still doesn't look like the character at all. Imagine the uproar if Jax was white or Mexican.

New Mortal Kombat story disappointed me🙄only fights and fatalities were worth it but damn they just messed up. Alot thing happened in a single movie gave very less time to character development, everything happened so fast it looked like we watch a youtube explanation of that movie. There should have been a trilogy of movies or a webseries instead of that movie.
Or they should have just stick to the sub zero vs scorpion storyline or any origins storyline...and slowly work their way up...idk 🤷

So I saw the movie in the cinema before the US release. If you are a MK fan this will be an incredible movie I wont give spoilers but Cole Young addition to the movie was a great choice to get new and old fans united and excited and having a storyline. This director needs to stay the director for all upcoming MK movies. Johnny Cage is not dead and the movie indicates him for the sequel so I cannot wait for the sequel. I can just see this movie doing incredibly well at the box office and that this October will feature a massive MK revival for Halloween costumes. Kung lao Fatality is daaaaamn !

While the CGI Reptile in MK (1995) wasn't great, the Liu Kang vs Ninja Reptile fight is definitely one of the top 3 fights of the movie.

One change they *need* to make in the movie is having Scorpion's famous/infamous line, "Get Over Here!" done by Ed Boon. I mean no disrespect to the actor playing Scorpion, but you really can’t have someone other than Ed Boon do the line. He’s been doing the line since Mortal Kombat (1993) and you can’t have a live action film use that line without giving it the proper respect it deserves.
