He was never going through with that black Superman movie. A Constantine sequel now was a dumb idea and it would have been both confusing and a flop so its best if that project never happens either. i think the hardest part of a constantine film the way Abrams was probably gonna do it was separate from the new DCCU. Matt Reeves stuff is nice, and im letting him cook, but old stuff stuck in development hell like Constantine and Black Superman (both at Bad Robot btw) were old Pre DC Studios agreements that needed to be cut for a cleaner break. i can see where he can Gunn is trying to integrate everything he can besides stuff that would clearly be Elseworlds like Kingdom Come (he shot down the Warner Brothers Animation proposal for Kingdom Come, from what i can tell he has plans for it.
Doing a black Superman let alone it being a black variant is something we don't need especially after we are getting a rebooted Superman proper. Do another character that needs to be in the spotlight that has yet to be done.

It makes more sense for WB to save the first trailer for the Super Bowl in early Febuary. Not only would it be nice to drop a Superman trailer during an iconic American cultural event that shares a similar name to the iconic American character. But that trailer would then play the next week in front of Captain America New World Order when it opens. This Holiday season doesn't have a massive live-action franchise film (MCU, DC, Star Wars, Avatar, Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts, The Hobbit/Lord of The Rings, James Bond, that is worthy as a launch point for a marketing campaign for a summer blockbuster film.
There is Sonic 3 and Mufasa one of these will likely make a billion dollars and having the superman trailer play will get people's attention and then they can release a second trailer at the Superbowl getting the movie even more attention
I think they'd save the second full trailer for the Superb Owl. The first trailer is more of an announcement to let everyone know it's on the way and hint at what to expect. The second trailer is where it'll get into the story and the spectacle. That's the one you want next year.

Since there’s nothing involving the trailer for Superman and having no press coverage at the conventions and James Gunn did say that they are creating post scenes for the movie, and finally finishing the effects and stuff within the trailer which would mean that the trailer will be released next year within the same timeframe as the Super Bowl!!! I know that it’s not ideal but the way that James Gunn is doing it makes sense. I know the Constantine movie is a cult classic, but I am not mad at the potential cancellation of that film. First of all that version of the character is not John Constantine simple as that. They removed too many elements that make him who he is. It was a fun reimagination but now that the DCU is starting and having Constantine played by such a big name as Keanu Reeves he would be connected to that character and any other version would straight up be rejected by casual fans who would claim that Gunn’s version is not accurate cause they’ve only seen his movie and that obviously make them experts on the character, don’t know anything about the actual John Constantine. I hope we see him in Swamp Thing so we can eventually get to a Constantine series or movie and then Justice League Dark. I am clearly biased because John Constantine is my second favorite fictional character ever, but I just want to see the character properly utilized for once. Matt Ryan was perfect and will always be THE John Constantine to me like Kevin Conroy was the definitive Batman, however Matt was never properly utilized in live action unfortunately. His series was short lived and while I loved him on Legends in fact he was the best part of legends while he was on there he never quite fit. It just felt like he should’ve had a solo show. With Gunn I hope he gets the dark, horror vibe that he deserves. Constantine is and should be a rated r character so he can be his true self full of the cursing and chain smoking that the character is known for. He still works in pg13 if they have him pop up for big events movies for the justice league. Justice League Dark should also be rated r if you ask me.

So, it just happened to come out first. That's why since day one he said this is like an appetizer before the big launch with Superman 2025 in theaters.

Since there’s nothing involving the trailer for Superman and having no press coverage at the conventions and James Gunn did say that they are creating post scenes for the movie, and finally finishing the effects and stuff within the trailer which would mean that the trailer will be released next year within the same timeframe as the Super Bowl!!! I know that it’s not ideal but the way that James Gunn is doing it makes sense. This sounds very likely that it’s gonna happen, it’s not good news but it does make sense because the flash movie did that as well!!! It’s not the best news but at least we’re getting it next year.

I know the Constantine movie is a cult classic, but I am not mad at the potential cancellation of that film. First of all that version of the character is not John Constantine simple as that. They removed too many elements that make him who he is. It was a fun reimagination but now that the DCU is starting and having Constantine played by such a big name as Keanu Reeves he would be connected to that character and any other version would straight up be rejected by casual fans who would claim that Gunn’s version is not accurate cause they’ve only seen his movie and that obviously make them experts on the character, don’t know anything about the actual John Constantine. I hope we see him in Swamp Thing so we can eventually get to a Constantine series or movie and then Justice League Dark. I am clearly biased because John Constantine is my second favorite fictional character ever, but I just want to see the character properly utilized for once. Matt Ryan was perfect and will always be THE John Constantine to me like Kevin Conroy was the definitive Batman, however Matt was never properly utilized in live action unfortunately. His series was short lived and while I loved him on Legends in fact he was the best part of legends while he was on there he never quite fit. It just felt like he should’ve had a solo show. With Gunn I hope he gets the dark, horror vibe that he deserves. Constantine is and should be a rated r character so he can be his true self full of the cursing and chain smoking that the character is known for. He still works in pg13 if they have him pop up for big events movies for the justice league. Justice League Dark should also be rated r if you ask me.

@tvega3000 It was already written and in the works before he started work on the DCU. The head of WB Animation asked Gunn to develop a show with them before Gunn was made co-chief of DC Studios. So, it just happened to come out first. That's why since day one he said this is like an appetizer before the big launch with Superman 2025 in theaters.

He should have cancelled Creature Commandos. That show is awful so far. Really really bad. It's like he keeps photocopying Guardians of the Galaxy and the copies get worse and worse. I don’t know how referencing an actress one time is an obsession - but that is the level of intellect I am forced to respond to if I criticize Gunn. If I can be said to have any interest in Gunn’s wife at all it is that I think she is the best character (and actor) on Peacemaker. Shame on me.

Frank Grillo has dark hair. James Gunn has snow white hair. Flagg has snow white hair (not even the dark hair with white temples that was released in some promos). Grill has a mustache and stubble or just stubble. Gunn has a white beard. Flagg has a white beard. Likewise, anyone who thinks the princess looks more like Maria Bakalova than like Jennifer Holland clearly doesn’t even know how to do an image search.
I was also told that the opening credits showing James Gunn at the typewriter “weren’t his idea.” Again, these people obviously don’t know anything about producing. Gunn and I are roughly the same age. We both saw Stephen J. Cannell do that exact same thing Gunn is doing with the typewriter, but in live action and AFTER the CLOSING credits. Gunn is copying Cannell and is also trying to portray himself as the DCU version of Stan Lee (the face of that comic universe).
I’m not a Gunn worshipper like those who responded to me, but I also don’t hate him. I don’t care about him at all. I do care about DC (and Marvel, btw) characters and I think Gunn is the wrong guy to entrust the DCU to. If he proves me wrong with Superman, no one will be happier than I will be. But he won’t. His sense of humor is too dark and too middle school (and none of his jokes land on CC, btw, unlike in GoG). Gunn bringing in The Authority in his first DCU movie gives away his plans. Gunn attacking “anti-woke” men - but making them look and talk like woke soy boys - in the first episode of CC also gives away his agenda. Attacking half the audience and pushing “the message” is not a recipe for success.

It's reasonable to assume they designed Flag Sr. with gray hair to make him appear substantially older than Flag Jr., not to look like Gunn. The only reason they didn't replicate this with Grillo in live action is because he was filming Tulsa Kings at same time and he had to keep his dark hair.
What's also clear is that the depiction of the Sons of Themyscira being clowns who cry "woke" struck a nerve with you. Obviously, you must recognize yourself in that depiction. Clearly, since you're using the right wing MAGA jargon of "the message." It's amazing how similar snyder cultists and QAnon/MAGA types actually sound.
