You guys summed up Red Velvet as “chill”, but that’s bc you guys reacted to mostly their “Velvet” songs.
They’re name Red Velvet is representative of their group’s concept: releasing “Red Songs” (hype, bubbly, pop summer bops) and “Velvet Songs” (R&B, trap, chill, and sometimes slower bops).
This concept is why some may describe Red Velvet as the perfect mix between Twice and BlackPink’s concepts.

I love One of These Nights - I have to imagine its a difficult song to sing because its so emotional, and the mv s a definite change from most Kpop mvs. I know there is some debate as to whether its remembering the Sewol Ferry victims (that's how I choose to interpret it), but it's definitely a very moving song and mv

To make it easier to understand their name, RED is for upbeat, bright,quirky concept/ genres. VELVET is for dark, ballad, RnB style for concept and genre. Twice owns cute( but not cheesy) (cough they do very similar songs in the same position all the time cough ). Blackpink own girl crush and raps (cough really bad at putting out music consistently, same rolls and sound cough). Red velvet, monster Vocal, consistent releases, no visual holes and insane work on choreography. (I actually have complete respect for their group and the effort they put into making music.)

Blackpink are a combination of all 3 and have really cool (whistle, bby, pwf) and hard dances around 2016 when they're rookies to show their power and then 2017/2018/2019 their dances just become viral for their point moves! Their choreo is on par with Twice imo, its just they have less members and unique dance styles so they dont prioritize synchronity. Blackpink have about 16 songs in their discography in 3 years which STARVES the fans but theirs inner agency turmoil going on so we just gotta push through it!
SM has a lot of great groups...
TVXQ, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, f(x), EXO, Red Velvet and NCT.
They all have great music, but my favorites musically are RV, f(x), SHINee and EXO.

With artist like BoA (soloist), TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, Fx, and NCT they are very well known in south korea and internationally. Hope you guys can react to all of them sometimes.

For other SM artists please do Girls Generation. The biggest legends and the most influencial kpop girl group out there. I definitely recommend their songs Into the new world, I got a boy, Mr Mr and You Think as they give different sides to the group.

I don't know how to explain it... I do agree that on the scale they are between Blackpink and Twice, cause RV has an aura, that's neither cute or badass... It unique to them... When they do cute songs, they have that class about them... Like their dances are in weird angles, snappy, crude, thrusty... Yet elegant, efficient and it fits... It suits them..

Technically saying she "just studied" in Canada is a really big understatement, she was born in SK but moved to Canada when she was only 10, so basically grew up almost entirely in Canada and briefly studied in the U.S before returning to Canada again, where she auditioned in BC and became an idol. She now still has a house in BC that Irene wants to really badly visit. (see "irene obsessed with visiting Wendys house in Canada" its sooo cute) so shes more Canadian than SK or American. That's why her english is pretty much perfect, and always speaks english with Henry from SJ who is from Toronto.
