Stephen Colbert Defends Campus "Protesters"

- Опубликовано: 1 май 2024
- Stephen Colbert recently came out in support of the student protests on college campuses, claiming that they have the right to protest as long as it's peaceful. He's generally wrong about this. Students do not have the right to shut down a building.

Colbert is a literal propagandist. I will never take him seriously, ever
took shownotes directly from hillary initiative and podesta his buddy. wikileaked. also he ran sickeningly transparent cover for alefantis. the comments on that one are fire. oh and some claim he's terrorizing a kid in a clownsuit in that one disturbing viral vid.
He literally just said students have a right to peaceably assemble...sound familar? Stop just interpreting culture thru bad actors like Knowles
@@Darwin_is_my_copilotthey aren’t peacefully assembling
He was paid to shill for the jab. Remember that cringey dance number?
Let them protest on his lawn. See how fast he flips and calls the cops.
He no doubt has private security like all entitled Democrats.
They’re not on residential lawns. Your point is mute.
@@jerardogonzalez007 Where they in areas designated for protests? I think the point is free speech does not give you a right to protest anywhere you wish.
How is that remotely the same thing? That's actually illegal
@@mattboyer3385 Because in both situations the protesting would be in an area that it is not allowed. You do know that the students were not in a designated protest area, which schools do have.
If that was a MAGA protest Colbert would go ballistic.
They were not peaceful
In LA they were attacked by a pro-Israel mob.
Good. Only an idiot protests in silence.
Like me cancelling my netflix or RUclips payments in protest.
Do you think they care?
Will they ever change?
@@jimijamesjowitt So edgy there Jimmy. Get out there brutha ✊🏼
The hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance on display is staggering.
He knows what he is doing. Hierarchy not hypocrisy.
First ammendment is not about violating others property.
Truth only confuses them.
First spell the word properly 😅
You don't have the right to break the law. That is not a peaceful protest.
Once someone's rights start infringing on others we have a problem. These "protesters" are gaining no sympathy for their cause by "protesting" this way.
It's clear to me that he's not paying someone's tuition . If he was , he wouldn't be saying this nonsense .
No such thing as a peaceful protest.
The actual acts of aggression have been by the pro Isreal Jewish frat guys
@jimijamesjowitt, that's anthitcal to our founding documents, unless you're saying protests need to be backed by the threat of force
"As long as they are peaceful" Has he been watching the protests?
What do you expect from a liberal??
Not much.
Nothing good.
That not liberal...that's moronic.
He isn't a liberal. He's a Leftist.
Right! They have to be all-in or they're in the dog house. It's straight from the cult leaders handbook for controlling the herd. No deviation from the agenda will be tolerated upon threat of banishment.
Taking over property that does not belong to you, is not peaceful protesting! The student's are deluded. Now they are demanding food and supplies. Maybe we should give the a one-way ride to Gaza, instead.
Actually that is the root of all protest.
Otherwise you would just have the person you are protesting arrested.
They aren't even all students..
If it's a public university, it belongs to you. Stop fellating Israel, they aren't our allies.
@dannettepeters1507 "Taking over property that does not belong to you." Oh the hipocracy.....Jan. 6 remember?
@@Vcafr0 If the doors are being flung open by the officials who are waving and inviting people in; that is NOT taking over! Were YOU afraid to look at the tapes? You know, the tapes that the J6 committee tried so hard to keep hidden. J6 was a planned SET-UP and Pelosi was right in the middle of it! WE KNOW there were FBI operatives in the crowd, doing their damnest to whip up a riot, which simply did not materialize!
When people in Maga hats did the same thing in the Capitol - they said it was "worse than Pearl harbour".
Funny thing is Israel isnt a left right thing.
Its public vs paid shills.
Anyone back Israel are a national security risk.
@@jimijamesjowittso the people shouting death to America and burning our flag aren’t a national security risk? I guess hatred trumps common sense with some 😢
Maga did not make an encampment 😊
Then got ushered into the capital and entrapped by the FBI
Oh stfu! Your all in the same uniparty.
They do and should get to protest so long as they're peaceful. However, they don't get to move in, and they dont get to destroy property.
And they don't get to chant death threats in the name of free speech.
Imagine actually defending the monsters who committed the atrocities of October 7th.
They don't get a chance!! 😢
Imagine thinking the conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7th, you'd have to be a simpleton who gets all their ideas from television to believe that.
Free speech is fine until you infringe on other people’s right to the oersuit of life liberty or freedom
Yes Sir
Correct, its a fine line for the emotionally immature
Free speech is fine until you do it in public and powerful people want to stop you*
FTFY
Hey, why wasn't this happening in 2020?
The worst sellout ever in the comedy genre. Stephen Vax-Dance Colbert.
Calling Stephen Colbert a comedian is like calling Hamas a humanitarian organization
💯
Calling him a Catholic is like calling Biden a Catholic
Honestly, that's the best I've ever seen from you, and I'm generally a fan of your work.
He did use to be a comedian, and centrist. Then they took his platform away and gave it back when he became a libl shill
They are. Palestinians are dependent on them for both welfare and military protection after killings and land confiscation incurred by Israel.
Colbert is the equivalent of a flea telling a dog when to wag its tail.
Why is he still on any media platform? He caters to foolish people that think they are well informed.
That's exactly why he still has media presence. Back when he was middle of the road, attacking everything and everyone bad, they took his platform away and only gave it back when he agreed to be a lib shill
He knows too many island names.
Colbert is no different than everyone else at ABC, NBC, CBS & other MSM outlets.
@@rickw3243 They are all belong to pressidung Obitedung gang
@@jtat7122 Yes & not to be taken seriously.
You can't fix stupid.
So people protest Jan 6th and it wrong... students protest in favor of Hamas and it's ok??? So sad
Truth in universities is an oxymoron.
😂😂😂😂 very true
Did you expect anything less from the dancing syringes?
colbert should get on his knees and thank Trump because his Show is all about bashing Trump, he would not have any other material
Peaceful protest isn't the same as unlawful rioting and damaging property. One is a 1st Amendment right, and the other is a crime.
Does anybody actually care about what Stephen Colbert has to say?
Reminds me of the third wave experiment. These students have no idea why they are doing what they are doing. Someone outside the schools started these protests and now they’ve taken on a life of their own
What a maroon
I think it’s funny colleges are having to deal with the little gremlins they’ve created, let the protesters stay😂 and let those not involved sue them!
Now Colbert is pro 1st Amendment?!? Kind of late to the show.
He was upset when Elon Musk allowed free speech on twitter.
Students have the right to protest but not the right to disrupt classes, take over buildings, or impede other students
The protests in the 60s weren't in support of jihad and terrorism. BIG difference.
Im not surprised.
At my daughters Catholic School, every Thursday is a pro-life day, and instead of their uniform they can wear pro-life T-shirts.
Well, what did we expect from a radical liberal? A reasoned, measured response? Hardly.
The 1960s hippy were never cool. That was all bs
They just became professors and taught normal people’s children they were cool.
Opposing the dumb Vietnam War was definitely cool.
Peace is MORE than the absence of violence, otherwise the charge of “disturbing the peace” has no meaning
Would love to ask those cheering in his audience what "from the river to the sea" means.
It means that the Palestinians will be free from the river to the sea. What do you think that it means?
It means something not applying to America and therefore it doesn't constitute an immediate danger to anyone nearby. Do you understand? It means grow up, its perfectly free speech. You seriously think a hypothetical wish to a foreign nation is a physical threat to someone living in America? Huh? its the same as someone chanting "Destroy Russia", its utterly irrelevant since we don't live in Russia.
@user-wj6dt5bq3w except it's not hypothetical to them. It's what they want and the destruction of Israel does affect the United States.
@@Eric-cj7ph Its hypothetical because those students don't hold power in any governments nor are they even living in the Middle East at the moment when the statement is being said. US speech laws are not based on imaginary distant futures.
@@Eric-cj7phIt doesn't matter what the statement is "to them", its an imaginary future and they do not hold any power at the moment in governments to make it happen. US doesn't design speech laws around imaginary future wishes. You can't seem to grasp that to violate the law the threat has to be immediate, posing immediate danger to people on campus that day. Fantasy threats about a foreign nation in an imagined future poses no harm to anyone on campus at the moment.
I wouldn't compare it to the Vietnam protests, I would compare it with the anti-jew Nazi marches of the Third Reich.
They protested against genocide during those marches too?
Israel now acts like moustache man worshipers did in the past. Palestinians are bad too, both sides suck
@@Letsplay222
I know you'll never actually reconsider anything, but the same people lying about these protestors also lied about the people they defeated in the war.
I know that's out of bounds, kooky, crazy, there was One Good War, etc but it's true.
@@Letsplay222no. They blamed the jews for all the world's problems.
Same as Israel is blamed for the situation in Gaza, even though
Hamas started a war
Hamas is the governing body in gaza
Hamas calls for gencidide of jews.
Pelastinans supported Hamas.
Israel left Gaza to self govern 20 years ago.
Yer, jews are the bad guys.
What is wrong with these people? Applauding for Hamas? Have they no morals at all?
I'm only concerned for my own kid who'll be out of high school soon. We are encouraging him to attend a trade school where he'll learn an in-demand skill and make a sh*t load of money doing it.
Right now, having that conversation with my older daughter. She was just remarking that she is SO glad she went to cosmetology school rather than college. And my younger daughter, who graduates next year, does not know what she wants to do. We are actively steering her away from college. she tends to be more impressionable & sensitive. Don't need her turning into a green haired weirdie
"If they are peaceful..." You can ignore everything he said after that since attacking other students isn't peaceful.
The students ARE learning from and obeying their professors and that is the problem.
After Colbert danced as a syringe, he became irrelevant.
He's delusional
His dancing with Covid needles relegated him to the wtf WRONG side of History
That was a grand segment: serious subjects and I laughed through much of it, especially the AP's report on the horrors of traditional Catholicism.
Thought I was liberal but hey guess what… after all this crap happening, I’ve realised- yea I’m conservative. The insanity of the world has made me very quickly realise that.
I like the way Colbert conflates the First Amendment right to freedom of speech and protest with the actual violence, trespassing and rioting. Rather than questioning what actually happening, the seals in the audience clap…
Can we say willful "puppet"!!!
We ALL need to take 10 people with us when we vote for President Trump and we should volunteer to be poll and Dropbox monitors with cameras. Oh, and FJB.
Peacefull my A-s!
You can’t criticize who truly controls you
That part about the Catholic Church is 100% true. I grew up in a Catholic family in a small town in Michigan, and our Church was traditional, all the way down to the organ music. We didn't talk about abortion then, because back then liberals said that it should be safe legal, and rare, but we see what that turned into now. I went to a college and attended their Church, and it was a nightmare. The priest was old, he let some liberal chick run the show, all the way down to giving the homilies. Attendance sucked, they had hippie soft rock music, it was just awful. Then, as is tradition in my diocese, after 9 years, that priest got shuffled off to another Church, or he retired, I'm not sure, and we got a new priest, fresh out of seminary, and EVERYTHING changed. He took over, and the lady who ran rough shod over the old priest sat in the pews, and eventually I never saw her again. We had organ music with traditional songs that I grew up hearing, we had Latin, and the place was PACKED. I really think that it was the fact that suddenly all the people coming back to the Church is what caused the lady to stop attending, she couldn't take the fact that nobody wanted to hear her pro-abortion feminist crap, and when she saw with her own eyes how unpopular her message was, she couldn't take it.
These are the same students who required coloring books and safe spaces in high school when Trump got elected.
Anytime Colbert opens his shitspouter, consider the source.
That's an insult to the anti-Vietnam protesters.
Social engineering
@RealMichaelKnowles- everyone’s controlled.
Could Cold Bert be any more pathetic? He tries.
Colbert needs to send a check to Portland State University. THOUSANDS of dollars in damage to the campus. It's closed down - no education!
If the students aren't even learning how to protest properly, what does that say about the degrees they are supposedly earning?
They're nothing but a bunch of sheep
Wow, Colbert needs to dig his own grave at this point. Eventually they'll turn on him when his past is found.
Isn’t he the clown who dressed up as a COVID vaccine?
Thank you Michael! 🏆🙏
He's suckling the teet of greed and power. Always HAS BEEN.
Knowles?
Since when does freedom of speech apply on private property? You get as much speech as the owner allows, then you have to leave. As my grumpy old friend Walt used to say, GET OFF MY LAWN!
The protesters should invade his house and see how he likes his new guests
One of the reasons that I chose Catholicism is because I thought the church had a backbone and no matter what it would stand behind me to teach good morals and ethics to my children Since Francis, I am very worried about our church. Pope Francis does not seem to have the same morality or backbone that our church has always had. If it continues, I will find a church that does have backbone.
Bad popes is no reason to leave the church….. if Christ created the Catholic Church to abandon it is to abandon Christ.
popes come & go. there have been awful ones in the past & the church stood firm on doctrine. More important are your parish priests. Ours actually wrote in our bulletin where he stands on gay marriage - not gonna happen. If your parish priest is iffy, then move to another parish instead of leaving the one, true faith!
@@pattyhansen7563 thanks Patty, that’s exactly what I was thinking
I wonder what Candace Owens thinks? Oh wait, I can't know because the Daily Wire has put a gag on her to prevent her from speaking. Good job men.
Candace Owens sucks ✓
I'm pretty sure she would say that "From the River to the Sea" is perfectly legal free speech which it is. The statement is talking about a location overseas and is thus no threat to anyone on campus contrary to the claims of the lying propagandist Stefanik.
Peaceful means you are not breaking the law.
The First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. I guess these college students failed Civics. The operative word in the Amendment is "Peaceably". Maybe they're confused as a result of the America media. During the George Floyd riots the Media called the riots "Mostly Peaceful" as buildings were burning in the background. Steve, If I am not mistaking you called the George Floyd riots peaceful.
I go to Farmingdale State College and I hadn't even noticed that there were no riots on the campus until I was asked about it. Then, I thought about it and realized there weren't even any flags or propaganda for either side. And it's not that people on campus haven't mentioned the ongoing catastrophe or don't have differing opinions on it, but that they talk about it in the civilized and rational way befitting of western societies. Obviously, the curricula is badly infected by government propaganda typical of fiat academia, but the students don't simply eat it up hook line and sinker. Gee, I guess commuter schools attended by students that have actual jobs and responsibilities tend to be less clownish. Who would've thought?
You lost me when you claimed that the professors are supposed to be acting like the students parents. No, they’re not.
Damnit Colbert!!! Be better
@RealMichaelKnowles- sure about what?
Thats because they weren't camping in his yard.
So can we, peacefully, just walk on his show during a taping and peacefully start screaming?
ALL RESPECT TO ALL HONEST PROTESTERS FOR JUSTICE and HUMAN RIGHT 💗💘❤️
You say these students are suppose to be at school studying and not not out protesting. Why didn't you and your American politicians say the same thing about the students protesting during the Hong Kong 2019 violent demonstration? Double-standards? Hypocrite? Why Nancy Pelosi called the HK violent demonstration "a beautiful sight" and not the American one?

6:21 I’m 33, and have been a Christian my entire life, but I’ve never heard the term “sacrament” before.

Why didn't he defend us at Charlottesville when we said the same thing about Jews?
Why do you care?
Press the advantage now and criticize Knowles for selling out his people.
Is anyone else sick of hearing about other countries?

I'm kinda sad I somehow missed seeing Priests in board shorts. Just as a novelty. To say I got to see it.
They can peacefully protest but taking over buildings is not peaceful. Blockades are not peaceful. Camping out where you are not allowed to camp and refusing to leave is not peaceful.
Don't forget the Orthodox Church.
100% true about the Catholic Church. We have 2 young, new priests & trad to the max! Love it! And we have many younger people & young families attending. I want the TRAD church - keep it coming. I want sobriety & seriousness, not namby-pamby feel good bullshit
Lunatics cover for lunatics Mike my fellow cigar aficionado.
Yes, it IS a first amendment right Stephen. However, it is also rules by the university. And they enforce those rules arbitrarily. Finally, being called on it, they are enforcing the rules. It’s a private university. If they want to be diks, it’s their call. Free speech isn’t covered if I get on my neighbors lawn
Well, this explains all the "Democratic Party Divide . . . " "Division Marks Democratic Party . . . " "Factions of Democrats Fighting Each Other . . ." headlines. Whoa, wait a minute . . .
These protests are anything but peaceful from what I've seen.
I no longer have free speech in the United States of America. Thanks, RUclips.
Oi Michael why don't you debate Norman Finkelstein and Bassem Youssef I hope you need it
That woman was willing to overlook tens of thousands of sexual abuses but the second catholics wants to be catholic again, she couldn't take it.
I cannot take his arrogance I haven't watched his show in years. Going to university is for an education not protesting. Keep in mind not all the protesters are students.
Does anyone with like any common sense even watch night time talk shows anymore? I couldn’t care less what any of these ppl think they all talk the same garbage while our country goes to completely chaos.
