thanks to who put this on, beltin, saw joe stand in at the royal court in liverpool, can't remember the year, put flowers on his grave at glastonbury a while back, memories created by these legends.
The reason Joe went on gigs with the pogues is that he needed realism at that point. The pogues were the most honest band, no frills. Joe had made a massive decision in sacking Mick Jones from the clash and felt in the wilderness at this time I feel. RIP Joe
This IFTL version is slower than original Clash version, it's more similar at that Sony Curtis original. Maybe because Joe was working on the Walker soundtrack in 1987. Yes, this version has the same sound of songs from Walker. Anyway it's another gorge opus version, thanks you Joe, i... We all miss you -3
Royal Court "81",three months after the riots in toxteth!no band like the clash,sandanista was the album they were playing.. theatre of hate with Kirk Brandon were the warm up act..but the clash were a band like no other live!best gig I've seen in Liverpool or any City for that matter..
I was there, and have his autograph and plectrum,quite emotional to watch, he looked great too, do you have the 2nd song? they did London calling, Joe busted a string on his acoustic.Magic, thanks for the upload man. j
@EdNortonisMineLol, I watched that Julian Temple bio-pic about Joe called "The Future is Unwritten" and cried like a baby. I also laughed my ass off at the old friends, mates, "frenemies, and others who showed up to praise and damn him. Still the only f'ing band that mattered!
When I saw this video, I just remember a sequence from a movie (i think it was that one) Punk in London when in the begining, there is a guy "dancing" like a lunatic...and reminds me a lot of Shane...and I think it was to the tune White Riot by the Clash...

joe and shane are two of my best poet,singer ,songwriters ever,(in fact only springsteen and dylan can come close) seen them perform better than this though, like the town and country dvd, for example. and farewell to Phillip Chevron too,were a Pogue down lads, bad news.
this isn't very good (and i loved both bands very much) and later saw the full tour in the early 90's with Joe in the Pogues not just guest. as an Irish guy in Canada...this is shite
Sad to agree. I saw Joe with The Pogues a few years later, without Shane and the crowd was even booing because Shane wasn't there. Joe didn't deserved that.
Never heard Joe sing more soulful...ever!
Joe looks really healthy.
It is said that the ‘eyes are a window to the soul’ In this performance, Joe’s (RIP) voice proves that the ‘voice is the tone of the soul’
🙏💝
I really love my joe and he isn’t truly gone ever. He means the freaking world to me and I feel deeply connected to joe himself always. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

too many legends on one stage. RIP Joe.
Strange Strummer didn't fall unconscious when Shane was sharing the mic with him.
Who would've thought that Joe would die before Shane?! RIP, Joe
jean prouvaire ~ Rather like Iggy Pop outliving Bowie. I wish no ill to the Iggster...but it's just not fair.
RIP Joe !

Not sure I could ever yawn about anything involving Joe.
Great version
@iwantcompletecontrol Sad story :( Very interesting, though, so thanks for sharing

Exactly what I thought,
@DerAntimensch tu m'étonnes!
I vote like, but may be it's the sound quality, but not exactly one of my fave versions of this song.
squinkque h
1 person fought the floor and the floor won.
Drinking beer in the hot sun ...

Twelve musicians, eleven teeth.
Think yr maths is a bit off there pal
I don't doubt it...
Shane, el cantante de The Pogues.. xD
By this time the Pogues were Showpaddypaddy.
...nah, i 'll stick to the clash version!!!
:-)
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️😍😍😍🎵🎵🍭🌠🌠🛸🛸🛸
who let Shane sing right into joes nose like that? I mean i love shane but jesus that couldn't have been pleasant.
Awesome, although James should have maybe sat this one out. Would have been better without the accordion. Great performance, though.
E. Carter-Caldwell ~ I disagree but I respect your opinion so I gave it a thumbs-up anyway :)
hoy aprendí q cada uno muere en su propia ley...
@toterola451 Hell yea!
@atrumira so The Clash fought the record companies, and The Clash won?
What's up with that crazy guitar solo?
that's not nice shane is legend whatever his problems no one is perfect in this world
I love Shane :)
That stuff must be so strong I bet it could singe nasal hair. Not too many teeth left these days. RIP Clash City Rocker.
but the fucking law won thank you joe rip
@EdNortonisMineLol - No doubt!
es verdad chicos, me casé, pero jamás, jamás, dejo de estar presente en mí, y ahora se termino, no quiero más, ya está...me voy....
No doubt(!!) Goes to show you that St. Francis must truely look after fools and drunks.
CHEVRON!!!!!
Shane claims he wants to be the first person to live forever.
perdon, no es ningún pelotudo, si esta ahí es porque es muy buén músico, no me quise burlar de su adicción, le deseo lo mejor, gracias
@EdNortonisMineLol The world is weird! x
at least should have known it was a buddy holly song???
+martin j Barry it was written by Sonny Curtis (The Cricket's replacement for Buddy Holly)
:D
It smells of fresh alcohol if that counts?
Joe lost his teeth when he was jumped by teddy boys while he was just starting with the Clash.
Pretty sure he lost them because they rotted out of his jaw! He even said that in an interview I read...
the tall geek with the jug ears doesn't appear to contribute much
nah,he just ground em down to dust and then snorted em doll !
@DerAntimensch hahaha

weak version :(
Not a patch on the original by The Crickets.
I just hate to see Joe sharing a microphone. They could have easily got that Pogues guy his own microphone. Not that I’m homophonic or anything.
Shane is a mess here. what a surprise...
