If you realise Smith's suit no longer greenish anymore because he is out of the system.
The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.

Something mentioned in The Animatrix (I'm pretty sure at least) is that the kid that runs up to Neo when they arrive in Zion is unique in that he is the only known human to have released himself from the Matrix with no outside assistance.

This has some of the best action scenes I've ever seen in a movie . The skill and perfection to pull of stunts like this is truly mind blowing the fact that this movie doesn't seem to age makes you wonder are we in the matrix.

There's a good reason why it's called Matrix Reloaded because it gets you Reloaded with adrenaline with the cool action and Agent Smith clones fight. When this was released it got me Reloaded with excitement most out of the Matrix trilogy.
The endings of Matrix and M Reloaded with Rage Against the Machine are top tier.
I still remember seeing tjis for the first time and the gasp from the entire theatre when it was revealed that Neo was the 6th instance of the One
26:02 I just want to call attention to what _this_ scene indicates. In the _first_ volume, Morpheus explained to Neo that not a _single_ free human had successfully made a stand against an agent. Subsequently, we saw just how badass they _were._
_This_ agent, though, is an _upgrade._ So however badass the agents were before, this one's _better._
And Morpheus is successfully making a _stand._ Morpheus' skills have _improved._

I was like 15 when this movie came out, and when I saw that moment in the cinema, my little young brain just popped from overload of seeing the coolest fight scene in a movie I've ever seen. My jaw was on the floor and I was just blown away. Little young me, just going "... whoooooooooaa..... 8O"
In 1st movie Neo had to accept cookies to meet Oracle. In this one he needs to fight spam to meet her.
He also had to fight a firewall (Seraph) 😂
Who noticed that Smith saves Neo's life by delaying them inside the portal long enough for Trinity to get the power off?

Back when came out. They had a video game called Enter the Matrix, that ran parallel with this movie as you played as Niobe and Ghost. They even filmed additional live action footage for the cut scenes

1:46 It kind of caught me off guard when I saw _this_ guy here instead of Tank. I know he was only a _supporting_ character in the first one, but _as_ a supporting character, the actor, Marcus Chong, played the part well.
As I understand it, though, he did one of the _dumbest_ things imaginable. During contract negotiations for the sequels, he _actually threatened_ the Wachowskis. That's why his character was killed off. 🤷♂

Seeing the opening sequence, Trinity dying like that, it puts things into perspective, makes you worried about what will happen in the movie, if Neo can really save her or rather, change the future.
Laura makes a good point, agent Smith becomes less and less likeable with each scene he has.
Neo and Trinity not being able to keep their hands off each other is really cute but seeing all those people waiting for him when the elevator doors open - it makes you realize just how many people put their faith into him, consider him a saint of sorts.
Zion people sure know how to party/orgy!
"Oh god" - "Smith will suffice" - cocky little program, he does know how to deliver one liners.
The discussion between the Oracle and Neo really gets you thinking but her cheerful, motherly atittude somehow reassures not just Neo but even you, the viewer.
The fight sequences never dissapoint and the one between Neo and Smith is clearly a step above the previous movie. Stuff just gets more and more epic.
Speaking of Smith's obsession for Neo...he's starting to look more and more like a tsundere 😂
The Merovingian with his slimy behaviour never fails to make people angry and in turn, Persephone showed him what happens when you fuck around. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
They've really put the poor Keymaker through the wringer with that car chase, the shooting, explosions and in the end, he gave his life for the cause.
Just like his talk with the Oracle, Neo got his rug pulled out from under him by the Architect too. All the lore dump we get here, the choice (not really a choice) that Neo has to make, it's a terrifyingly good scene. The finality in the Architects "We won't" line, he is supremely confident about it.
Neo rushing to catch Trinity and then saving her and resurrecting her after - truly the power of love, like you pointed out, Magy.
The movie ended in a bit of a cliffhanger but it was a satisfying conclusion overall.
You make a very good point, Magy, rewatching it a couple of times helps you pick up more things, details that might've escaped you, pay more attention to the dialogue.

Like always, loving your reactions. Does anyone know if those ghostly twins survived or not? I've been assuming they did thanks to their "ghost form" and the invulnerablility they gain from it plus the instant healing. One last question: why did freedom from the system drive Smith absolutely batty?
Smith was already a little unbalanced before, as he seemed to be the only one of the original Agents who was capable of feeling emotions like hate. After being freed from the system, he was able to fully embrace his nihilistic outlook.
Carrie-Ann Moss's real superpower is not looking ridiculous in that PVC outfit. There are very few people who could get away with that look (Kate Beckinsale in Underworld manages it). She looks effortlessly cool.
I still remember when we saw MR in the theatre and it ended "to be continued..." 😱 and we didn't knew how long we had to wait for the next part 😮😮
BTW I've seen the Matrix trilogy many times, I even bought the DVD box set, and I still discover new things in the movies.

This movie has flaws, but it makes up for it in ambition. It wasn’t well received at first because of the unbelievable amount of hype that it got, there was no way it could live up to it. But having some distance from that it’s much easier to appreciate this movie more. I especially like how it steers clear of typical action movie sequel tropes and goes off in unpredictable directions.
This was a lot of fun. Did you not do the 3rd movie after all? Either way, thanks for this. You are my new favourites to binge.
Should have saw The Animatrix before this one. The Animatrix explains a lot of the Matrix universe.

7:50 Neo and Trinity's sex scene is probably one of the finest scenes of the sort in any movie. Her reassuring him really makes you feel for both of them. Two reserved, introverted characters finally being vulnerable with each other. The fandom of The Matrix dislikes this scene too much already to see how good the filmmaking here is. And that beat's so fuckin good.

Why don't you also watch Matrix Revolutions together..? Just a suggestion, then you see the happy ending (The matrix is restored to a stable version). And matrix 4 is just a bonus in my eyes, also has a nice ending. But the french guy needs a better restaurant.

For me, neither of the sequels captured the magic of The Matrix. Simply because it never needed any sequels. The point of The Matrix's ending is that WE are ALL "Neo". I also wasn't a huge fan of turning Neo into this messianic/Superman type figure. But anyway, Reloaded was an ok film to be fair. Some good philosophical themes are presented (simplistically, but well done). I absolutely LOVE The Architect's speech. As a writer and fan of writing, his dialogue and perfect delivery is brilliant. Yes, a lot found it overblown and confusing, but it is understandable if you listen. Same with the Merovingian's scene in the restaurant. Loved it. The action was fine, but too long and overblown. The first one had far better sequences imo.
I completely agree with you that the first Matrix film was a perfect film that didn't need any sequels, but I still love Reloaded and Revolutions. But I will always love the first Matrix film more than Reloaded and Revolutions and I will probably never watch Resurrections. But one line from the Oracle in Reloaded has stuck with me all these years and influenced the way I think about my entire life:
"You didn't come here to make the choice, you've already made it. You're here to try to understand why you made it."
