    You are exactly right about parasites in the water AND food. I lived in Mexico for 3 years and I constantly got intestinal parasite infections from the food/water. It is a deal breaker for me. I love Mexico but those parasites are the most dangerous thing in the world. You can't live a normal life if you can't eat out without getting parasites and even at home you can get them from the food. It's just very disappointing. Nobody ever talks about it either.

    As the US begins to reign in accountability with the threat of tariffs on other countries such as Mexico (illegal immigration, cartel ect..) Panama (Panama canal fiasco), Canada (border issues, subsidies ect..) Denmark (Greenland) is it out of the question that these countries may impose higher taxes and fees on foreign expats, especially US? Since their wealth also causes prices to go up for locals? I think these countries will seek for a way to get their revenue one way or the other, even if it’s by imposing new taxes and fee’s on expats. Thoughts?

    The one thing that you guys haven't touched on, is the rising costs of healthcare in these expat hubs and communities. It's becoming increasingly difficult to pay out of the pocket, and there are a number of swindlers willing to take advantage of the sick and desperate.

    • @HMFamilyLife

      Thanks for sharing that. Yes, you have to be careful. that is something you need to research before moving to a country. Many expats come home when they need health care and we know that is not practical for everyone, so you might want to ask other expats in the community of a country you are interested in moving too. Whom do they use and trust?

    Oh yea, I lived in Liberia for 2 years. We boiled and filtered the water. Had to take worm medicine every month. And yes you get worms.
    Doctors told me it is impossible to avoid. Dust from the roads gets on your lips and you are infected.
    Also got the worst sinus infection from all the dust breathed in while driving or walking.

    I recently commented on a move abroad influencers video that was titled "Is it Safe here?" They read off statistics (likely put out by the corrupt government) saying that it was getting safer from the gang violence, therefore it's safe to move here. I commented with anecdotes of the murders and crime that happened in the last year that their viewers really ought to know. They and their squad did not like that. I had to though, if people really want to move here they should know what to expect. Which is a high rate of murder, at least, in this last year it was. They are all smiles and "super nice" until you say the truth, then they change face.

      Unfortunately Ecuador is losing tourism because of the crime and other things. Even the RAM took them off their top ten global index list for the first time since 2010. And it's not just the Ecuadorians that cover-up crime---expats that have vested interests do it too. Several home invasions were happening in Ballenita (coast) when we lived in Cuenca and that was covered up by the expat forum group for Ballenita. There were also several rapes along the river walking trail in Cuenca Ecuador, that was silenced by another gringo group in Cuenca...it goes on and on....

      @@HMFamilyLife It says something about the people of this country when they are partially dependent on tourism but have to suppress and lie about the reality of life here to actually get people to come. I personally don't think it is unfortunate that they are losing tourism because it is the truth that has done that. People are now capable of making decisions based on the realities and not the lies of what goes on here. People's safety over money. I do wish the best for this country and in my personal opinion that starts with being honest, something they don't seem to care about themselves. You reap what you sow, as the saying goes.
      In 2024, 2 Ecuadorian children were murdered a day amounting to 770 deaths. That's not even counting the children who are kidnapped into human trafficking. We should pray for Ecuador and the children here. My personal opinion is that when things like this are happening that deems it a country unfit for tourism but is in severe need of aid and prayer.

    Another excellent video of yours. What I have the problem with is when certain content creators compare a city abroad that has 20k residents with crime stats in LA or Manhattan. Let's compare like with like. Once one gets out of the big metro areas in the US, the crime rates are quite low.
    There's a female with a channel who is based in Florida & she deletes my comment about some of her pro-European & International locations. She doesn't want to talk about what its really like to live in a country. She's more of the slow travel digital nomad group, where people drift from one place to another.

    • @HMFamilyLife
      @HMFamilyLife  5 дней назад +2

      Yes, we hear you loud and clear. We have to compare crime rates with other countries in that continent and of about the same size rather than with the USA but vloggers like to do that for some reason. Thanks for sharing that. Take care.

    Frank, in a video, you said something about your health being wrecked by living outside the USA. Were parasites the problem?

    • @HMFamilyLife
      @HMFamilyLife  5 дней назад +4

      Yes, we did preventative measures such as papaya seeds and other things and they do help somewhat but when you live in endemic areas, if you skip a day or two of seeds you become infected again, so its a chronic thing and the seeds do not heal your gut from constantly being infested over and over again. The parasites hide in crevices in your intestinal tract and amoebas are hard to get rid of. Overtime parasites cause all kinds of issues with your immune system and they also can cause cancer.
