I’m 14 years old and over the past year I have dealt with severe anxiety and depression. I was always so worried about myself and I hated going to bed knowing that I would have to wake up the next morning. I found this song and it literally brought me to tears, not just for my own struggles, but for the problems of others. I’m praying for all of you with mental illnesses. And just know everything is going to be okay and that you are loved! I love you, God loves you, and all of the people surrounding you in this world love you. And remember you are perfectly amazing just the way you are and have nothing to fear. And please, do not keep your struggles to yourself. I got help and am feeling much better. Sometimes the best they to do is just get someone to listen. This may be hard to believe but please please please, it’s the truth. Please get help! Keep going there is light at the end of the road! I’m sure shinedown is just too busy to read their comments, but if they were to ever see this I want to just thank them from the bottom of my heart. I lost my best friend last year and I’ve been so close to giving up more times than I can count, I just want him back. This song really hits me hard, the part of the lyrics “Get up, Get up, Get a move on” really just makes me so indescribably happy, I just can hear my best friend saying this to me and it’s really helped me through this all, thank you Shinedown, you have no idea how big of heroes you are❤️
Shinedown does care, they see you, they always see us. Brent does actually live out of a suitcase. He doesn’t have a “home”. He is on the road 280 days a year
This man fought thru addiction, he won. He came out on the other side and is healthy. Not many people can do what he did. Love this band and their positive message.
One thing to note with addiction. It's not that he won. He fights it every day. And every day he is clean, he wins.
Anyone can do it. I'm nobody and I did. 6+ years clean and free. The world opened up and let me in. It was cold out there.
@@shipxcrnr I don't fight addiction everyday anymore I conquered My demons now I'm out there helping everyone else conquer there I don't care what the old saying saying I'm in school to be an addiction psychologist so I know what they say once an addict always an addict! that's not true!!! that's a stronghold we put in our minds. That's a demon that's in our heads because when you put yourself on your highest level and you get in tune with your highest level spirituality your higher self you won't be an addict you'll conquer all your demons because now you are an highest form of yourself and you have done your Shadow work purging that addiction and whatever else it was that was low entities and low vibrational! now you're at a higher vibrational level which means that you attract higher vibrational level things and though sometimes your level of vibrations may go down a tad, it's very unlikely that it will ever go down that low again because your spiritual and you have the understanding that the only thing guaranteed in constant in life is change! So never try to stop it just enjoy the war I because life's a journey and no matter how bad you think it is it's always for your higher good! You've got to close one door before another one can open! So if you're stuck in the past you're never going to move forward! You've got to forgive and heal and that means forgive any and everyone that's ever hurt you forgive yourself and then processed and released that pain no longer carry it with you no longer claim it learn to accept and love yourself that's what life's about unconditional love and it starts with you!!! which means you purge out all that crap that's no longer serving you and you're living for the greater good and you're helping others live for the greater good by shining your light on to them helping them heal and they interns to shine their light on to the others helping them them and when you get enough people shining their light on the other people then the evil AKA lower vibrational energies or entities AKA addiction drugs alcohol will be extinguished they will extinguished themselves just like a wildfire if you extinguish enough of the wildfire the rest of it will extinguish itself. I don't believe once an addict always an addict I believe that the limits that we place on ourselves just as long as you believe that you're always going to be an addict then guess what you will always be just that! I am not an addict I was an addict but I conquered my demons I doing my shadow work and becoming my higher version of myself going inwards and being authentic learning who I was what I want in life instead of basing my opinions and my values of myself in my acceptance of myself trying to look for another people it's all I had to do was look for it in myself give it all to myself everything I wanted already had it! To stop listening to what people teach you which is called conditioning and we are we begin conditioning the day were born. Conditioning is what you're taught to believe. Being authentic being your authentic true authentic self being one in alignment with your higher self means that you are authentic you are showing exactly who you are to the world in you're not ashamed you're not afraid and you don't care what people think or say that's authentic you are your true authentic self you shed away or Purge everything that you were taught from the day you were born. I'm not saying that they were wrong because they were taught the same thing the day they were born. who says that way is right? who said that's the way you have to believe? that's the things you have to do in life? As long as you're not hurting someone else or yourself and you're doing what makes you happy then guess what? you're doing what you're supposed to do. It's none of my business what others say or think about me because it's not my job to put my happiness on them and it's not their job to put their happiness on to me. That's what's wrong with the world today they want to judge everybody for what they do when all actuality it's probably something you do too because people mirror people all the time you project your shadow-self on the someone else and they mirror it back to you so normally something that you see in someone else that really irritates the shit out of you or pisses you off so badly it's more than likely them mirroring back to you the ugly in the darkness inside of you so you need to really go inside and reflect and see what it is that you need to heal and release because is no longer serving you and maybe it did serve you at one point in time in your life but now it's not and you can release it! I just went through my first covert narcissistic relationship and I'm an empath a lightworker and spiritual healer. Is my purpose to help others to shine my light on to others because as I help heal others I am turn him myself and as I am able to heal myself I also heal others. I've had to go through the extremes because I've had to know pain I've had it on pain that I can feel it that's a little bit pain I have experienced pain to the depths of what most people would experience come because me being a Healer I need to know what pain is in order to understand it so that it can be healed and understand how the healing takes place that is why I had to go through what I went through cuz it wasn't about me it's about the people that I help I had to go through it so that I can help save Humanity because it's humidity that needs saving not the world gloves can be just fine without us. I've had to change my bleached and everything I was raised Pentecostal Preachers Daughter and a stepdaughter as well I said that was a Pentecostal preacher my great-grandfather was a Pentecostal preacher and he died right after giving his sermon was a smile on his face but yet I have turned against not against and I have it turned against my beliefs are now different and those of which I was conditioned to believe since a young child my Outlook and I perspective on life and people is changing I no longer first instinct is not now coming off harsh to someone because of something they do that is wrong as a moral now it's of the hurting I feel so bad I'm going to try to help them. I went through my entire life trying to save myself by saving others and in turn I self sacrificed my stability my home life my children the family Dynamic I self sacrifice because I rules or what some time more cuz I'm learning now to use my head some most of the time but I was ruled by my heart a my emotions and that is the things that caused me so much pain because I believed in people and it's not to say that their potential was not there however you cannot believe in someone else who does not believe in themselves and will refuse to believe in themselves you can't save those people you cannot save the ones who aren't willing to save themselves. Just wanted to say thank you for this song. One of my daughters has been struggling with mental health very recently, but I played this for her and she will now stop and listen. Often times, it helps settle her down just listening to the music and the message... So... Thank you for being an advocate for mental health.

I honestly feel bad for Shinedown. They make a really good meaningful song and they get attacked for "not being rock anymore." I met these guys 3 years ago, they are really great dudes. They don't deserve the hate for having a couple of softer songs on an album. Listen with an open mind, if the music bothers you, listen to the lyrics. The lyrics are meaningful and aren't like the rest of the music industry today talking about butts and sex. They worked hard on this album and I think it might be my favorite Shinedown album. Stop hating on them, they don't deserve it.

I'm 17, I grew up with them forever... Seen them in concert a couple years ago. In my opinion, all of their albums are just great. They worked too hard on them for criticism. Some people on here were even saying they didn't work hard on this album and that you can see they didnt..... They made the videos that explains how they felt about each song, where the ideas for them came from, etc... These songs are based off of real mental problems and physical or even mental struggles of them. Or just society being... what they are now. Lol. I struggle daily with my depression, to the point where i can barely move some days. Trying to find work, take care of my child, and take care of my sick wife, all while trying to hold myself together. Since i heard this song, I listen to it every single day. It brings me to tears some times but it helps. Music can have a huge impact on your life. And just as the song says, "your not the only one", help each other stand up for one another. Because you never know what someone else is going through and you never know what kind of impact you can have on there life by just being there for someone else.

I'm a public school teacher. I'm a single dad. Every day I fight the demons that life throws at us. Some days I don't want to get up. When I go to school I do my best to teach 11 and 12 year old children to learn to fight the difficulties that many of them already fight as immigrant families and/or as low-income families. No matter where we are from life has difficulties in store for us. I've lost friends to murder, failed hearts, disease and in the line of duty for our military. I recently lost my dad and he was the only constant adult in my life for 49 years. These days where songs like this remind me that life goes on and there are reasons to keep going. Life has a dark side and it always will. I have to remind myself to listen to the advice I give my daughter, "Look for the positives as there are many. Be thankful for what you have. Give thanks for the good things around us be they small or big." When I'm down, I think of the good days with my dad, the good days with my daughter, and the students who look up to me as an inspiration, a father figure, a steadying voice and hand, an ear to listen to and sometimes the only person who says something positive to them. I know I am doing good in this world as I see my daughter and she is happy and thriving. For anyone who reads this remember that when your are down go say a positive word to a stranger. Help someone you don't know. Be a positive in another's life as it is the best gift you can give, and in so doing you will lift yourself up, and "Get Up."

I've seen them twice; The second time when I was at Bliss, they were headlining, with Papa Roach and Otherwise, and it was a truly amazing experience. They were promoting Amaryllis, which is another great album. If you ever get the opportunity, go for it. You will NOT regret it.
My man came home and didnt talk to anyone about what he was going thru. He survived two tours to come home and give up. We buried him on my birthday. I dont understand the horrors as I wasnt there I do understand the depression however and all I can say is hang on dont give up there are ppl in this world who care about you and although I am a stranger I am one of them who cares

Same here. Shinedown is one band my whole family (me, wife, kids) agree on. We all saw them in concert at Mohegan and couldn't believe how good they are live. I had seen them opening for Godsmack, but Shinedown headlining is a whole different ball of wax.
I heard this song and almost instantly broke into tears, I know its exactly what my wife who passed from cancer would tell me. I miss her so much.

Lost a baby at 17 weeks & Shinedown got me through. Lost my big brother 1/24/21 at only 45. This band has helped me so much with that. Then 5/17/22 as my husband & I were on vacation, our house caught fire. The smoke killed 3 of my 4 dogs. My babies, not my pets. All after having to put 4 animals down in 2021 ( April, July, & December). This is 1 of only bands that I can get out of bed some days.
I am so very sorry for your losses. May their souls rest peacefully, and may yours gain closure.

I am a soldier in the United States Army and I found myself struggling with depression and some other personal issues. I was granted permission by my command team that I could go home on leave this Christmas, 2018. I had some struggles while I was there and the day I was leaving my uncle told Alexa to play Shinedown radio. I will never forget those words. This song came on after a few songs before it had played. When I heard this song I instantly feel in love with it. This songs is what I need everyday in my life. People don't need therapists and groups for help. They need someone to give them a nudge and let them know that they can do it. Life is hard, the best year of my life was when I moved to Massachusetts to live with my Aunt and Uncle and finish out my last year of high school. I ended up running cross country and never ran before. I actually found out that I was really good at it. When I graduated I did not know how much I loved it until the thoughts a creped in. I love my old team but when I got to that low point heard this song it motivated me. I am now going to start working on my degree in history and I am going to go to teach for a high school AP history class after my last 4 year contract which is this one, I will also be try to become a cross country coach. This song helped me and I praise the band for it.

What I love about this is the story the song tells if you only listen to the lyrics, while the video gives you the same message, but applied to a different situation. I can feel the deep compassion Brent has for his friend Eric through the lyrics, while in the images from the video give a sense that there is cleansing in moving forward with one's life after profound loss. This song touches my heart and gives me hope. Start each day with a grateful heart .

I'm facing a heart surgery that NO ONE in 5 years has wanted to touch (19 thoracic surgeons have declined my case). The only one in Indiana that took my case, dismissed me last August. Due to that, my insurance opened up to out-of-State. I was scared as shit. I have less than a 10% chance of surviving (why 19 surgeons turned me down). THIS SONG GIVES ME HOPE and LIFTS ME UP. I am trying to move foward after my husband's suicide in March 2017. He suffered from depression and PTSD and it all just got too much so he intentionally overdosed. I will never "move on" or get over it. I am just trying to keep living and honoring his memory.

@@danielgimber9005 Shinedown is legit! People love them around the world. I'm from Moscow, Russia. The guys came to us a week ago and I went to their concert. It was VERY COOOOOOL! It's truly my favorite band ever! Never disappoints me at all.

I was just blessed to go to a shinedown concert, and Brent Smith was one of the most gracious hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Absolutely outstanding performances, and holy hell what a nice guy. Really knows how to make fans feel wanted at the venue.

The first time I heard this song I got goosebumps from head to toe. I didn't even realize I was crying at first until my husband pulled me into his arms. This song hit me so hard... I know Brent was worried about showing the song to Eric because it was written for him, and I know how easy it could have been for them to decide it was too personal and not put it on the album. But I am soo glad they did. This song is going to positively impact so many people. Myself included. These words... They're a validation that we are not alone, that we are not broken or unwanted. Depression isn't something we ask for or something that can be 'fixed.' It's something that eats away at you until you feel like you are nothing... It takes a very special kind of person to be patient and understanding of someone else's depression. And to keep fighting for them instead of against what is happening to them... There are no words to describe what that means to those of us fighting the chaos in our minds. Thank you for this song. On so many levels.... Thank you.

Shinedown makes one uplifting song for people going through tough times, and the "fans" call them sell-outs. No, you, my friends, are the sell-outs. If you cant accept occasional tonal changes in bands, then you're gonna end up hating literally every band you once loved. So please, try to appreciate the song for what it is, or get that got-damn negativity outta here!

Not really a fan, I like a few songs like devil and cut the cord, however, if a lot of dedicated fans don't like this songs direction, maybe there's something to what they say.

Actually, as a longtime fan, I think this whole album is fucking brilliant.
Shinedown is not about a "Certain Sound" and it never has been. Shinedown has always been about musical and lyrical honesty.
Bands grow and change... and Im REALLY glad they do, because I don't want to hear the same record rehashed over and over and over again. That's not how *REAL* creativity even works!
As Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park said, musicians are artists and enjoy being creative with their music; their music will change as their life experiences change. He also said that it would drive a band crazy to produce the same song over and over, which is why Shinedown said from the beginning that they will never produce the same album twice. Mike also said that what they produce will never please all of their fans, so as long as the band is happy with the product, that's all that matters to them.
I've listened to Shinedown from the very beginning when 45 was released (2003 I believe). I have seen them 7 times (would be much more, but I live in Canada so I have to travel 5+ hours almost every time to see them) and every show is amazing because they put their heart and soul into everything they do and clearly love doing it. If they produced Leave a Whisper 6 times, I'd probably be sick of hearing it repeatedly for the last 15 years. I love having 6 albums to choose from that all have different vibes that I can choose based on how I'm feeling at the given time.
