Not to knock him cause I think this is a great channel BUT his willingness to smash up his expensive equipment is what pays the bills,it's the reason he has 1.4 million subscribers that earn him a bundle in ad revenue. It's like a business expense,he buys the equipment then films smashing and hard-core bashing which over a million of us want to watch and this generates him a lot more in advertising revenue than he initially spends on the equipment. Then a lot of it is still usable which gives him a MASSIVE collection that has a lot of re sale value .
Anyway good luck to him,it's a great channel that instructs,educates and entertains us and Kev's the man who got me back into rc after a 30 odd year break

Kev, I love your channel, but this was a terrible review of one of the true classic Traxxas cars, you didn't even show it on 3s which is it's maximum safe voltage. It's a great car deserves a more thorough review. It seemed half of this review was advertising..

Got one of these for my son as his first real hobby grade RC. Have had it for a month and already got new front and rear control arms, front bulk head, center diff, new wheels/tires for more ground clearance, wheelie bar, several batteries, new gearing (to go with the bigger tires), new heavier springs, shock oil....for the price of all this crap I could have gotten him a MAXX or kraton 6s
Shim the front and rear diffs, center diff helps. Front A arms need to be rpm A Arms. If you’re bashing the steel drive shafts work great. Best truck tires are the big joe 2’s from proline.
Have you tried the hot racing diffs? And how does a center diff help? My drivetrain and or diffs just keep getting destroyed.
@@alexcrowder1673 my advice is to put the HR diffs in along with shimming it. You will have to put some silicone so that the diff seals and put some diff fluid of your choosing. The center diff will make wheelies harder to do but is well worth as it takes strain off the diffs. Also for the center diff 50k-100k is the range I would stay around. Some people say they like 50k for wheelies. Others say 70-80k will allow for wheelies etc. good luck with the merv.
The diffs in the mini e revo get DESTROYED from wheelies and flips. I had to replace the diffs
I got tired of replacing diffs in my merv vxl that I just patched it up and put it on a shelf and bought a new one to start tinkering on the new one has the tsm the old one didn’t but it’s by far my favorite car.
Wow, you can really tell those monster truck axles are extra wide. I could see that truck being super stable around corners.
there is an erevo 16 locally for $150 that I was thinking about buying, but I do like the larger models like 1/8 or at least 1/10. Huh, can't decide lol
I've been wanting one of these since it came out, but so many people on more than 1 forum keep telling me not to do it because they say it's a money pit. Don't get me wrong , these same people say it's amazing when it actually runs, but that it's constantly needing repairs. They also say they do t abuse it either, but that it pretty much will break if you look at it wrong.
It's a shame, because I'd really like one but I'm pretty new at this and frankly I don't have the skill and time it apparently takes to keep the tires on the ground.
got like 3 mini revos... yes gears break. upgrade that and the arms and you good. mine are still running like crazy
I run a stock mini revo was a small brushless but i got the 12t motor plate and put a 1/10th brushless motor on it, thing rips but the driveshafts dont stand for crap, gonna be getting a good set of MIP if they have them or maybe GPM but havent had any tranny or diff issues
Had one for 2 years, ran it like a madman this second year.
Broken parts list so far:
2 front (1 left, 1 right) A Arms. (Full set costs about £10 to replace)
Rear Differential Ring & Pinion. (Cost to replace: £13)
Front body post mount. (Cost to replace: £5, but includes a full rear set too...)
So, these things are cheap as chips to repair. Gotta love it!
Not done a spur gear or any electrical damage. Body still holds up fine. Wheels have been replaced, but by choice, not because of anything going wrong.
In all honesty - go for it, they're fun as hell!
Every RC is a money sink. It's just how you drive them how big the sink is ;)
I have a full size revo as a first RC. Yes I broke stuff, mainly because I sucked at driving. But knowing now how and what. screw the haters. all the stuff they said would break didn't.
I would love to also have a MERV. But saving atm for a TRX4 :P
Hi Kev, i like your RC videos and the E-Revo VXL 1/16 is a nice funny car, but its not so taff for off-road, as it look like. Last weekend i take a trip on a stony track and i get some stones over some holes in the upper chassis in my driveshaft and there destroyed it. Its not funny for an off-road car and only answer from Traxxas "Unfortunately we do not offer a way to seal the chassis", i'am not amused. No i must find a way to seal this holes for future runs.

KEV! I noticed that you guys always leave your RC's hanging around, is there any instance where some of your stuff got stolen?
if you want to make the mini e revo extra crazy, get the motor mount from a brushed mini e revo. the brushed mini e revo uses the normal 12 turn motor thats in the 1/10 scale traxxas cars. that means you can put in the traxxas 3500 brushless motor, or any 1/10 scale brushless system, youll be doing standing backflips for days!

What have you done? I put the rpm complete chassis plate on n wheel extenders. The electrics are fantastic so I didn't touch them.

You are so lucky with your crashes! You where sending the erevo off ramps and it was fine but when I send my erevo on a smallish jump I break the steering box gears

Can you please do some real crawler videos? Like take out your modified trx4 out on a real mission on your local trails or other fun spots? I am here for the crawler videos and am always disappointed when they aren’t crawler videos.

Sorry to tell you dude but its near impossible to get a solid drive line for the 3s trucks espeacialy on the cheap but if your not crazy hard on it your best bet is to with the wayyyy over priced traxxas ones. Hope this helps.
@@griffynpodlatis8633 yeah I know the traxxas ones are completely indestructible but it’s £140 for a whole set and I don’t know if the ones I have are the right ones as the stub axle is different

The mini e-revo converts to a mini summit aswell with jist a few parts to swap & obviously the bodyshell , i did that , loved it then sold it & regretted it even as i packaged it up to send on .

I would get this but for just a little more Money I could get a Arrma Granite 3s BLX.
Def. a fun car!!! Crazy fast on 2 3s lipo ran in parallel. It did turn into a money pit though for such a small rc. T-Bone Chassis, rpm a-arms, large motor heat sink, stiffer springs, thicker oil (like 80wt to keep bottoming out), and shim the diffs. I haven't broken any driveshafts or diffs IDK if its luck or my driving style of easing onto the gas.
Are you running it 6s with the stock esc and motor?
Oh right it's still 3s on parallel you should try double 2s on series lol
@@rctrucks2094 Naw I think 4s would probably burn it up. Already almost overheats on 3s. I haven't driven it in a while though.
@@quickguesswho Think about it, the thing is capable of x2 nimh 7.2v in series, so how would x2 Lipo 7.4v be bad
@@rctrucks2094 nimh def does not have the power as LIPO even if voltage is higher. I plug in nimh in series on it and it's slower. The voltage drop on nimh under load is a good amount. Mine already overheats easily on 3s lipo if I'm not careful on the road.. You can run it however you want but I'll stick with 3s on the gearing that I have on it.
I don't like the mini e-revo it always braking like the gears and transmission I have 2 of them and just been sitting there for a year now

I just use Traxxas batteries. I haven't switched the connectors or anything
My brother has the same excact car and with traxxas 3s upgraded battery for this car he got 49 on 3s

You should review the Traxxas bandit vxl
We have the traxxas mini vxl revo and it’s an absolute beast with some RPM arms on it, on 3s it does standing still back flips no problem, I did a video on it showing a very simple mod to get rid of the body clips too 👍

What batteries were you using
I was one of the ones that told you to get it. My motor just went out on mine so be careful of overheating or shrink wrap melting off and shorting out the motor. Have fun!
That's why ya check the motor's temperature every once in a while when you're driving. If it's too hot to touch it's too hot to run, as Kevin says.

I have had a Mini e-revo Brushless VXL for a while now, its an awesome little unit! I ended up loading it up with bash plates and all sorts of stuff, but then it got too heavy, so you really need to keep it light :) I run mine on 3s (dual 3s running in parallel) and you still have to be gentle :)
amazing video, i got an arrma kraton 6s from an online store called akzo raya for only $260, so cars are pretty cheap there, so just a pointer for any future buyers

Superfast yes....but a PAIN to strip & work on.........& Stop free revving the cars....u gonna shoot the motors or make the magnetism of the motor go down the drain.
