      HI, Arijit.
To secure a call from the Common Admission Process (CAP) participating IIMs, you should aim for a minimum percentile of around 95+. As an EWS candidate with a strong academic background and relevant work experience, this percentile should make you competitive for CAP calls. However, targeting a higher percentile (97+) will improve your chances significantly and give you an edge in the admissions process.

      Hi, Vishal
Your 10th and 12th grades are average, and your graduation CGPA is decent. 19 months of work experience adds value to your profile and shows you have some industry exposure. Your volunteer work and internships add a good dimension to your profile. Being an OBC candidate provides you with an advantage due to relaxed cutoffs. Since this is your second attempt and you previously scored 85%ile, you have a better understanding of the exam and can aim higher this time. To be on the safer side and to increase your chances of getting calls from top IIMs, you should aim for a CAT percentile of 96-97 or above.

You didn't add any work experience, so considering you are a fresher, you need to score 99.5+ to get a call from FMS. While specific placement percentages can vary year to year and between different IIMs, these institutions generally strive to maintain high placement rates for their graduates. It's advisable to check the placement reports of the specific IIMs you are interested in to get a clearer understanding of their placement track record and industry connections. This research will help you determine if they align with your career goals and aspirations.

Having a gap due to UPSC preparation should not significantly impact your MBA admission chances if you can justify it effectively. Admissions committees understand that candidates may take time off for competitive exams like UPSC, especially if it aligns with your career aspirations.
Clearly explain in your application why you chose to take the UPSC path and how it aligns with your long-term goals. Highlight any achievements or skills gained during this period that are relevant to your MBA goals. Given your goal to excel in CAT and XAT 2024, focus on maximizing your preparation during this time. Aim for a high percentile to offset any concerns about your gap years.

Your academic scores alone may not determine your entry into an FMCG company. FMCG companies typically consider a variety of factors including skills, experience (if any), and suitability for the role you are applying for. While your scores are a part of your profile, focusing on gaining relevant skills, experience, and preparing well for interviews will enhance your chances of securing a position in an FMCG company.
