Kairos time gamings series was a perfect example of this, he specifically used club league to max out his power point cap and extort more coins. As soon as they changed the rewards to star drop and mega pigs, his progress dropped off significantly. The only reason he was able to get so many brawlers max, and why so many F2P players have them maxed, is because of the progress before star drops.

Been playing from 2019, f2p, not making a break for longer than a few days, at a time... Was buying every second brawl pass (when it was possible to get it with gems)... Now, got every brawler at power 11, all gadgets and star powers unlocked, but missing already around 25 hyper charges, which means I'm short at least 125k coins, which is insane. Got all the coins from masteries already, so no other way to increse the coin per day averages. Sucks and really, one of the most annoying aspect of the game, alongside retarded matchmaking.

Idk, maybe you are doing something wrong, or i am just lucky, but... Playing since Global, F2P, uninstalled my game 3 or 4 times for about a month to have a break, bought only 3 brawl passes with gems (i spent a lot of gems on skins and now kinda regretting it because bling exists). Also bought one true gold and two true silver skins. Also also bought a hypercharge collector's pack for Piper with gems, and a mythic skin for her as well. Currently at 83/84 brawlers at lvl11 with both gadgets and star powers (still didn't unlock Kenji) 33/43 hypercharges, and most of my brawlers have 2 gears (every epic and mythic bought, 44 gears missing in total to have every brawler with 2 gears, even though some brawlers have 3 already). Additionally i have 18301 coins in my pocket waiting for Kenji and next update HCs, plus 49750 coins still locked behind mastery rewards (including Kenji). Which means if i unlocked and fully upgraded Kenji right now, collected all mastery rewards, and spent all coins on gears, i would have all brawlers upgraded to the maximum, 33/43 hypercharges and still have coins for one or even two more HCs, and on top of that, enough gems for 2 more HCs (still gonna spend these on skins or something else probably) Upd: oh and just in case: i maxed my account once before somewhere around after they released Amber, by that i mean everyone at max lvl, 2 gadgets and 2 star powers. We had only 9 levels and no gears back then, but maybe you can compare with your progress and see if it was better or worse for you.

you know what, ima be honest i was one of those complaining about coin shortage, but now after watching your video i got to know that i just hate excessive power points, and getting pp from starrdrop feels more frustrating than exciting, and getting a pp based progression will surely make me excited about getting pp just as me getting coins (i understad it now, this video plus the skin-locked content kairos made made me realized this problem of mine, because kairos also said that he never got the excitement of getting skins so he made that series)
My solution: Buff the end-game trophy road coin rewards it wouldnt affect early game players and make their shortage even worse, while still helping endgame players deal with their shortage
Look I don’t know how much this means coming from some random comment on RUclips, but genuinely great job on this video. It’s informative, well thought out, and addresses a lot of key issues outside of “no coins, me angry!” and why players feel the way they feel. My only hope is that this video gets shared around a ton as the whole community would benefit immensely from the knowledge which would promote productive discussions of the issue instead of the typical bad-faith arguments we see commonly. 10/10 and well done!
Haven't fully watched the video yet, but i believe I already understood that. We do get enough coins But we use them way faster (Everything costs coins if you want to upgrade a brawler. Level, gear, gadget, star power...) We also do get enough PowerPoints But we only use them to upgrade a brawlers level, and the starpoints required are WAY less than the amount of coins required Also if you don't upgrade, that means you'll be weaker than the opponents, since even at low trophies people's levels are already absurd
This vid actually made me feel way worse about progression in the game. At 31:22 you can see that the total number of power points a F2P player can get in a year is 60825, and that the new content alone takes up 44880 of those. That means that the net power point gain every year for F2P players is only 15945. To give a sense of how bad this actually is, let me use Kairos' F2P account as an example (which is almost 2 yrs old and basically hasn't missed any progression). On that account, he needs 164260 power points to get all 84 brawlers to power 11. With only 15945 net power points every year, it is going to take him MORE THAN 10 YEARS to upgrade every brawler to p11. The worst part is that, as mentioned in the vid, the dev team seems to be planning to introduce some feature that costs even more power points on top of those alr required. So basically, it is impossible to max your account as a F2P, which is super disappointing.
In case anyone is curious, if Kairos were to buy the BP every month on his F2P account, the time would go from 10 yrs to 3.66 years, and with the BPP, the time would go to 2.61 years. This is obviously much more reasonable, but it still seems super long for someone who is consistently paying for the game.
I don't really want to max my account as a F2P, I don't think that is the goal of the Dev team. Hearing (and experiencing) that every year I can easily get 10 brawlers maxed is enough for me. I get to make the choice of which brawlers I enjoy and sink resources into.
@@bedlamBS Fair but I don't think it actually adds too much. Bronze 2 mastery for 12 brawlers a year is around 1500 pp and assuming the avg player gets like 15000 trophies a year (which I think is pretty reasonable), that's another 2400 pp a year. It would reduce the time from 10 yrs to 8.27, but realistically that's still not attainable. Even if you got up to silver 2 for 12 brawlers, the time only goes to 7.5 years.
Another thing that helps with the "Coin shortage", your role in the team / roles you like playing. I enjoy Marksmen and a few supports like Gene and Max, and am not a fan of most assassins or tanks. Early on I divided resources into everyone, but slowly picked out the brawlers I enjoyed playing, invested accordingly, and still have a decent buffer of coins. "But you won't max out all your brawlers." Do I truly need a maxed out Frank if I dislike playing him?

I have played this game since year one, short before they added the brawl pass mechanic to the game (literally like a a week or two) i manage to fully max out my account as a free to play player, then i started to pay for the brawl pass and keep up my max account for a little while but then gears and power 11 appear. I tried since then to max up my account again i even buy the brawl pass plus and some offers now and then but i haven't max out my account, i also play almost daily, do all the brawl pass quest, play in a club for a max mega pig (didn't play in a club back in club league because it was so stressful and have a small club with just friends) but haven't manage to max out all my brawlers and its kind of frustrating at this point to be honest and i can't imagine how more frustrating this would be as a free to play player so i totally understand the coin shortage feeling.

Im surprised nobody ever mentions this. I think a big reason people why old players have so many power points is this: Back when we had boxes as our normal progression, we had BRAWLER SPECIFIC POWERPOINTS. Once PowerPoints were not BRAWLER SPECIFIC, any BRAWLER SPECIFIC powerpoints would stay on the brawler as like leftover powerpoints that you already invested. I think i can speak for a lot of us that we didnt just try to max out the brawlers that existed during boxes first. We went for the new most broken released brawler until hypercharges were added. Then we went back to the old brawlers, had discounted powerpoint upgrades, but had to pay full price for getting power 10 and 11 (just 11 if you got that nany powerpoints on one brawler before they removed boxes) on top of paying for 10 and 11, you now had to spend 5k coins for a hypercharge. Ill give u an example, my squeak is power 9. I need power 10, 11, and his hypercharge, AND his gears. I only need 2 powerpoints to get him to power 10, then i pay the full price for power 11. But 2? 2?! Thats all i need for one of his upgrades. I think this is a pretty big reason not enough people talk about
As a Brawlstars player since January 2019, I never actually felt a coin shortage, probably because I have no "saving up" mentality. It's a shame that other players feel that they need way more coins. Finding this video is actually very interesting and helpful nonetheless, but I just spend my coins so it's not that I bother with coin stonks. Anyone else feel that way too, or is it just me?

Alllll of that useless cosmetics from epic, mythic and legendary stardrop.. you could've get gadget and save 1k coins, sp for 2k coins, hc 5k coin and brawler depending on rarity coulve save lots of credits/gems depending on the rarity... Mega box doesn't have cosmetics and have multiple reward in one box thats why its always 100% better

I’m an old player, playing nearly daily since early 2019. I’m at a point where getting a brawler maxed to power 11 with all their gears and hypercharge becomes more exciting for than getting a new brawler. I do have over 60 maxed out brawlers, but those are the ones that I can play in ranked and get decent success with. Maxing out a brawler to me essentially unlocks them as a playable option. It’s ridiculous how they think there is no coin shortage, but to be fair im not actually in a club so I don’t get club rewards. The majority of players are and they also find it frustrating. I just hope supercell introduces the power point cap again.
But if you're a new player who just started, you'll only have a surplus of 60k coins (taking 300k as an average). Which means you can upgrade and extra 3.6 brawlers per year (taking the 1000 coins from mastery). Let's call it 4. There currently are 84 brawlers which means you'll be able to max out you account in just 21 years
LVL 11 was one of the reason of coin shortage, my account is full of lvl4/6 with rank 20 because before you didn't differ that much in power level, now it's mandatory for having lvl9 to realistically compete with all the shit coming thru, also the fact that new brawlers have mandatory lvl9 upgrades, without them being unplayable

42:30 the same issue exists in clash Royale. Everyone was so angry when lvl 15 got added, but what they don‘t realize is that a new level is necessary every once in a while, once too many people max their accounts, because else you‘ll have no goal. You‘re done with the game, and then you get bored. Sure you=re moving the finish line farther away, but ironically the adventure to the finish line is more exciting than reaching the finish line and being done, because then you realize that there is nothing after that, you‘re now alone, with a max deck, an nowhere to go.

I picked up the game for the first time in years (I think I dropped before level 10 was introduced or around the time of gears, for reference) bc of the SpongeBob event. I had almost all my characters at level 9 with almost all star powers and gadgets unlocked. Trying to get back into it feels almost impossible with the lack of coins needed for gears, gadgets, leveling up new brawlers, etc. I can’t imagine how overwhelming it must feel to people who are 100% new to the game.
The only reason why I have over 20k power points and only 7k gold is because those stupid starr drops keep giving me power points, it honestly feels like its a 90% chance for power points from them
It’s also important to point out that as of right now it feels like we can’t keep up because every two months we get 2 brawlers and 6 hypers. But once they get them all out we will only be getting 2 hypers or 1 hyper with every brawler every month. So it does feel hard to keep up but I think it’s because they are releasing more content than normal.
I play and spend really strategically in this game, prioritizing Brawlers based on mode, modifier, meta, and what suits them. I play daily, and I try to grind Masteries on the weekend. The issue I noticed since I first started playing in 2023 and has only gotten worse is how contextual a lot of progress is, which is an issue of most Supercell games. Basically, if you happen to be a long-time player or you join during an event, one or more of your resources will be drastically inflated compared to someone who plays at a different time. No joke, I got multiple Hypercharges and new Brawlers from the SpongeBob and Godzilla events, which put me probably several months ahead of my F2P account that didn't engage with them. On top of that, there is far too much RNG determining player progression, and no way to effectively transfer Power Points and XP "Doublers", which basically become a plaque that builds up in your account with no way to burn through it, unlike Coins, which can be burnt for more than 10k on just 1 Brawler. And if you're also like me, you probably got screwed over by constant cosmetic unlocks from drops.
Also, during this demonic and angelic star drop event, gold is much more likely to get than power points and the minimum you can get is 100 instead of 50. In other words, gold from these star drops is more than double the amount you get from regular star drops. Before that, the 12 free dead boxes we got earlier total up to somewhere around 5000 coins. Progression feels pretty good right now
Me personally for the "Power Point" shortage Brawl Stars add enchants for your brawlers like 100 pp for lvl 1 250 pp for lvl 2 500 pp for lvl 3 and tanks, assassins, etc will have a different pool of enchants as a example for a assassin you could do "Fire fists" for like 100 damage of fire each tick for 1 second but it stacks 50 each click so its not to OP but just to get rid of Power Points
I think it's really telling how on the roadmap the only allusion they made to the coin shortage was the power point inflation amd how they're thinking of adding another way to spend power points when that's not the issue, the issue is to spend power points in the first place you need twice as much gold
they mention new players that started this year with every change they make, but when it’s about progress suddenly they’re out of the picture? the game only gives enough coins to catch up to new releases and that is if you grind like a dog. anyone f2p that started this year would never be able to catch up to leveling up even a half of the brawlers after a few years considering they also mentioned there isn’t a cap to how many brawlers they’ll add. there’s nothing you can logically “strive for” in terms of your account and the game makes sure you know that. i’m still enjoying the game and would not quit over this as i ignore brawlers that aren’t fun but i feel that leaving this out of the conversation creates holes in the logic of things.

@@normalchannel2185 by grinding like a dog i meant farming masteries as they’re also one of the few ways you are able to make sure you can get the assets. also, getting everything would be the equivalent of obtaining brawlers (and skins). in games with leveling systems generally an account based goal would be to level up everything you obtain. since brawlers are very easy to obtain, i’m sure it’s deliberate by the dev team to monetize the leveling up part. which leaves no account based goals for f2p accounts. this would mean that they want the players to have more toys and push them to casual game goals. now that would be fair on their part, if playing with under leveled brawlers didn’t mean an instant defeat. for this they could take kairos’ suggestion where all brawlers will have levels based on the overall account level but no gadgets and star powers can be used. i’m not here to argue with you and i think i’ve explained my point clearly so i won’t be replying further
Really interesting ngl, especially the second part where you turn the eye to the human side which brings me to *MY OPINION* and thoghts about the matter in a bigger picture (being this right or wrong) I must admit that, personally, I'm in the side of kinda of lacking both resources I may have a bit more PP than coins but not the enough to be always safe. Tho I also must admit that it is easier to recover from them than coins. So it has got me thinking because, as you said, it is easier to complain rather than to come with a solution. For the moment the main thing that I may see as something that could help is a game mode that rotates but lets you get in with the character you want at level 11 with all the stuff you want, like the current "tournamets". But more frequent and not as a tournamet. That way you could go with the Brawler you want and try all the things you normally wouldn't cuz you can't spend the enough to try all the combinations. That way you could play with a character that you'd like to try but you have it at lvl 1 and normally would get totally owned by people with their Brawler at lvl 11. HOWEVER, I can see some problems that it could bring so that's why I was thinking of it as a limited game mode every day/week and if seemed necessary also limit the Brawlers people could pick, it doesn't give you rewards like exp, etc (the main idea is for you to play the character, no get anything out of it). That way you can play with a Brawler you just want to try/ play with that day and leave the leveling system to be able to play with the character anytime you want and at any game mode you decide, as well as ranked ( because not always there would be a game mode or map that the character you picked is good at).
I started the game about a month ago and the coin shortage is so real, pushing rank is hell cause you need 12 brawlers just to play diamond rank and above, not even accounting gears, star power, gadget and level 10-11 + hypercharge. Its so hard to get coins it feels like a paycheck whenever i get the 1k free coins in brawl pass

When a new feature (hypercharges) comes in which requires 5000x72 old brawlers = 360,000, I don't just need to have enough to upgrade the 12-13 new brawlers, but also the 72 old brawlers. I also don't have most of them maxed out. Your calculation says I will have enough to fully upgrade 2.8 extra brawlers every year. Let's say I have all 72 old brawlers at power 9 (already a stretch). So now, I can fully upgrade say 6 of these old brawlers every year. Now do you realize the problem? I need 12 full fucking years to catch up with this game!!! We also need to sometimes have more than 2 gears on many brawlers to make them optimal. The calcs are great, but the conclusion drawn may be just as bad as Supercell's. Limiting game progression is not the answer to player retention, good game fundamentals is. A new player should have visibility to max out the game in say 2-4 years. Even the sweatiest Kairos account after playing for 2 years has barely 50-60% of the upgrade progression (though he has 90% brawler progression which reinforces the fact that we unlock way more brawlers than we can upgrade) which to my mind is poor game design.
You do not NEED a maxed out account. The calculations done here are for the average player. Who does not maximize their bonus rewards. Who does not get masters every turn. Etc Plus he ignores a BIG chunk of progression, that is community events. Saying as someone who started playing just over a year ago(before dougs release but after willows) i have 9 HC maxed out brawlers, 5 levek 10s with max peripherals and 5 level 9s with 1G 1SP. That is MORE than enough for anyone. I like to play certain brawlers Why the fuck would i need to max out a brawler whom im never gonna play? Most players have a certain play style they prefer. Around 20 playable characters per year should be enough for 99% of people. EVEN for the pro players(1 their income would be higher since they would grind more) there is a good chunk of brawlers who just are never in the meta and a good chunk that are always in the meta. A fully maxed account is not needed in any way shape or form. Yes, maybe you wont be able to play the niche super best choice for one map one gamemode one time. Being able to max out a game in 2 years means being able to max 25% of it in 6 months. NOBODY would pay anything and monetization would plummet. With that goal, i would have achieved my current account in THREE months only. That is not enough time to develop any amount of skill. It would just lead to every person who joined a week earlier than the matchmaking pool's majority clowning on everyone with super sped up progression, and then getting stuck in higher levels since their skills have not developed. Exactly like what happens to midladder menaces in clash royale. And this is not healthy for the game, or for the gamer, considering that it leads to SHIT ton of frustration. And it forces the only solution as more OP new progression BS has one of the best monetization i have ever experienced Pleas tell me more about other f2p mobile games WITHOUT ads, that you can 100% in 2 years AND which still get monthly big gameplay updates
As for kairos's f2p series, he is aiming at MAXXING the account. Not fun. What he is doing is spreading out all his resources towards every brawler. If he pooled them togetherz he would have around 40-50 maxed brawlers. That is WAY more than enough choice for anyone really. Heck even i have some maxed brawlers i dont use. Ive never felt that i couldnt use a brawler just because it was underleveled( if i enjoyed it, i leveled it up.) MAYBE sometimes when new brawlers release and i like them and i don't have enough resources to upgrade them. But thats a temporary issue

I have all brawlers at 600 trophies. I keep jumping on to new brawlers every day, week, month. For me, that's the fun of the game. Otherwise what's the point of having 80+ brawlers if I'm only going to max and play 10 of them.
Coin shortage is one thing but fame irritates me far more. Not being able to stockpile credits in preparation for a new brawler combined with the fact that you have credits forcibly shoved down ur throat when they give no progression is the worst thing ever

It feels like there are a lot resources, enough to keep pace with new content, but unless I 100% spend all my coins and power points in the optimal way, I will definitely run out of coins first. But if you did that then there would be no reason to buy anything in the game and they wouldn’t make enough money also since you get more than enough you should be able to slowly try to get another brawler maxxed out
It would be more apealing to new and upcoming players as well as making the money you spent feel more valuable since the brawl pass would give even more progression. And for them to get more money they could make more cosmetics and types of them and with a bigger comunity even irl merchandise and collabs.

Kairos time gamings series was a perfect example of this, he specifically used club league to max out his power point cap and extort more coins. As soon as they changed the rewards to star drop and mega pigs, his progress dropped off significantly. The only reason he was able to get so many brawlers max, and why so many F2P players have them maxed, is because of the progress before star drops.

Been playing from 2019, f2p, not making a break for longer than a few days, at a time... Was buying every second brawl pass (when it was possible to get it with gems)... Now, got every brawler at power 11, all gadgets and star powers unlocked, but missing already around 25 hyper charges, which means I'm short at least 125k coins, which is insane. Got all the coins from masteries already, so no other way to increse the coin per day averages. Sucks and really, one of the most annoying aspect of the game, alongside retarded matchmaking.

Idk, maybe you are doing something wrong, or i am just lucky, but...
Playing since Global, F2P, uninstalled my game 3 or 4 times for about a month to have a break, bought only 3 brawl passes with gems (i spent a lot of gems on skins and now kinda regretting it because bling exists). Also bought one true gold and two true silver skins. Also also bought a hypercharge collector's pack for Piper with gems, and a mythic skin for her as well. Currently at 83/84 brawlers at lvl11 with both gadgets and star powers (still didn't unlock Kenji) 33/43 hypercharges, and most of my brawlers have 2 gears (every epic and mythic bought, 44 gears missing in total to have every brawler with 2 gears, even though some brawlers have 3 already). Additionally i have 18301 coins in my pocket waiting for Kenji and next update HCs, plus 49750 coins still locked behind mastery rewards (including Kenji). Which means if i unlocked and fully upgraded Kenji right now, collected all mastery rewards, and spent all coins on gears, i would have all brawlers upgraded to the maximum, 33/43 hypercharges and still have coins for one or even two more HCs, and on top of that, enough gems for 2 more HCs (still gonna spend these on skins or something else probably)
Upd: oh and just in case: i maxed my account once before somewhere around after they released Amber, by that i mean everyone at max lvl, 2 gadgets and 2 star powers. We had only 9 levels and no gears back then, but maybe you can compare with your progress and see if it was better or worse for you.

you know what, ima be honest i was one of those complaining about coin shortage, but now after watching your video i got to know that i just hate excessive power points, and getting pp from starrdrop feels more frustrating than exciting, and getting a pp based progression will surely make me excited about getting pp just as me getting coins (i understad it now, this video plus the skin-locked content kairos made made me realized this problem of mine, because kairos also said that he never got the excitement of getting skins so he made that series)
My solution: Buff the end-game trophy road coin rewards
it wouldnt affect early game players and make their shortage even worse, while still helping endgame players deal with their shortage
Look I don’t know how much this means coming from some random comment on RUclips, but genuinely great job on this video. It’s informative, well thought out, and addresses a lot of key issues outside of “no coins, me angry!” and why players feel the way they feel. My only hope is that this video gets shared around a ton as the whole community would benefit immensely from the knowledge which would promote productive discussions of the issue instead of the typical bad-faith arguments we see commonly. 10/10 and well done!

We do get enough coins
But we use them way faster (Everything costs coins if you want to upgrade a brawler. Level, gear, gadget, star power...)
We also do get enough PowerPoints
But we only use them to upgrade a brawlers level, and the starpoints required are WAY less than the amount of coins required
Also if you don't upgrade, that means you'll be weaker than the opponents, since even at low trophies people's levels are already absurd
This vid actually made me feel way worse about progression in the game. At 31:22 you can see that the total number of power points a F2P player can get in a year is 60825, and that the new content alone takes up 44880 of those. That means that the net power point gain every year for F2P players is only 15945.
To give a sense of how bad this actually is, let me use Kairos' F2P account as an example (which is almost 2 yrs old and basically hasn't missed any progression). On that account, he needs 164260 power points to get all 84 brawlers to power 11. With only 15945 net power points every year, it is going to take him MORE THAN 10 YEARS to upgrade every brawler to p11.
The worst part is that, as mentioned in the vid, the dev team seems to be planning to introduce some feature that costs even more power points on top of those alr required. So basically, it is impossible to max your account as a F2P, which is super disappointing.
In case anyone is curious, if Kairos were to buy the BP every month on his F2P account, the time would go from 10 yrs to 3.66 years, and with the BPP, the time would go to 2.61 years. This is obviously much more reasonable, but it still seems super long for someone who is consistently paying for the game.

I don't really want to max my account as a F2P, I don't think that is the goal of the Dev team. Hearing (and experiencing) that every year I can easily get 10 brawlers maxed is enough for me. I get to make the choice of which brawlers I enjoy and sink resources into.

Bronze 2 mastery for 12 brawlers a year is around 1500 pp and assuming the avg player gets like 15000 trophies a year (which I think is pretty reasonable), that's another 2400 pp a year. It would reduce the time from 10 yrs to 8.27, but realistically that's still not attainable. Even if you got up to silver 2 for 12 brawlers, the time only goes to 7.5 years.

Another thing that helps with the "Coin shortage", your role in the team / roles you like playing. I enjoy Marksmen and a few supports like Gene and Max, and am not a fan of most assassins or tanks. Early on I divided resources into everyone, but slowly picked out the brawlers I enjoyed playing, invested accordingly, and still have a decent buffer of coins.

I have played this game since year one, short before they added the brawl pass mechanic to the game (literally like a a week or two) i manage to fully max out my account as a free to play player, then i started to pay for the brawl pass and keep up my max account for a little while but then gears and power 11 appear. I tried since then to max up my account again i even buy the brawl pass plus and some offers now and then but i haven't max out my account, i also play almost daily, do all the brawl pass quest, play in a club for a max mega pig (didn't play in a club back in club league because it was so stressful and have a small club with just friends) but haven't manage to max out all my brawlers and its kind of frustrating at this point to be honest and i can't imagine how more frustrating this would be as a free to play player so i totally understand the coin shortage feeling.

Im surprised nobody ever mentions this. I think a big reason people why old players have so many power points is this:
Back when we had boxes as our normal progression, we had BRAWLER SPECIFIC POWERPOINTS. Once PowerPoints were not BRAWLER SPECIFIC, any BRAWLER SPECIFIC powerpoints would stay on the brawler as like leftover powerpoints that you already invested. I think i can speak for a lot of us that we didnt just try to max out the brawlers that existed during boxes first. We went for the new most broken released brawler until hypercharges were added. Then we went back to the old brawlers, had discounted powerpoint upgrades, but had to pay full price for getting power 10 and 11 (just 11 if you got that nany powerpoints on one brawler before they removed boxes) on top of paying for 10 and 11, you now had to spend 5k coins for a hypercharge. Ill give u an example, my squeak is power 9. I need power 10, 11, and his hypercharge, AND his gears. I only need 2 powerpoints to get him to power 10, then i pay the full price for power 11. But 2? 2?! Thats all i need for one of his upgrades. I think this is a pretty big reason not enough people talk about
As a Brawlstars player since January 2019, I never actually felt a coin shortage, probably because I have no "saving up" mentality. It's a shame that other players feel that they need way more coins. Finding this video is actually very interesting and helpful nonetheless, but I just spend my coins so it's not that I bother with coin stonks. Anyone else feel that way too, or is it just me?

The math class we didn’t know we needed
I’m an old player, playing nearly daily since early 2019. I’m at a point where getting a brawler maxed to power 11 with all their gears and hypercharge becomes more exciting for than getting a new brawler. I do have over 60 maxed out brawlers, but those are the ones that I can play in ranked and get decent success with. Maxing out a brawler to me essentially unlocks them as a playable option. It’s ridiculous how they think there is no coin shortage, but to be fair im not actually in a club so I don’t get club rewards. The majority of players are and they also find it frustrating. I just hope supercell introduces the power point cap again.
But if you're a new player who just started, you'll only have a surplus of 60k coins (taking 300k as an average). Which means you can upgrade and extra 3.6 brawlers per year (taking the 1000 coins from mastery). Let's call it 4. There currently are 84 brawlers which means you'll be able to max out you account in just 21 years

LVL 11 was one of the reason of coin shortage, my account is full of lvl4/6 with rank 20 because before you didn't differ that much in power level, now it's mandatory for having lvl9 to realistically compete with all the shit coming thru, also the fact that new brawlers have mandatory lvl9 upgrades, without them being unplayable

Everyone was so angry when lvl 15 got added, but what they don‘t realize is that a new level is necessary every once in a while, once too many people max their accounts, because else you‘ll have no goal. You‘re done with the game, and then you get bored. Sure you=re moving the finish line farther away, but ironically the adventure to the finish line is more exciting than reaching the finish line and being done, because then you realize that there is nothing after that, you‘re now alone, with a max deck, an nowhere to go.

I picked up the game for the first time in years (I think I dropped before level 10 was introduced or around the time of gears, for reference) bc of the SpongeBob event. I had almost all my characters at level 9 with almost all star powers and gadgets unlocked. Trying to get back into it feels almost impossible with the lack of coins needed for gears, gadgets, leveling up new brawlers, etc. I can’t imagine how overwhelming it must feel to people who are 100% new to the game.
The only reason why I have over 20k power points and only 7k gold is because those stupid starr drops keep giving me power points, it honestly feels like its a 90% chance for power points from them

It’s also important to point out that as of right now it feels like we can’t keep up because every two months we get 2 brawlers and 6 hypers. But once they get them all out we will only be getting 2 hypers or 1 hyper with every brawler every month.
So it does feel hard to keep up but I think it’s because they are releasing more content than normal.

I play and spend really strategically in this game, prioritizing Brawlers based on mode, modifier, meta, and what suits them. I play daily, and I try to grind Masteries on the weekend. The issue I noticed since I first started playing in 2023 and has only gotten worse is how contextual a lot of progress is, which is an issue of most Supercell games. Basically, if you happen to be a long-time player or you join during an event, one or more of your resources will be drastically inflated compared to someone who plays at a different time. No joke, I got multiple Hypercharges and new Brawlers from the SpongeBob and Godzilla events, which put me probably several months ahead of my F2P account that didn't engage with them. On top of that, there is far too much RNG determining player progression, and no way to effectively transfer Power Points and XP "Doublers", which basically become a plaque that builds up in your account with no way to burn through it, unlike Coins, which can be burnt for more than 10k on just 1 Brawler. And if you're also like me, you probably got screwed over by constant cosmetic unlocks from drops.

Also, during this demonic and angelic star drop event, gold is much more likely to get than power points and the minimum you can get is 100 instead of 50. In other words, gold from these star drops is more than double the amount you get from regular star drops. Before that, the 12 free dead boxes we got earlier total up to somewhere around 5000 coins. Progression feels pretty good right now

Me personally for the "Power Point" shortage Brawl Stars add enchants for your brawlers like 100 pp for lvl 1 250 pp for lvl 2 500 pp for lvl 3 and tanks, assassins, etc will have a different pool of enchants as a example for a assassin you could do "Fire fists" for like 100 damage of fire each tick for 1 second but it stacks 50 each click so its not to OP but just to get rid of Power Points

they mention new players that started this year with every change they make, but when it’s about progress suddenly they’re out of the picture? the game only gives enough coins to catch up to new releases and that is if you grind like a dog. anyone f2p that started this year would never be able to catch up to leveling up even a half of the brawlers after a few years considering they also mentioned there isn’t a cap to how many brawlers they’ll add. there’s nothing you can logically “strive for” in terms of your account and the game makes sure you know that.
i’m still enjoying the game and would not quit over this as i ignore brawlers that aren’t fun but i feel that leaving this out of the conversation creates holes in the logic of things.

@@normalchannel2185 by grinding like a dog i meant farming masteries as they’re also one of the few ways you are able to make sure you can get the assets. also, getting everything would be the equivalent of obtaining brawlers (and skins). in games with leveling systems generally an account based goal would be to level up everything you obtain. since brawlers are very easy to obtain, i’m sure it’s deliberate by the dev team to monetize the leveling up part. which leaves no account based goals for f2p accounts. this would mean that they want the players to have more toys and push them to casual game goals. now that would be fair on their part, if playing with under leveled brawlers didn’t mean an instant defeat. for this they could take kairos’ suggestion where all brawlers will have levels based on the overall account level but no gadgets and star powers can be used.

Really interesting ngl, especially the second part where you turn the eye to the human side which brings me to *MY OPINION* and thoghts about the matter in a bigger picture (being this right or wrong)
I must admit that, personally, I'm in the side of kinda of lacking both resources I may have a bit more PP than coins but not the enough to be always safe. Tho I also must admit that it is easier to recover from them than coins.
So it has got me thinking because, as you said, it is easier to complain rather than to come with a solution. For the moment the main thing that I may see as something that could help is a game mode that rotates but lets you get in with the character you want at level 11 with all the stuff you want, like the current "tournamets".
But more frequent and not as a tournamet. That way you could go with the Brawler you want and try all the things you normally wouldn't cuz you can't spend the enough to try all the combinations. That way you could play with a character that you'd like to try but you have it at lvl 1 and normally would get totally owned by people with their Brawler at lvl 11.
HOWEVER, I can see some problems that it could bring so that's why I was thinking of it as a limited game mode every day/week and if seemed necessary also limit the Brawlers people could pick, it doesn't give you rewards like exp, etc (the main idea is for you to play the character, no get anything out of it). That way you can play with a Brawler you just want to try/ play with that day and leave the leveling system to be able to play with the character anytime you want and at any game mode you decide, as well as ranked ( because not always there would be a game mode or map that the character you picked is good at).

I started the game about a month ago and the coin shortage is so real, pushing rank is hell cause you need 12 brawlers just to play diamond rank and above, not even accounting gears, star power, gadget and level 10-11 + hypercharge. Its so hard to get coins it feels like a paycheck whenever i get the 1k free coins in brawl pass

When a new feature (hypercharges) comes in which requires 5000x72 old brawlers = 360,000, I don't just need to have enough to upgrade the 12-13 new brawlers, but also the 72 old brawlers. I also don't have most of them maxed out.
Your calculation says I will have enough to fully upgrade 2.8 extra brawlers every year. Let's say I have all 72 old brawlers at power 9 (already a stretch). So now, I can fully upgrade say 6 of these old brawlers every year.
Now do you realize the problem?

The calcs are great, but the conclusion drawn may be just as bad as Supercell's.
Limiting game progression is not the answer to player retention, good game fundamentals is.
A new player should have visibility to max out the game in say 2-4 years.
Even the sweatiest Kairos account after playing for 2 years has barely 50-60% of the upgrade progression (though he has 90% brawler progression which reinforces the fact that we unlock way more brawlers than we can upgrade) which to my mind is poor game design.
You do not NEED a maxed out account.
The calculations done here are for the average player. Who does not maximize their bonus rewards. Who does not get masters every turn. Etc
Plus he ignores a BIG chunk of progression, that is community events. Saying as someone who started playing just over a year ago(before dougs release but after willows) i have 9 HC maxed out brawlers, 5 levek 10s with max peripherals and 5 level 9s with 1G 1SP. That is MORE than enough for anyone. I like to play certain brawlers
Why the fuck would i need to max out a brawler whom im never gonna play? Most players have a certain play style they prefer. Around 20 playable characters per year should be enough for 99% of people.
EVEN for the pro players(1 their income would be higher since they would grind more) there is a good chunk of brawlers who just are never in the meta and a good chunk that are always in the meta. A fully maxed account is not needed in any way shape or form.
Yes, maybe you wont be able to play the niche super best choice for one map one gamemode one time.
Being able to max out a game in 2 years means being able to max 25% of it in 6 months. NOBODY would pay anything and monetization would plummet. With that goal, i would have achieved my current account in THREE months only.
That is not enough time to develop any amount of skill. It would just lead to every person who joined a week earlier than the matchmaking pool's majority clowning on everyone with super sped up progression, and then getting stuck in higher levels since their skills have not developed.

And this is not healthy for the game, or for the gamer, considering that it leads to SHIT ton of frustration. And it forces the only solution as more OP new progression

What he is doing is spreading out all his resources towards every brawler. If he pooled them togetherz he would have around 40-50 maxed brawlers.
That is WAY more than enough choice for anyone really.
Heck even i have some maxed brawlers i dont use. Ive never felt that i couldnt use a brawler just because it was underleveled( if i enjoyed it, i leveled it up.) MAYBE sometimes when new brawlers release and i like them and i don't have enough resources to upgrade them. But thats a temporary issue

I have all brawlers at 600 trophies. I keep jumping on to new brawlers every day, week, month. For me, that's the fun of the game. Otherwise what's the point of having 80+ brawlers if I'm only going to max and play 10 of them.

Coin shortage is one thing but fame irritates me far more. Not being able to stockpile credits in preparation for a new brawler combined with the fact that you have credits forcibly shoved down ur throat when they give no progression is the worst thing ever
The problem is that many times a brawler needs more than 2 gears, 1 gadget, and 2 star powers, so the cost would be much greater in reality

So many brawlers only need 1/1/2 of gadget sp and gears

It feels like there are a lot resources, enough to keep pace with new content, but unless I 100% spend all my coins and power points in the optimal way, I will definitely run out of coins first. I like to buy 3-4 gears per brawler, that instantly put me at a huge risk of coin shortage.

They should give us enough coins for AT LEAST 3 maxed out brawlers per month, even if that means a little more grinding
But if you did that then there would be no reason to buy anything in the game and they wouldn’t make enough money also since you get more than enough you should be able to slowly try to get another brawler maxxed out
It would be more apealing to new and upcoming players as well as making the money you spent feel more valuable since the brawl pass would give even more progression. And for them to get more money they could make more cosmetics and types of them and with a bigger comunity even irl merchandise and collabs.
My free to play friend has an account 100% maxed so i don't think they should
