For those of you when you restart your pc and it turns back on, go to where you turn on real time protection and scroll down a little and turn off Tamper Protection. Change the registry again and it will stay disabled.
There are tutorials explaining how to make it work on 10/11 Home systems, just search through youtube. One tutorial suggests adding group policy editor, there are some other ways too.
On Widows 10 at least, you need to disable Tamper Protection in Windows Security before disabling Defender Antivirus. Otherwise Tamper Protection will override and negate the Group Policy setting. Not sure about Win11 though...
You're spot on! I wanted to keep tamper protection on with real-time protection off but you can't do that. As soon as I turned off tamper protection it disable real time as well!
I have a problem, mine just keeps deleting that file after like a day or two, and then im having to do these steps all over again, can you explain what i need to do

Every time I disable windows defender from policy, it goes back to not configured
edit group policy isn't dhowing up on the windows
your Windows must be Windows Pro/Enterprise.
