I hadn't noticed the "like" thing. You are undoubtedly one of the most well spoken people I have ever heard on RUclips. Don't worry about it. Like, if you notice you have slipped, just tousle the hair a couple of times and move on.

I am proud you are addressing your bad habits, which is something I need to do myself. You speak well for someone who has completed his first year of college, and far better than many who post on YT and in person. When my mom was alive, she was a University English professor and my English grammar is not perfect, even being raised by her. Be proud of your acknowledgement of speaking mistakes and continue making videos. You post amazing stories brother. Thank you.

I’ve only seen a few of your videos but I think you are very well spoken. It’s one reason I’ve kept watching is because you speak well and are a good storyteller. With that being said, it’s always good to be improving on yourself. Just don’t be too hard on yourself.

You're hilarious, Tate. Another awesome TDR today. Talk like you want to, improve what you want to, and we'll be here regardless. Not counting the times you used the word to tell us what you planned to do to address it, I stopped counting at 7 the number of times you said it elsewhere. It's all cool . . . just one of those amazing filler words. We'll see you tomorrow. So close to 2K. Like, wow!!!!! :)

Public speaking (which a vlog certainly counts as even if the audience isn't live) is a very tough skill to master. But you are noticing things you want to change (I agree with the several posters who never really noticed it until you brought it up) and changing them. Congratulations on all the work you are putting into improving yourself in so many ways!

heh...I'm an adult and had to go through presentation training so I could stop using filler words while presenting to clients. I see it at work all the time. So no worries. It's tough. Slowing down is a good way to help it, though. Pausing is another. Look at the audience, pause and reset your brain.

Mr. Grammar here 😁(not really), but an important step in in stopping saying like is when to use it properly. Like is only supposed to be used when with nouns and pronouns (eg : "You look like your father") and is often incorrectly used instead of "as" which should be used as a conjunction when joining clauses (eg. : "You work as an ice delivery person") The most famous misuse of like was in the advertising slogan used by Winston cigarettes which was "Winston tastes like a cigarette should" and correctly should have been "Winston tastes as a cigarette should".

I am a newer sub and i have not noticed the overuse of 'Like' , nor do i notice your use of 'um'. Newer sub as in maybe 2 weeks i have been watching. I do watch TDR , so i guess your 'bad habits' are not scaring me away or thinking any less of you. So my advice is keep doing what you're doing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
First of all you are 'Live' evoking your statements/opinions or whatever. I would only say, which i think you do already cos i see you with a pen or sharpie in your hand...just have a piece of paper/your phone next to you that has all the points you want to discuss or get across.
You're doing fine man, don't stress over it. I am my own worst critic and i think you are your own worst critic as well. Don't beat yourself up over it. Period!

TBH - I don't mind your "likes" or "ups" cause your videos are unscripted and in the. moment. I say it - as in it doesn't affect my view or enjoyment of your content. This being said by someone who works in media and knows that "umps, etc" are often edited out. With your content, it helps it feel athletic. If you like to try without it - so be it. Just don't let your "pre-thought" in NOT trying to say it - interfere with your natural voice

It’s very easy to criticize yourself once you have some public content. Obviously self improvement is a great idea, but honestly I never noticed how often you say like. It’s easy to fixate on flaws of yours that your audience may not even notice. So self-improvement=good but definitely don’t be too hard on yourself

  • @jasoncoon5707

No issues here with um’s and like’s :-) However, while you’re improving things, it’s not a bad habit, but it would improve your videos, and help with engagement, and with making them more personal and relatable, if maybe you could look at the camera, instead of the screen, to increase eye contact with your audience :-) I love your videos, and not telling you what to do, as they’re yours, but just a suggestion :-)
