£252 - Temujin, later Genghis, was the founder of the largest contiguous empire in history. With the tribes of Northeast Asia largely under his control, he set in motion the Mongol invasions, which ultimately witnessed the conquest of much of Eurasia, and incursions by Mongol raiding parties as far west as Legnica in western Poland and as far south as the University of Sankore.
Ah, Genghis. My all time favourite real life leader, closely followed by Alexander the Great. His story is great to read, and even more wonderful to think most of the people living in modern say Asia are related to him directly.

Hey Ryan! Just wanted to say thank you, so much, for all of the amazingly entertaining videos that you upload on a consistent basis! I've been incredibly sick the last couple of days, to the point where sleeping is difficult. Your past and present series have kept me entertained and distracted from my sickness - the best kind of medicine! Throughout the years I've watched you, it's always been a joy seeing that there's a new video from you. So, thank you! And keep up the good work! I'm so glad that you do this, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we like watching it!
1:17, Railroad to Rome, excellent, I’m sure there will be some shenanigans ahead. Love, shenanigans. oh yeah, choo-choo. 6:09, Holy shit, I didn’t know horses were scientist too.🤪
Having plenty of space for settling is both a blessing and a curse in Civ; you have room to expand, but there's also an abundance of places where barbarians can spawn, which can be very disruptive to both settling and building up infrastructure.
If I did that people wouldn't come back day after day!! Have a look at the playlists of videos I keep on the channel - pretty much every other game apart from the most current one is complete and can be binged
Should have bought the catapult in the cities with the unique building instead of the one that didn't even have an encampment yet. I know they are a bit slow to move, but with horses near them, it would be fine.
Historic speed puts an artifical science multiplier on the cost of techs above the era you're in - so if you start going ahead of the era, you'll fine anything from 2.5x to 5x the normal cost. It stops people getting away and sort of rubber bands people together, a bit more like irl. Techs from past eras then get super cheap so you can catch up quick!
2 hours late? You know we were very worried that Oxford had sent assassins to finally shut you up. You can't just play with your fans' emotions like this.
Do you have a guide on all the unit adjacency bonuses? I heard you day siege units can move and attack if they are adjacent to a horse, and for a year I've been wondering why sometimes I can move and shoot. And other times I have to wait till the promotion.
I'll have to make something soon! The move and shoot thing, it's a bug in the game - if a siege unit has more movement than it should (gran columbia, great general, logistics card etc) then it will be able to move and fire regardless of whether it has the promotion or not. It's strange but very fun!
Ursa you know you dont have to lock in the civics that you're researching and unlike techs where you can't bank science, you can bank culture, thus enabling you to constantly change policy cards every turn without having to pay to unlock them... ;)
Yep, a good little exploit this one! Personally I can't put up with having to force end turn all the time, hense why I don't do it - but this is a good strat if you need to switch cards a lot
I believe not - I think the points get applied to your civ rather than your cities, like points from policy cards do - I could be wrong but I've never seen pingala working on it
I have almost 2k hours and I think I only played a later-era game start once... It is interesting, but I kind of miss the tension from the ancient start, when you have nothing and know nothing...
@@UrsaRyan It is quite different. Almost a different game altogether. Can be fun and interesting, but I really like solving the initial ancient and classic struggles on Deity.
Havent played CIV6 in a couple of years,,, Has the it been fixed so that enormous maps ect, dont crash inevitably by around first waterlevel increase? What about AI, any better late game? And how do I find a huge mod list of mods that is still updated and relevant?
Ryan, I am a HUGE proponent for Classical Starts. If a player likes Emperor or Immortal, but struggles with Ancient Era start Deity, I suggest starting in Classical, because they don't get the extra free techs like they do in Ancient Era. PLUS, you have governors and districts unlocked at the same time (Turn 1) as the AI. Though, if you start in Medieval, you lose the ability to build Ancient Era Wonders.
I like Medieval for the slight reduction in district cost and the free pop & monument in cities - but yes I would recommend these starts every day of the week!
Challenge: MAXIMUM POLICI CARD SLOTS. Challene: MAXIMUM CULTURE BOMBING! Other one: Play on biggest size TSL Earth map you can reliably run and do TSL Sythia or Indonesia. I hate both of those with a passion
I love later-era starts, because it gives player a lot of choices from the very beginning.
It really does - they are massively under played!
This is one of the very few videos I actively watched in a long time. I didn't realize this video was 40 mins long until after I finished it.
Yay! Glad you enjoyed
23:28 I love how ALL of the sheep are outside of the walls.
It's to allow them to eat sand outside of the field while they're not being worked, so the sand within the boundaries is allowed to grow back.

Im so hyped for this playthrough!
I love your tranquility to win anyways. But this piano in the back is huge. Thanks for the videos.

KEKW That start! KEKW
I would love to see a 2.5-3 hour episode where you do the whole game in one vid
Could you imagine I would never sleep!
Please no and I think the algorithm promotes videos over an hour less...
@@UrsaRyan do them over a span of a few days, but release them in a batch of episodes. I would be far more likely to watch all three

What I like about the later era starts the most is that the prices of districts don't get absurd.
This is one of those small changes that I also love - especially dams and canals etc - so much fun to use!
Need to do a true start Gorgo Greece on historic game speed.
Hoplite rush!!
But Ursa, why did you let the barbarians get out of hand? Dont tell me you were stood next to their camp and they just attacked you ..

Here come the girls is now playing in my head but with horde
Medieval start is alright but I prefer two eras behind start :)
Non ancient era starts break my brain. I'm brainking
Nice vid.

Can you explain the historic speed more and how it keeps u in earlier eras with regular production?
Historic speed puts an artifical science multiplier on the cost of techs above the era you're in - so if you start going ahead of the era, you'll fine anything from 2.5x to 5x the normal cost. It stops people getting away and sort of rubber bands people together, a bit more like irl. Techs from past eras then get super cheap so you can catch up quick!
❤️ amazing video as always, I would love if a mod that bring Skyrim to civ exist and ursa could play that.
Skyrim mod! There must be one surely?!?

I've played one game on historic speed. Really enjoyed it but decided it took too long xD Combined with a later start it's probably a better option!
It stops you playing out 200 turns without any tech, so you can get straight into the game!!!
why did you leave the barbarians to get out of hand?
:P
I have almost 2k hours and I think I only played a later-era game start once... It is interesting, but I kind of miss the tension from the ancient start, when you have nothing and know nothing...
