@pipingmarine True! Although, on our Fat Albert ride this past weekend at the Indianapolis Airshow (video coming soon!) there was a Navy guy filling in for one of the Marine crew members, who hurt his ankle coming down from the zero G float. Semper Fi!
@TheWwefan152 Unfortunately no, the JATO has been retired after a hurricane flooded the hangar where the JATO bottles were stored at NAS Pensacola. Most of them were ruined and the few that weren't were used selectively until they ran out. Since the bottles are no longer in production, we may never see a JATO again!
Both Fat Albert and the whole Blue Angels team is made up of Active Duty Marine And Navy. The thing is that Navy has the logos on the FA/18's and the Marines has it on C-130 Fat Albert.
I did NOT enjoy this video at all, and was very disappointed! Yeah, surely, the pilot is a badass, but could you hear any conversation? No. Could you see much of anything? No. Was the sound a very annoying bassy buzzing, throbbing, drone throughout the entire thing? Yes. Damn, I was really excited when I started this one, and was let down. I know that a C-130 isn't nearly as refined as an A 380, but.....well, forgive me. I guess I'm being a nitpicker.
Was at this airshow..seems like forever ago! Great vid cant wait to see more of the great stuff you guys put on here!

@VStm
thanks, vary informative
hi,
i'd like to know wht C-130 bank angle limit? from the sound, perhaps those propellers at mil power i presume.
vrai good
@AirsnowStuffVideos JATO?
Yes. The Men's Department. ;)
"Fat Albert" is a Marine Corps aircraft, crewed by Marines, NOT Navy personnel.
awww that stinks. i got to see it twice. very cool
I want those headsets
Exactly my point up there. Or hear anything.
@ahrimanes aren't the blue angels Navy.
"Belong"? Pretty poor choice of words, lad. The Corps is a department of the Navy. The men's department.
I thought they retired JATO because it cost too much. I heard the JATO rocket fuel was crazy expensive, and the DOD wouldn't pay for it anymore.
You can't see anything.
What's with all that yelling and shouting in the background in the first few minutes?
