@@normstrains After seeing your DD "shrine" I was inspired and bought my first DD kit, the "First Timer Bar." I assembled it per the DD instructions and am testing painting techniques now on the spare walls they provide. Was curious about your technique. Thanks Norm, great work, love your layout and Greenbrook. What is inspiring is the "big layout" look and feel you created for a straightforward track plan and medium-sized space. Fantastic work.

It would be interesting if you did a video on how you wired your custom signals from TERRY CHRISTOPHER which I happen to be a very big fan of his product and I’m in the process of studying these wiring configurations you seem to have mastered it at this point so it would be interesting to see how you are about wiring up your signals just a thought keep up the good work.

I painted the side of the rails with Floquil Rail Brown (still have a bottle and a half I'm trying to preserve) then dusted it with Model Masters acrylic Grimy Black.

Hi Norm, I have just recently discovered your channel and I must say you have a fabulous layout. I wish I had the room for O Gauge/Scale the detailing is excellent. I’m at the other end of the scale and I’m currently building an N gauge/scale layout. Even though it’s a much larger scale I like the use of foam and intend to use it on my layout to so lots of good tips. Looking forward to your next episode, cheers for now Norm, John
One more thing I'd like to add, Norm. How you built the curve with the foam, plaster of paris, the look of it with either the Pennsy I1's or the B&O EM-1 gives it that "B&O Cumberland Division West End" feel and look. I mean like, "rounding the curve @ Terra Alta, WV"
Norm I’ve tried every material available and I do not want to use much ground foam You have trackside and layout grass above your track rail would you share how you achieve this grass effect. I’m going crazy because you have found out how to achieve this effect. Thank you

On your layout part 2 how wide is it from the wall to the end you never say how why it is each side is a 4 ft or 3 ft and in the other side how long is it
Glad to see the second video norm! You have come a long way since then. Since your layouts shape is a double tracked loop with two yards, some extended sidings and an extension for the roundhouse and servicing, how do you avoid getting bored from seeing long trains go round and round on the layout? I wish not create com thing similar, but need a way to avoid becoming bored despite enjoying just watching trains go round and round? Do you do things like servicing and switching activities for your trains?
I didn’t build the layout for operation. I think if that’s your interest your design should start with that in mind right at the beginning. I haven’t gotten bored in any case. I keep finding stuff to do all the time. I suppose if I ever expanded I could include operations with off layout staging.

Hey Norm I have a question do you have a freight yard?
I have a couple of long sidings on the inner loop at the front of the layout, that’s it really. I’d like to have an off-layout staging yard someday.

It’s roughly 29’ wide by 36’ long. Most of the layout sections can be anywhere from 30” (duckunder) to 54” wide (car shop section).

What third rail? Do a good job making it look real and like the Velveteen Rabbit it becomes real.
