When you remove the timing chain cover, did you have the dowel pin intact in your cover? When you installed the cover back on, how did you keep the dowel pin in the cover from falling out?
Hey that is a factory cam timing gear, all the plastic teeth have fallen off. Pull your oil pan off - all the teeth will be in there and stick in your oil pump pickup
it was quite funny. becasue privious to this i had only seen images of the timing gear with the teeth. so when they were gone all together. i didnt know that they had the metal teeh inside of the plastic like that. just didnt know what to expect. We did clean the oil pan out tho.

i think the first time i did 15w-40 i dont recall if i did something different this go around or not.
What are your thoughts on upgrading to a high volume normal pressure oil pump on the MEL 462?

a thick glop of assembly grease will hold it in place. use some of that. and just dont jar it a round a whole lot when putting it back together.
Help me out, where did you find a replacement timing set? I want to pull that plastic out of mine right now lol

Did you guys rebuild the PS pump?
We did not. Wound up doing a Volvo pump.
