Spent a bit of time in Norway, had a girlfriend from there who had a lovely farm just south of Oslo. I'm not that short, but felt like a midget there. If I remember right, they are the biggest coffee drinking in the world.... always a table flask of brewed coffee on the coffee table. Nice people, mostly. I got the impression the difference between them and the Swedish is very much like the difference between the Welsh and the English.... the Swedish being a bit more aloof and snooty, the people from Norway being a bit more friendly and up for a laugh. Enjoyed my time there, absolutely stunning country.
Nice video Ash, it looks really nice - totally different from the stuff we were given when I was in the British army. I might well buy some to eat at home !!
I second that. In the barracks I served in there were also Canadian soldiers, so we got CANADIAN MREs as well. They combine the best of both worlds, the French and the English cuisine, this is particulary noticeable at breakfast. And the variety of food is amazing! There are three packages: breakfast, lunch and supper. And poutine is a speciality - I enjoyed it, but it wasn't that popular with British soldiers as they did not know it.
Earlier types of Norwgian RSPs (Field Meals) with canned meat had the nickname "Dead Man on Box", very likely named so because of how it looked. They lasted for decades, and have been both tested and eaten with dates back to atleast the 90s... Coffee is of course standard in any Norwegian meals with some self respect. Instead of beef jerkey, dried and salted sausages is pretty common to eat in Norway. I don't know about other countries, but this type of field ration or similar civilian rations are common in Norway for hiking and camping.
Good Morning Ash, Chaps Playing catch-up on Chaps Guide content 🤯 Having just returned from 2 weeks in green (thankfully on "fresh" for most of it), a clear and full review of Norwegian rations. Looks like a decent "Patrol Ration" as opposed to a full 24hr pack. I rue the absence of Beef Jerky in UK rations, it was always a welcome snack. 😢 The need to reconstitute the meal removes the ability to eat cold if time/ tactical situation prevents cooking. In the UK Patrol ration you have a flameless ration heater, which requires a small amount of water to activate. The meal though is edible cold or hot. I see other nations' rations for sale at many shows I attend, I may get a couple to compare for myself. *salute
Mountain House used to have entrees like that. The typical MH was a "2 person" entree in a loose bag; but for a while they came out with their Pro-Paks which were in a smaller bag but included more like 1 1/2 entree to provide more calories and protein, and that bag was vacuumed hard just like your entree. I got tired of the Canadian IMPs but still have two from 2019 sitting on a shelf.
I’ve never tried Norwegian rations. As a US Marine stationed in London in the mid-90’s, and regularly doing field exercises in Wales, Devon, and Scotland….I remember the British, French, and German rations all being decidedly superior to US MRE’s. We trained with the Dutch Royal Marines as well, but we never got to try Dutch rations. They were issued UK rations. I really thought UK rations were especially good. You squaddies and RM’s may disagree, but that just means you haven’t eaten enough US MRE’s. The only issue I had with them is that they came as a 24-hr ration in a cardboard box. In that regard (and only that regard) I thought the US one bag, one meal setup was better.
I really enjoy the military food pack videos you had made suggestion you try the Singapore SAF military ration pack Singapore is also one f the rich countries in the world
I love how you make such a wide interesting variety of videos. This one was just completely out of leftfield and unexpected.
Glad you like them!

I'm so glad you returned to these, sir.
You should try a Canadian one. Something like Poutine. I think you'd enjoy it.

Thanks Ash. Fun to watch. I'm in Canada so a Canadian Armed Forces pack would be interesting to see, for me at least. All the best.
Conscript here. I ate this one quite a few times during the year I was in. Loved it. Good video, though I was perhaps not the target audience :D

Hello Ash! Have you considered using a Woodlore bushcraft knife?
I believe that knife would fit you well. :)
Great. Always enjoy your MRE reviews. Sounds like a really nice meal.

Great video. Would you please list the exact ration pack you purchased and used in your video. Thank you.
Can you make a video contrasting Fashion vs. Elegance and attractive to sight ...regardless the gender
Allrighty! Just wondering when you´d launch your next MRE episode. (And REAL dried meal. No surprises there)
The smile is evidence that Ash is aware of how Ashlings look forward to his salute!

One of these videos was my first exposure to this channel. Was at oak lodge, you still have that space as well? Haven’t seen in a while
