    First thing I do at an airshow is find where the PA speaks are and get as far away from them as possible! 🤨

      I was at an airshow where they had the WW2 Australian made boomerang fighter. Which would make this loud whistling sound when diving. And when the pilot was doing a dive to demonstrate the noise, The idiot on the PA wouldn't stfu, kept on rambling on about how the noise made and how awesome it sounds. I remember thinking "well stfu, so we can hear it"

    I had a little plastic model of this that Lockheed gave out to kids at the the introductory of the C-130. Lost it over the years. The let people board the aircraft and gave a tour . I was only 6 years old , but remember it like it was yesterday. Incredible plane !

    C-130 can land in 1500 ft, sure, but so can a C-17, and it's almost three times the size!! I got to see one do that operationally, once. :) The preferred exit taxiway was blocked by an aircraft waiting to take off, so the tower offered the pilot the option of the first infield taxiway, or to taxi all the way to the end of the 11,324 ft runway. The pilot chose the first taxiway option. :D What a sight!! That same aircraft did a short takeoff with steep climbout when it left, just to keep showing off. :)

    Awesome!! I bet those maintenance guys can change the brake linings and tires in their sleep. Because to do this demo 2 3 times at each air show you know they burn them up rapidly.. you can see the black brake dust and tire smoke blasting off those wheels when she comes to a stop..

    As an airframe, the Hercules is a fossil, outdated. I flew the A model in the Air Force in two versions: aerial photography and survey and the attack version in Vietnam. However, this outdated workhorse has been updated, upgraded, and configured in so many ways that to design a replacement would be extremely difficult if not extremely expensive. It’s slow, it has propellers, it’s noisy, it’s expensive to run but OMG, it does everything so well! The Hercules will be around forever!!

    • @joebledsoe257
      @joebledsoe257 4 года назад +1

      None of the parts of the latest model will interchange with the A version. TANG Memphis flew the B models for a long time. A friend a ground maintenance guy told me that they had to make by hand many of the parts that they needed to keep them flying and would make some for other stations also.

      You clearly know nothing of the J version, which is the most capable aircraft in its class in the entire world. The J has 6-bladed props, a crew of just 3 (2 pilots and 1 loadmaster), can take up to 128 passengers or 92 paratroops, has a 41’ length cargo bay, has a main payload of up to 44,000lbs, an MTOW of 164,000lbs, a cruise speed of 348kn and a range of 1,800nmi at max payload.
      The only thing the J has in common with the A-T models is the overall shape. Otherwise it’s all-new.

    WOW. They put one of those ace fighter pilots IN THAT C-130!! That is a semi doing stunts normally only - a Maserati can do! No I don't know much about airplanes or cars, but dang! You don't have to know much to know you cant land a huge transport plane on an aircraft carrier! (But they say that one does!) Anyone remember the airlift to West Berlin done during the cold war? It would have been a LOT easier with a few of these! Fat Albert was worthy of a show all her own, thank you for sharing.

      It costs too much to build & maintain. At the very minimum, you'd need to add an extra turbo-gearbox and propeller set to the design, which means doubling up on relevant spare parts reserves & supply line transport around the world. Apparently the flight performance benefits don't outweigh this burden.

    No, I would *not* want to be on that aircraft during one of those types of take offs.
    He put the wheels up to reduce drag, not because the aircraft had reached enough velocity to climb and he was betting on the reduced drag.
    Then when he finally reached just barely enough velocity to climb he did it really steep to where the aircraft stalled and started to fall, so he was betting on it gaining velocity from falling to pull the nose up just enough without crashing.
    Sorry, my balls are *not* that big.
