It's pretty refreshing that the villain had a practical solution for once. No over the top plan. No quest for an ancient artifact of great power. No stalking the heroes until the climax of the film. Shang Tsung hears a prophecy? Shang Tsung sends assassins to end them.

Apparently the gore was gonna be much worse, so much so they were close to an NC-17 rating, so they had to bring it down so they could keep the R rating
I saw a Tweet the other day that said Mortal Kombat would work well as a Cinematic Universe, and now I’m sad we’ve never tried that. Imagine solo movies for some of the fighters building to an Avengers-like MK movie
This film was the exact amount of fanservice we all wanted from a Mortal Kombat film, and all of the Hanso fight scenes were the best choreographed. So satisfying.
Another Easter egg i think everyone missed was that Kabal has Strykers' police badge in his outfit, showing that this Kabal most likely went down the same path that MK9 Kabal did up until being burned
That was a unique choice by the director that landed well. Kudos to the director. I recently heard this was his first film. Not bad for his first movie 🎥

I have one small nitpick about this film, which is the mistranslation of Scorpion's last line before returning to hell: 我らの血統を守れ should be "Protect OUR bloodline" not "my bloodline". It's small, but makes a huge difference in Cole and Hasashi's relationship.

I think I may found another Easter egg... the final fight scene between Sub Zero and scorpion in the background, you can see Cole Young Punching away at the ice where his family is frozen all while the main fight is going on, almost a nod to the stuff that would go on in the background during the pit stages in the video game
According to the filmmakers, they saved Cage for the sequel because they thought having two egotistical jackasses ham it up would lead to them overshadowing each other.

When Raiden appears with the others at the frozen Gym, Cole says “I thought you couldn’t get involved”. I think Raiden teleported Scorpion from Hell to help him in his fight against Sub Zero. Remember Cole did ask “Can you teleport anyone , anywhere”.
EARLIER IN THE MOVIE: Raiden gives Cole Scorpion's blade knowing Cole can only be the one to release Scorpion from hell before sending Cole back to his family since he couldn't unlock his power. This is what Cole was referring to when said i thought you couldn't get involved to Raiden.
Raiden didn’t teleport Scorpion or anything like that. He ‘got involved’ when he gave Cole the kunai with Scorpions blood on it because he knew that mixing Coles blood with Scorpions he could summon Scorpion because theyre from the same bloodline.
Honorable mentions: - 6:26 on the middle pillars near Liu Kang to the left is the marking of one of the Kamidogus, and the pillar to the right at the bottom is the Shokan logo. Honestly, movie was better than I thought it would be. Granted I thought it would be a hot mess, but overall there was actually stuff to enjoy and laugh at that the screenwriters intended audience members to laugh at.

it was because the trailer version is more realistic since Hanzo is from Japan and likely only could do some broken english but at the same time fans wanna have at least the similar "GET OVER HERE" one from the game. So the director heard us fans and did a redone for us to make that sounds similar to the game =)

I absolutely love the fight between Hanzo and Bihan. After watching it i skipped from that fight to the final Scorpion Sub Zero fight. The facial expressions and fight choreography is so intense. I can't wait to see where they go next. 100 percent worth the wait.
Everything was spot on for the Easter eggs all except 1 subzero makes his ice sword also called the Kori Blade which is what the second sub zero would later use in the PS2 games as his weapon (deadly alliance, deception, and Armageddon) But we’ll done on everything thing else
You missed Subzero's Ice Decoy when Scorpion jumps into the cage during the final fight. A blink and miss it reference that made me, at 30, giggle a lil.
Josh Lawson, the actor who played Kano, was recently hospitalized with severe back pain. The injury is said to have been caused by him carrying the entire movie
Cole being a punching bag kinda makes me think that at some level he's the movie adaptation of Meat :D His arm weapons could be a nod to Baraka's blades. And the crowbar is a nice, probably unplanned, Half-Life reference :D
I even liked how lu Kang just spammed the low kick on Kano. Lot of game references in this movie and it's awesome. Definitely worthy of being in my collection.

The way they made Kabals character to a movie character was simply a masterpiece. From costume to his fighting. Probably my favorite thing of it all
My favourite was when Kano jumped then said, "oh shit". Just liked I'd feel whenever I got caught with a badly timed jump.

Honestly despite not picking up it was a reference, I found that moment really funny ^^
Was the way Scorpion said “get over here” more clearer than it was in the trailer ? And his signature chain attack looks amazinggg and so does the way it just slicks back into his hand or sleeve! I did however want a teleport kick and we just didn’t get it 🙄
I do think it was redone compared to the trailer. Not sure if they ripped it straight from the latest game or not though
I personally liked the trailer version
it was because the trailer version is more realistic since Hanzo is from Japan and likely only could do some broken english but at the same time fans wanna have at least the similar "GET OVER HERE" one from the game. So the director heard us fans and did a redone for us to make that sounds similar to the game =)
I love how Shazam and Raiden were friends of Thor before becoming beings of lightning themselves.

The Kano in this movie acted more like Captain Boomerang and less like a weapons dealer who becomes the General of Kahn's army.
Technically he was only the Kano we know from the games for like one week I don’t even think he killed anybody on screen with his laser eye lol

I absolutely love the fight between Hanzo and Bihan. After watching it i skipped from that fight to the final Scorpion Sub Zero fight. The facial expressions and fight choreography is so intense. I can't wait to see where they go next. 100 percent worth the wait.

Everything was spot on for the Easter eggs all except 1 subzero makes his ice sword also called the Kori Blade which is what the second sub zero would later use in the PS2 games as his weapon (deadly alliance, deception, and Armageddon)

You missed Subzero's Ice Decoy when Scorpion jumps into the cage during the final fight. A blink and miss it reference that made me, at 30, giggle a lil.
The reason Hanzo (Scorpion) can speak English is because he has spent centuries in hell watching the world go by through his descendants

I don’t know why but Cole’s armor reminds me of Black Panther’s vibranium armor that can absorb the kinetic energy

I even liked how lu Kang just spammed the low kick on Kano. Lot of game references in this movie and it's awesome. Definitely worthy of being in my collection.
Everyone is totally sleeping on Joel McHale being the perfect Johnny Cage! He even voiced him in scorpions revenge. Joel has the build, the comedy background and the all around attitude that’s perfect for Johnny Cage
