I am a senior with an old Kenwood stereo. Your video gave me the courage to take the CD player apart. It didn't have a drive belt that I could see, but by fiddling with the gear controlling the sliding tray, I was able to get it working. Then I took apart the tape player and also fixed a door that wouldn't open. Now I have a house full of music again. Thanks so much for your very clear video. I wouldn't have tried to fix the stereo without your help.
Glad to hear the music is playing again! I have an old Pioneer SX-450 amplifier (late 1970s) that we still use -- with a CD player and an iPod!
Thank you for putting this VIDEO out. Saves me from getting the hammer from the shed..
lol
😂😂😂😂
I open it with my hand to make it move
Very informative, and you have a calming voice. Thanks for the video 🤗
Fantastic, fixed my kids DVD player. Excellent. I didn't actually need to replace the drive belt. It had a bit of paper in it. Once freed by moving the gear the problem was solved.
Very well explained and shown. I went through the procedure this morning, after I accidentally dislodged the tray from the belt drive the night before. Took about an hour and a half for non-mechanically inclined me, almost all of which was disassembly and reassembly. Thank you for saving me a repair or purchase expense!
It worked!!! Thank you so much! It only cost about 75 cents for the O ring, and my boyfriend was able to fix it quickly.
Awesome! Thank you! I used a rubber band to replace a broken belt. Your tutorial saved the day!
A rubber band can work, but it might not last as long as a rubber O-ring. Im glad the video helped!
Most helpful video ever! Took me less than hour including the trip to the hardware store.
Thanks, Stan. You saved me $$$. The "O" ring cost me 40 cents. That's all that was wrong.
Oh my gosh ! You are the best !!!! I had been searching the net for about an hour and trying all the things they advised...none worked. I found you and unplugged it for a few minutes as suggested...and VOILA ! THANKS !!!
great tutorial! there was a "rubber band" loose from the "wheel" that open and closes the door!! saved me a headache and argument! !blessings from Oakland, CA
Geralina Danae u fix your own stuff thats cool too..
Thank you so much. I just went and unplugged my DVR and re-plugged it and the stuck tray opened!!!! I'm so happy!!!
This is so well explained! Thanks for posting.
This is an amazing tutorial, incredibly clear without being overly long. Thanks so much for a great video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your kind words.
@@doityourselfstan Also my dvd player has been working great for about a month now thanks to you. :) Have a great day.
Excellent! Thank you so much! I watched your video and within 10 minutes I had mine fixed. Found a rubber band that was the exact size I needed and it worked perfectly! Now if I could only figure out how to fix my amplifier!
Thank you for the great and detailed tutorial! I just temporarily fixed my Toshiba without even replacing the stretched out belt. When it stops working again, I will have a couple of rubber rings ready.
Thanks a bunch for this video. Saved me a huge head ache. You are a good man, sir.
Good audio, excellent video, and superb narration!
Thank you so much . 30cents for an O ring and it’s fixed - my daughter is very happy.
Fast forward to this day, this video helped save our videoke player, to the despair of our neighbors. Thank you.
Glad the video was helpful! Thank you!
Love the O-ring trick.
Thanks! Found my broken belt with your help!
I fixed the issue in my DVD as above, thanks for the video
You explained that very well.Thank you my friend.
Great video, man!
Great video. Thanks!
Great video! Very useful! Thanks so much.
Thank you Stan, this vid was very helpful. You are a classic! Nicely done! *******applause*******
Excellent demonstration!
Simple and concise explanation. I fixed my Marantz CD 63!
Awesome! Thank you for watching!
Hi, just had to fix my Toshiba DVD player which was knackered. This video was a great help, turned out, somehow a support plate had become unhooked, took it apart, re-fitted the plate, air cleaned/vac'd the unit, re-assembled and hey presto, I can now watch Dad's army on DVD, either that or Mad Max etc etc, cheers and have beer on me.
good thing you put the warning up.some not so smart people would electrocute themselves
Great video, but the penetration oil may attack some plastics. I would recommend a light film of silicone grease instead.
lol i got a kick out the 'penetrating' part - Maybe plastic does. But, Just read Ceramic grease is very good to use.
Mine looked like your drive belt. It might need to be a tad tighter. Who knows. It seemed it was perfectly fine but most likely it wasn't due to the motor that pushes the eject door out was not budging. I will try and put a new O ring instead. It's already 21 years old. I also oiled the tray guide carefully. I will do this again with a new O ring. 😉👍
Great tutorial!.. Clear and concise...Thank you..
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching.
Thank you so much for your help!
My player had an extra upper bracket inside, which I had to remove to gain better access.
In my case the belt was off but still in proper condition, so I just reattached it and it works!
Mine is a little newer and I had to remove the entire tray to access the belt, but I got it in the end! Thanks a bunch- you just saved me $75!
Thank you! The manual turning of the gears was what I needed to do to get the dvd out. The belt was fine, and the DVD player works now!
The only difference is (so far) I haven't been able to find a THIN "O" ring, so I used a standard issue, office supply RUBBER BAND that was slightly smaller than the original drive belt--this is just a temp fix 'til I find the right size "O" ring. Hard to believe such a tiny item can cause this issue, but I HAD to attempt this because the product I am dealing with is a Sony® CDR-W33 recorder I bought new in 2000 for $599.00! No way I was gonna scrap it without trying this. And DO NOT force the door open--open it as shown in this video!!
I just fixed it thanks to this guy👌👌
Thanks, this helped to fix my VCR, which the DVD tray was stuck. Thanks again.
I fixed my dvd player with your video Thanks!
Worked for me! Thank you!
I'll remember this tip for future reference, great video btw.
Thanks so much! Will give this a try!
Great Video This worked great and fixed my player Thanks
Great idea on the o-ring!!
Thank you Stan! I replaced the broken drive belt just like you said. Cost me 89 cents. Works like a charm!
Hi where did you get this belt from and what their prices are?
@@mohhos69 I got an O ring from my local hardware store just like he recommended in the video. Cheap!
Very helpful, worked!
After viewing your video I opened up my player and looked around. The drive belt seemed ok, so I cleaned off the dust and oiled where you said. I made the tray go I and out a few times and then it was ok. I think something under the tray was catching and it got free. Anyway, it’s working fine now. Thanks !
Where'd you get the oil, and what is it called?
it worked perfectly - thank you!
Awesome info!!!!!! Thanks so much, was going to throw in trash until I saw your video!!!!
Great tutorial, this fixed my Magnavox "Funai" DVD Player, also I'm not sure if it's just me but your voice makes me think of Garfield for some reason, not sure why?
Meow! Meow! (Translation: Glad the video was helpful!)
Very helpful I may add.
Funai made the Magnavox DVD player. Funai isn't the model.
I kept getting 😠 at our Sony Blu-ray player multiple times and thought if I broke it on purpose. It wasn't my fault, but I got my dad to give me a ✋🏻 with it. No need to take it apart at all. It happened yesterday in July 2020 and September 2019 if my memory serves me correctly that I was in the middle of some episode of The Simpsons Season 2️⃣ and The Simpsons Season 15. Each of the discs had errors with the connection. It wasn't easy to be calm at all before rebooting the device carefully and safely. Good job with the 📀 player repair. 🌈👏🏻
my sons dvd/vcr player had a disc that kept spinning and wouldn't eject. Unplugging the machine and plugging it back in worked on the Presidian Dvd/vcr player. Thank you!
Legend! I used this to fix an LG Micro system! It had me flummoxed as I didn’t know where to find the belt- my one didn’t even need replacing just loosening from stuck position
Awesome! Glad this helped!
Thanks, very helpful,
Thanks for the extra info! A lot of this is common sense, but I DEFINITELY learned some new tricks and tips from you! I appreciate it! A+++
Thank you for your kind words!
did an exact same fix on my dvd player yesterday before watching your video. nice demo bro!
Thank you! I'm glad the video was helpful!
Just removed the belt, cleaned it and again fixed it..it worked..thanks
Instead of replacing the belt you can also boil it will have the same shape as before and will work as well as new
Thanks! Did the trick!
Thank you!! It worked!
I searched for, and watched this vid on google, but I thought I must come here and say thank you for making and posting. I have a Philips BT2570 micro stereo, and the cd door opens intermittently. I was thinking of taking it to be repaired, but I think I will tackle this myself. Hope you’re well. It’s been five years since you posted this video, but you’re still helping us! Thanks again. Ps. I just subscribed to your channel, hence the ‘edit’
Thank you so much! Yes, I am still here.
doityourselfstan good to hear. Bless
Excellent informative video.
👌👌👌👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for sharing.
I used a rubber band and it worked. Thanks!
Thank you very much Sir. I was able to fix mine with rubber O-ring.
Thanks I needed that
Great Job buddy.
O Ring from Hardware or plumbing store. Brilliant, I was looking on Amazon for replacement parts.😀
Super useful! Helped me fix my old Tascam CD A-700!
Great to hear! We've gotten a couple of old DVD players up and running again.
Thanks! You're awesome.
Thank you
many thanks from germany!!! it worked!
Sie sind herzlich willkommen!
THANK YOU!!YOU SAVED MY ASS FROM GETTING BEAT BY MY FATHER!
Thank you so much 👌
Nice! Exactly what happened to mine, belt was torn
Thank you for information
Thanks, this video helped
Thank you so much, I just fixed my DVD player today, it cost me NTD50 only .
Thank you so much!!! I had this issue and after following your video I found the o-ring seemed okay so I just readjusted it and added some lubricant and it works!!!
Awesome!
O rings at the hardware store ..... I would have never thought of that one.
Which oil/grease did you use to lubricate the tray and gears? I had chainsaw grease, but I just wanna make sure because my Sanyo BluRay player isn’t ejecting and I’m still in the process of fixing it.
If you can't get at the gears with a screwdriver use a thin lollypop stick. All you need is a gentle twitch to the right so the tray unlocks, then you can pull it out gently to get at the belt drive.
Thank you very much
so can you basically use any rubber grader to replace the one that is inside originally? (In the video the instruction is to use the ones used to repair leaky tap)
Thanks broh your awaome KILLER!
Fixed a Zenith DVB312 although it only needed a readjustment of the belt.
Thanks man!
Fixed my karaoke player using your video. The belt broke and I ended up buying an o-ring for 99 cents. Thank you!
Great, thank you very much. I fixed my problem with my Phillips DVD. I used #30 O-ring from Home Depot, 10 pieces for $2.50, size: 7/8" O.D. x 3/4" I.D. x 1/16". It was little smaller so I had to stretch it for couple of minutes (just with my fingers). It works now like a champ.
Awesome!
Thanks for a great video.
My tray won't open with the remote OR the button. The button seems quite loose and jiggly. I guess I'll try opening the case in the hope I can make it open with the remote. But any suggestions will be very gratefully accepted.
thank you its work again
Thank you.
Thank you!! Bought a used dvd player, the drawer wasn't opening. We used two little girls hair bands instead. It works!
Wow Ive been leaving a blank dvd/cd in my tray so when i pushed button - drawer would open. and then if i forgot- id have to use the paper clip! i watched your video- went to garage- sprayed dressing n q tip- did your recommendations and OMG it works! THANK YOU!
Awesome! Thank you for watching!
It worked! thanks...
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you!!! :)
Can it be a possibility that the motor may go out too for the tray? If it is where would I purchase a new one for my Apex DVD player? I feel that just putting on the new O ring will not solve it for me. It's like my motor is sticking.
