Dear Victoria, I have to say this: all of my life I struggled with taking the air while singing, sore throat and I tought all of my life I don't need anyone to tutor my singing. But I noticed after watching and doing your exercises that are very simple and doable, my singing got better, my breathing technique got better and my throat doesn't hurt while singing and after singing. Thank you so much! I also got surprised that we all have vibrato, we just need to awaken it! I love your tutorials and how easy you explain things. God bless you and your work♥
I felt the same as ur comment dat I didn’t need a tutor for meye singing until I just checked out her videos. I’ve been making music a little over 20 years now and realize dat whut she speaks I need. I really feel all she comes with, very helpful and informative. I’m starting to git better with my vibrato. I knowtis mine is a lil slower den most. But I do enjoy meye uniqueness of singing. Just need to come more in balance to have more control. And Victoria is definitely helping me be the best dat I can be.
When you speak, you sound just like Liza Minnelli! I kept thinking you reminded me of somebody when you spoke, while I was watching a video of yours last night. Then while I was listening to some music this morning I realized who it was!
I’m from Latinoamérica, today I found your channel and your attitude is amazing, the way you teach with discipline and fun and the same time, I just love it, thank u for the video, I learned a lot and subscribed ❤
your videos helps me a lot 🥹 I was so close to giving up on singing thinking there’s no hope for me, but watching ur videos I saw some progress. ur truly an angel
Outstanding video. I very much like the way you find ways to work on singing without just pounding away at , or repeating over and over, what isn't going so well. Using exercises to learn and then make good vocal technique the way one sings and then applying it to songs just seems so much easier. Still have to work, of course but it helps to have a pretty good idea of what you want to do and how to do it in the song instead of hoping to come up with it while singing.
Thank so much 🤎🤎🤎 ! :) I love you. Your like the beautiful super awesome singing grandma I’ve always wanted to teach me how to sing not to mention that we kind of actually like alike
Hi Victoria. I love the lessons, it's a great program you've put together. Finally I have something to help with breathing. Having a problem matching the scales but I'll keep practicing. 😊
Really cool.I learned more in 9 minutes than in my lifetime.Thank you. 'You don't need much air to sing if you manage the air correctly'(paraphased). It sounds counter-intuitive but I sing better with less air(without collapsing) than I do with the big gasping of air.I tried the first exercise but I think I'm taking in too much air between the sung numbers because I'm "full" of air at the end. It seems more natural to me to do the numbers alone(and up & down in pitches also) without breathing in between them. Maybe I'm already conscious of my air conservation and using it adequately. Thanks again.Comment?
Well, taking the catch breath is part of the exercise. It's a different kind of challenge. See my videos on the Catch Breath. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I still have trouble at the end where my ribcage is closing in and it's up tighting everything up. Outside of that I think I'm doing the exercises right. Also are we not aloud to sing songs to practice or does practicing BY singing songs just make things worse?
I talk about this in a lot of my videos. We always work on exercises and then apply them to our songs. ruclips.net/p/PLaWjWxiTysDCxePed1h6e2ud6z-UeNOVI&si=pe25hOaz9BO759Wx
Hey Victoria, First I wanted to thank you for all the videos you provided people all around the world with for free. I had an issue which might be the issue of many people, and would appreciate if you could help us with. During the presentation and speech, I feel I can't continue speaking loud and my voice start shaking and feeling tired, is there any specific practice to solve this? [I mostly speak with head voice] Sorry if I didn't use the professional terms, I'm new in this field.
this video was posted like a year ago so I doubt this question while be seen (so no worries there) but I had a question: I'm having issues with excersize one where I'm taking in too much air. That air builds up after about 3 catch breaths and I have to start exhaling. I'm a decently experienced singer and have pretty good control over how much air i use when singing and often (in my everyday singing) I find myself having to exhale. Now I realize that having too much stored air is a better problem to have then running out of air. But this causes me to have to both exhale and inhale during the small time to catch breath.
note: I have to exhale because like our lungs don't like holding the air when it's all already become CO2. I guess what I'm asking is how to I better regulate how much air I take in so that I don't have to exhale after phrases.
It sounds like you are over-breathing and tight. It does not take a lot of air to sing if the inhalation is correct and the exhalation is supported. See my playlist: Breathing (Inhalation) for Singing - the BASICS ruclips.net/p/PLaWjWxiTysDCciuU4Sd5M9122o98hj0hE
@Victoria-Victorious As a 36-year-old woman, I'm confronting my lifelong lack of singing ability, despite my family's musical background, including my mother's exceptional talent. I've developed a desire to learn. Having previously felt self-conscious about my vocals, I'm now curious: can singing be mastered through proper training and technique?
Is it possible to improve my high notes without piano and do warm ups quietly? I have no privacy, unfortunately everyone hears me and I am shy in this way when they hear me do scales and they're laughing at me.
The biggest thing that makes me push through my shyness is that it makes me sound worse. It's worth it to just go for it. You can tell when someone's holding back their voice and in my opinion that's worse than just going for it and letting whatever come out. Victoria has amazing videos on having a "shy" voice, they've helped me plenty
@snowcolonelmusic I hope the situation has improved! It can be hard when you don’t have privacy. It is a great lesson learning how to tune out unmerited insult and to just keep going. It is not easy and I still try my best everyday to just keep going when what I’m doing is not wrong, yet people discourage or insult me anyway. Tuning them out takes time and practice. It’s only when we are actually in the wrong that we should not tune out opposing opinions. In this case, you’re not in the wrong and I hope it’s gotten better! Keep going!
Miss Victoria, I cannot find the playlist on how to sing with style and sound authentic. I seen a short where you talked about that that's why I commented on first video I seen in the feed because it wasn't showing the short again. All I can find is one video. I have some intense asthma my lung capacity is only at about 40%. So when I’m singing I can’t hold enough air to hold out longer phrases. I took voice lessons over 15 years ago. Maybe I’ve forgotten some breathing techniques because of that. There’s this one song that I’m struggling with where there’s one phrase I can take a quick sneak breath before the next phrase, but I have trouble holding it out. Can you give me some tips on how to be able to fix that? Thank you.
Hi Victoria, I'm struggling with something, so I have to ask you this question. When searching for my unique singing voice, or when I'm doing these exercises, I'm burping so much, it happens every time. Then it gets easier to sing, after some burping is done, and I can sing better. Did you ever see this in your career, if you did please help me out with some clarity. Kind regards 🌸🤍

Ok so my problem is, I know the difference between when I breath from the diaphragm vs my chest/lungs, but I don’t see it in my stomach (I don’t see me diaphragm moving, but I can feel the difference). I’m not sure if it’s just covered by the LAYERS of fat around my stomach😂 or maybe I’m just not doing it correctly??? Anyone else??
The diaphragm automatically descends when you inhale. You will not see it moving and you don't want to take a huge belly breath. For more details on breathing, see my playlist: Breathing (Inhalation) for Singing ruclips.net/p/PLaWjWxiTysDCciuU4Sd5M9122o98hj0hE

Yes, I have seen that. You are likely taking in too much air and swallowing it. This can cause the stomach to gurgle too.

Oh my I try it but talon about air control
Would you recommend jogging for better breath support?
No. Practice the exercises in my Breathing & Breath Support playlist.
Why am I getting out of breath doing this, right from the first 1-2-3-4-5?
You are probably taking in too much air and may be taking a high, tense breath. The purpose of this exercise is simply to show you that it does not take a lot of air to sing and that the breath needs to be automatic. It hardly takes any air to sing or speak 1 beat, as I discussed.
I never thought that their is 5 beats in music.
The exercises I demonstrate in this video have 4 beats to a measure.
I just found you 😁😁🤭
Smth i noticed after this video is that i keep myself tight & i don't breathe while singing! N i feel like uncomfortable & out of breathe after it.
It sounds like your abs are tight and you are locking your breath. See my playlist on Breathing & Breath Support.
I was able to do the challenging exercise the second time, when I realized I hadn't breathed after each note in the first part 😅
I still end up deflated sometimes, and I think it's because I'm not conscious of the air I'm putting out-especially on longer notes, like at the end of Bring Me To Life. It always gets an ovation, but sometimes I literally run out of air and get dizzy
Ok so my problem is, I know the difference between when I breath from the diaphragm vs my chest/lungs, but I don’t see it in my stomach (I don’t see me diaphragm moving, but I can feel the difference).
